  1. You can’t consume your own wine or soft drinks in bars or restaurants.
  2. If you want to know where the nearest supermarket is, whatever port you are in ask a crew member they will know the nearest and cheapest. So no issues with as you say currency of frequently visited ports. At the end of the day money is money which I am sure they are grateful to receive.
  3. In November we got a taxi for 5 from the terminal at the port entrance, everybody has to get off here for security and either make independent arrangements or get back on the Cunard shuttle to Blankenberge. The taxi cost 50 euros to Bruges each way. He dropped us right in the main square and asked us if we would like him to come back later for us. We settled on a time and he arrived promptly. The taxi fares are set by the local authorities as a set rate so no embarrassing haggling. Definitely well worth the money. There were plenty there available. In Rotterdam there is a free Cunard shuttle that takes you right in the centre. You can visit Rotterdam itself or take a tram / train further afield.
  4. Really am, haven’t a clue who he is/was. Never heard of him before like others on here too. Neither has my interest been piqued to investigate further.
  5. Cans are about 4$ and everyone in the cabin has to have the same package . Canned soft drinks are not usually available on the cheapest soft drink packages. You have to have soft drinks from the fountain machine at the bar which are about 3$ for a small.
  6. They won’t mind any currency as they can spend it ashore. They all at some point get a chance on a rota system to go ashore. Also you can get cash out - dollars on your cruise card. I he e done this plenty of times.
  7. Ended up googling it. It is a neckline higher than a crew and not as high as polo neck and doesn’t seem to be rolled over like a polo. I think the mock part of the description is irrelevant and misleading. Funnily enough when I typed it in to google mock turtle soup was the first suggestion. 😀
  8. I am glad you asked because I was wondering the same thing. I too was thinking soup.
  9. Do you cut the bit off with the booking reference etc.. I print 100% and include that information when I cut I think yours are the same size as mine just a different brand.
  10. Yes I take several different types and they are really useful for charging your phone up when out and about during the day.
  11. As a regular solo traveller I have never found the crossing or other voyages a couples event but I suppose I am used to being on my own and enjoy my own company and can occupy myself perfectly happily all day and evening. I can appreciate that If being solo wasn’t your original plans it could seem lonely.
  12. Have a read of Pushpits recent QM2 TA. He has written including photos a very detailed account of the meals and menus from Britannia restaurant.
  13. I have never spoken to agent yet who has not told me about their favourite ship, cabin, cruise etc.. and I ring up a lot as I never use TA and book 5-6 trips a year between Cunard and P&O so I am sorry I think your remark about Shoreside staff is unhelpful.
  14. She would be in a no different state to having been on any other cruise.
  15. The lemon soufflé has to be my all time favourite Cunard dessert. In the summer I was greedy and had two !! .
  16. Yes you can drop your baggage off from 11 15 and then return nearer your boarding time.
  17. Yes . Baggage drop off usually opens at 11: 15 . I always drop mine off and then go and park my car and return for boarding later.
  18. Wouldn’t occur to me not to bring my own so no idea what was offered as I never touched or looked at them.
  19. There is no daily curry. I have asked for steak in the past year and been given it but it is not listed on the menu as such.
  20. Why is this laughable ? They are allowing people with mobility issues onboard with their equipment and being pro active with regards to catering before boarding for those with a variety of issues. With all due respect it seems your gripe with Cunard is that you have to now have to pay extra for an accessible cabin albeit probably a better cabin in a better position so attracts a premium. Your issues with paying a single supplement is irrelevant to the accessibility argument. I don’t know the booking regulations in Canada but you may be able to get a refund? I hope you manage to find a more suitable line in the future for your needs but I would suggest you read their T and C’s thoroughly before booking to avoid disappointment, in case you miss something relevant again.
  21. I still don’t see how Cunard are denying you access to your cruise, they are following their own published rules which they are entitled to do as other posters have established and no rights are being violated. I am sure lots of us on here have contributed to society but I don’t feel it entitles me to any waiver of a company’s polices to suit my own situation. If you are unhappy or unwilling to pay the supplement for the accessible cabin which will be due to it being a better grade, in a better position and fluid pricing perhaps you could swop to a different cruise where an accessible cabin may be available at a better price. As a solo traveller myself I find the solo supplement premium high but at the end of the day it’s my choice to cruise with Cunard and I pay it because that’s the price of my trip and it’s not helpful to dwell on it.
  22. I have never thought of that and I am loving the concept. I have now acquired 3 bags on wheels over the years that I end up buying on the last day so I can pack all the extra stuff in and not have to carry it off and just send with my luggage.
  23. Unfortunately Carnival here in the U K have tightened up on their accessibility policies recently this year and assume this is world wide. I don’t think they are doing anything illegal. Did you book through a TA ? I would imagine the problem in the increased costs to you is the accessibility cabins now available are in a better location and different grade to what you have originally booked hence costing more. They probably actually don’t cost any more than a non accessible cabin in the same location/grade.
  24. It was with Nationwide. I have free travel insurance as part of my current account package and pay an extra £40 a year for cruise cover to cover missed ports, cabin confinement etc.. I use this account just for cruising as there are also no foreign transaction charges or fees and the exchange rates are very favourable.
