  1. That’s your choice but please allow those of us who are looking forward to her the chancel sailing on her to do so without being made to feel like we are putting up with 2nd best. I am looking very much looking forward to my 2024 14 nights voyage I also have several other bookings on QV and QM2 but there is still time an capacity for further Queen Anne bookings. At least with all those on here not wanting to sail there will be plenty of availability for those of us that do.
  2. The paid for private shuttle was very efficient I think it was about £5 return. I felt it was worth it as it drops you off right in the town centre. No complaints.
  3. It’s noticeable on strike days at my daughter’s who lives very near the costal route in the south west. Though you normally screen out the noise of the trains after a while you do notice they are not running.
  4. I have the opposite problem on Sea Days , too much choice. Sometimes it’s hard to fit in time for lunch between Insight lectures and other talks. I have to watch some talks on catch up getting ready. My only bugbear with that is that they are on continuous loop. I wish you could fast forward to the one you have missed.
  5. When I worked in a hospital in an administrative role we had a mandatory hand washing assessment every year. All clinical and non clinical staff had to take part. We had to wash our hands in a solution then put them in a machine which showed up all the areas we may have missed. It was a wake up call especially when you think you are thorough. I am sure every hospital is the same.
  6. I so agree. I like taking options. I always take extra. It gives me pleasure. I am with you on the shoes too. Luckily I live near Southampton and never fly . I drive myself I am a solo traveller so all the space is for me. I was a bit embarrassed before a 14 night cruise with 2 large and a small suitcase while waiting for the baggage pod to open , a lady kindly commented “ it’s annoying when partners just go off and leave you with the luggage isn’t it” I smiled and agreed. 🧳🧳🎒😂
  7. I second that do not rely on trains in this part of the world. Southampton is caught between several operators. I work in Southampton and have lost count of the number of people who have ended up with either an extra day working from home, left early to get home or ended up with a hefty taxi ride to get back to the station where they left their car. Sometimes when you know it’s a strike day you can plan but it’s the ad hoc cancellations that can be a worry. Strikes are planned for December.
  8. Well I am looking forward to it. I can’t see anything not to like but then I am easily pleased. I can’t be bothered to stress about cupboard and drawer space or bathroom configurations. Only negative thing I can think of is, understandably the itineraries are more expensive but hey ho it’s my choice to book at that price. Oh and I hope the Golden Lion menu has not been messed with or then I might be tempted to have a little moan. 😂🍽
  9. I am of the camp I can buy my own toiletries, boiled sweets and chocolates, if I want them. As recent as May I had an always available steak and numerous bowls of tomato soup. I prefer today’s prices and as I said happy to provide my toiletries etc.. and yes the late night buffet was open and busy too.
  10. You can’t compare 11 nights v 14 nights as a fair comparison Celebrity deducting OBC £218 a night P &O is £175 . P&O for me please. I prefer value for money.
  11. I have never seen any where this would be shown but then I only ever book My Cunard fares as I like the flexibility in case I need to move it. But as you say confirmed dining options and OBC would definitely suggest a Cunard Fare.
  12. If your booking confirmation has a cabin allocated it is likely a Cunard Fare. The Cunard Fare is more expensive. If cabin is to be allocated it is likely to have been a saver fare. The saver fares are always the headline prices.
  13. Like chocolate Advent Calendar My 30 year old daughter and son in law look forward to theirs every year
  14. They used to make the chocolates for M and S . I used to but mine there. One year I bought 15 boxes to give to the different home carers who visited my mum. As the house was always warm I though the garage would be cool to store them. Local mice population certainly enjoyed them. When I went to get them to wrap all that was left were a few half eaten bits and loads of plastic and foil. Emergency trip to CoOp.
  15. Me too. Use serviettes if I have to touch utensils
  16. As it’s only web pages not an app there would be no way of using the free WiFi for any purpose other than using My Holiday . There is no functionality for contacting other people. If that’s something your friends need or want to do they will need to purchase WiFi for sea days and use their service providers internet access when in port.
  17. You won’t get any further discounts if the price drops after you book. You are locked in at that price. Sometimes if there are substantial savings it’s cheaper to rebook and loose your previous deposit.
  18. You definitely can’t book without a name. I have added an adult daughter onto a solo booking and just paid the extra .
  19. I have just priced a Black Friday event cruise. It comes up at about £50 less than I am paying but with no onboard credit so not a win for me. Seems that the best prices are on the early savers and I wouldn’t want one of those. So no Black Friday deal for me.
  20. Yes I followed her on CruiseMapper. She had a interesting route. Always like to track her in home waters.
  21. I don’t understand the concept of a trial run A trial run of what. Nothing had changed except for some lovely new carpets and upholstery. The the menus were same as in May August and September and the portions no different in size. I can appreciate there needed to be sea trials given all extensive mechanical work but for service I recognised the same waiters and other staff around the ship I had seen before this year. I was fortunate to have really enjoyed my short birthday break and not encountered problems that others seemed to have had. Nothing booked on QM until later next year but will be on QV for the first time this year in December so will be interesting to see any differences.
  22. You won’t be able to assume Cunard will be able to supply a wheelchair. They usually only have the emergency use ones from The Medical Centre. Folk who need them onboard or for embarkation have to hire them through Mobility at Sea, again a separate enterprise. If you are likely to need any form of assistance it’s essential you check with your T A or Cunard direct.
  23. I had a sheltered balcony as did a daughter on another deck. Another daughter had a inside on deck 10 . We all ate late fixed sitting in Britannia. We experienced no issues around the ship and certainly didn’t have any problems with turn down service or receiving correct communications in a timely fashion. I had a late departure time 9 50. Steward asked me if I minded him reconfiguring the beds when I was at breakfast. Made no odds to me. My bag was neatly on the sofa and not in his way. He went out of his way to help me pack up my birthday flowers. Only negative comment was Britannia was quite cold the first night but no issues after that. I was only onboard in September and noticed no difference in service. It was very busy especially in Golden Lion at lunch time. Weather was awful so everyone was inside. Didn’t really go to Kings Court except for an ice cream so no idea what it was like there. Afternoon Tea was very busy and many folk took their’s in The Britannia restaurant. Given the ship was sailing at capacity, the awful weather and a lot of first timers I was happy.
  24. Yes as the solo cabins were only added at a previous remaster they are more modern. They were like that before.
  25. My sheltered balcony has been repainted sparkling white and outside is looking very smart .
