  1. Thank you for posting as we are doing the same itinerary 2 weeks after you. I look forward to reading whatever you share. Enjoy your cruise!!!
  2. Following along as we board Ascent on 2/11. First time on X so trying to learn as much as possible from these Live reports. Thanks for taking us along and have a great cruise!
  3. That’s an excellent suggestion!
  4. I wouldn’t recommend bringing any TP from home as it can (and most likely will) result in a plugged up toilet that will also affect those in cabins around you. The ships use TP that is specifically designed for the vacuum toilet systems and any attempt to flush something it isn’t designed for can be a real problem. Trust me it’s not a fun experience when someone around you is throwing something in the toilet that isn’t designed for the system they have onboard.
  5. What time were you dining in the MDRs?
  6. Did they return it at the end of the cruise?
  7. We board the Ascent on Super Bowl Sunday so hoping they have that game on the big screen. I’m looking forward to watching it with a bunch of screaming fans!!!
  8. All checked in and ready to follow along! Have a great trip!!!
  9. @doghog Thanks you for the information. We did request the status match when we first booked the cruise.
  10. Following as we are going on our first X cruise next month. We will be sailing on the Ascent in a Sunset Veranda cabin. Looking forward to trying something new as we normally sail on Princess but also have experience with RC, NCL and Carnival.
  11. Or being through a hurricane on the Fair Princess in 1990 and the A/C system wasn’t working on this ship. Lots of sick people from the hurricane and all areas on the ship being hot and humid. #worstcruiseever
  12. We are experienced cruisers but as mentioned above this will be our first time on X. I have a question about the dining. We have fixed time at 6 pm. Will X assign us to one of the 4 dining rooms for all meals or will we be able to try each one? If we are in only one are we able to order off the menu of another one? For example if we areassigned to Tuscan for each meal can we order an entree from the Cyprus menu? TIA for any advice you can offer.
  13. We will be on the Ascent in 5 weeks and this will be our first cruise on X. What are some of the things you love about the ship? Looking for any ideas about things we shouldn’t miss.
  14. Sorry about that as I was the one that started us down the rabbit hole. 🐰
  15. Thanks Ken. I appreciate your tips as I know you’ve done several sailings on Celebrity as well as Princess. I will keep an open mind (and an open wallet)! One question. From your experience are the shows difficult to get into? How early do you need to be there to get a seat? The shows are important to us and we want to go to as many as possible as this is one thing we love to do in the evening.
  16. My first cruise with Princess was in 1995 and I can say it was “my worst cruise ever”. At the time I considered Princess to be a one and done. I said I would never sail on another Princess ship again. I eventually did give them another try when my parents booked a cruise on Princess and I really wanted to go with them. I’m happy to say that 2nd cruise did win me over and I’m now Elite with Princess. In contrast to the original post, we are going on our first Celebrity cruise next month and they are really going to have to give me a big wow factor for me to sail on them again. I’m finding Celebrity to be very expensive. Cabins are more expensive, no MDR lunch on embarkation day unless we pay extra for concierge class (no thank you). Steakhouse is over $140 for 2 vs. $78 on Princess. I’m also going to miss the all-inclusive Plus and Premier packages that Princess offers. Everything on Celebrity seems to be a la carte unless sailing in suites which were just way out of line compared to Princess. The only positive thing I have to say so far for Celebrity is we were able to get a Sunset Veranda cabin and book an internet package at 50% off. We like the food on Princess so we will see in just over a month how the food on Celebrity compares. Based on the OP I hope the food on Celebrity is amazing!
  17. We refer to these cabins as the Fab Four (L107, L108, M107, M108). These are the cabins we book whenever we can get them. Love the huge balconies. We did B2B on the Discovery in November and we were able to use the balcony when sailing from LA to Mexico. It was so nice, warm and not too windy. On the way back to LA it was a little too cold and windy for me when the sun went down but when the sun was out I loved sitting on the balcony, reading and enjoying a coffee drink. If you can get one of these cabins I think you are very lucky.
  18. Yes they do still have the program.
  19. I know this is going to sound like a stupid question but can you please explain what is involved in a wet landing vs. a dry landing? We haven’t taken any exotic small cruises and I’m particularly interested in what you do for a wet landing and how wet do you get? TIA. BTW I am loving your photos and I for one do appreciate when you post your pigeon photos! This trip though has such amazing wildlife and I’m thinking we may need to try a small cruise in the future.
  20. Thanks for your reports and wishing you a great cruise. We are sailing on the 2/11 sailing and are looking forward to trying Celebrity for the first time. We have a fixed dining time at 6 pm and I’m wondering if we will be assigned one of the 4 dining rooms? Or are you able to try the different dining rooms with the traditional, fixed time dining?
