  1. I cruised last year from Rome to Miami, embarking mid-November. Had great weather, as we got closer to the Caribbean and further south, the pool started to get busier. Great weather, I think we might’ve had some rain on one day. of course, I think November weather is much more variable. You “takes you chances”!
  2. On Wednesday I will embark on my first Regent cruise, Mariner cruising from Los Angeles to Lima Perú. It is the second cruise I have booked on Regent, the first cruise that I booked will sail in February 2024, from San Antonio Chile to BsAs, Argentina. Both Regent itineraries offered a very low single supplement, only 25%. Oceania’s single supplement seems to be around 50% more often. Since I prefer to fly business air, pricing on Regent has been competitive with Oceania. In theory I prefer Oceania’s à la cart pricing. I booked multiple cruises back before cruising resumed so I got some really good prices. Going forward prices are looking more expensive. I’m not thinking that I will utilize the book onboard discounts on my Regent cruise, but I’m looking forward to booking on board the next time I cruise on Oceania, Aruba to Lisbon in March 2023. On Oceania, I like having the option to organize private tours or join private tours others on the rollcall have organized. I like being able to bring wine on board Oceania and consuming in my cabin or paying a reasonable corkage fee if I would like to consume wine with a meal. I also take advantage of the two for one happy hour when the mood strikes me. So, I like to think I’ve “optimized” my drinking; generally consuming less than when I have an all-inclusive drinks package. I drink plenty as it is, I don’t need encouragement to drink more. I’ve been on 2 O cruises - loved them both and I have 3 more booked. All that to say that while I will probably prefer O, I think I’ll love them both!
  3. Any guesses when the next set of Cruises will be released, presumably sometime in the spring of 2023. I’ll be on board Sirena in late March, and I’m hoping to be able to take advantage of the book on board promotion at that time.
  4. I can answer your first question. When you make a reservation that includes the booking number of your friends, that counts for their allowable reservation. They will not then be able to book a reservation on their own. You will have “used” their allowance. I’m sure someone more knowledgeable than I am will answer your other questions. Sounds like a great cruise, have a blast!
  5. Drat! I booked a solo veranda cabin in September 2024 that disembarks in “Venice”. not to worry, lemonade out of lemons. I plan on extending my vacation a few days using reward points at a hotel in Venice. I look forward to my return to my favorite city on this planet, although I suspect it might have changed in the last 40 years since I’ve been there.
  6. Wait, I love that format. I’ve never found it on O’s website. Could you post a link? Thx!
  7. Which port does Regent use in Los Angeles? I told luggage forward to deliver my luggage to mariner at the port of San Pedro. I hope that was right. 10 days and counting! PS. I packed over the weekend. The luggage will be picked up this afternoon!
  8. If you are able to upload such lovely pictures, can I assume that the Internet is working well?
  9. Omigosh I love potato chips! They’re my Kryptonite!
  10. How do you know ahead of time that it’s going to come out bland unless you ask for extra spices?
  11. You will get a lot of responses to this question, and they will range all over the map. I always book with air from the cruise line, partly because I don’t have frequent flyer miles to use, and also because if the cruise gets canceled I won’t get stuck with an airline credit that I may or may not be able to use. Certainly the airline schedules are still messed up, and you should expect to have multiple changes to your schedule prior to your departure. That is out of O’s hands. So sit back, relax and let all the responses cascade upon us. Enjoy your cruise !
  12. In my kitchen, I easily wash it out with just hot water and a good scrub with my hands. It would be more difficult on a cruise. The only time I ever used soap on my water bottle, I regretted it over the next several days. Yuck. I have read other posters who were able to ask their state room steward or Butler to rinse it through with hot water.
  13. I am bring my insulated thermos from home, along with a pouch that it fits in nicely.
  14. I scheduled my 2 November test date this morning. When I opened the page to schedule, today’s date showed LOTS of openings. Looks like plenty of availability. Enjoy your cruise!

  16. +1! This is spot on! I’ve cruised twice on Uniworld on a special low price. Great cruiseline! I’d avoid Emerald and its parent Scenic as the corporate communications are rubbish. What a headache for 12 months, then a lovely 10 day cruise. No thx. I’ll send my money to a responsive cruiseline.
  17. Yes, i’ve read that you can book celebrity without the perks, unfortunately since I no longer cruise on X, I can’t help you further than that. But keep persevering. There is a way!
  18. I’d say they are catering to anyone who has money and is willing to spend it on a cruise!
  19. This is the best advice you’ve been given so far. A river cruise is a great way to see Europe. Cities were founded alongside rivers. Many of the great cities of Europe have a major river flowing through them. You will dock quite close to the historic city center, or maybe half an hour to 45 minutes away. There are many good river cruise lines. You will be able to pick according to your budget and your interests. Also check out the river cruising forum here on cruise critic. Lotta good information there. Enjoy your cruise !
  20. I promise not to wear leggings to dinner! 🤗
