  1. Tank museum in Bovington is fantastic even if you aren’t a history buff. can even do pre or post cruise out of Southampton.
  2. Aside from the usual canapés minibar stocking …. Our did a great job of securing additional specialty dining reservations take room service order and special item requests will deliver coursed room service if desired. kept ice bucket stocked brought my wife ice tea in vero bottle and kept it stocked in minibar. Brought Bloody Mary mix for the room for am breakfast . delivered notes that needed signatures to the front desk. facilitated a special anniversary dinner at prime 7. arranged sewing of torn belt loop on pants. deliver laundry and hang lots of little things but they added up to a very nice and pampered experience.
  3. Great thread and review - I'd agree more or less with everything mentioned. We didn't do the spa just the salon which was good. We stayed on our own in Bali and I had a fabulous 90 minute massage at the conrad for about 80USD (cheaper outside the hotel) Stayed in Singapore and the Mandarin Oriental and DW and I both had some of the best treatments ever albeit pricey still not what the ship price was.
  4. We were on that trip too AKL to Bali We enjoyed the cairns tour to Kuranda army duck and the train was fantastic. We did go to the train ticket office and paid about $30 US for an upgrade to gold class with complementary food tea beer and wine and more comfortable seats. Well worth it. Amazing views of the waterfall. We overnighted there and they changed us (we were supposed to go to the pontoon the first day but sounds like we made the right choice by sticking with the duck tour that day ) They have a nice aquarium there and some nice shopping in the downtown where the ship docks so easy walks albeit very warm. Not sure why regent doesn't simply offer aquarium tickets. The Maitland jail tour out of Newcastle was very interesting. The guide we had at the jail was a former guard there and wow what great stories. We were very disappointed with the territory zoo tour out of Darwin. Lots of walking but not a lot of interesting animals. The Australia zoo however was fantastic, the tender out of mooloolaba was dreadful. Extremely hot and slow as OP mention. I suspect they won't be going to Papua on your cruise either unless the local authorities make some changes. Just getting ready to leave Singapore today. Great food but can be expensive. Beers at hotel ($22 SGD per bottle) Yikes! The food courts are much better. And don't miss the cloud dome and flower dome at gardens by the bay if you like plants - phenomenal!
  5. One question I would have regarding the loyalty programs. Why hasn't regent adopted a spend approach to the seven seas society, (Similar to getting a cabin bonus on the airlines where you get a 50% bonus if business class and 100% in first.) Secondly is there a cross over between programs? I have only done one cruise on NCL with my kids when they were younger. I would love to do a family cruise, but I wouldn't bring younger grandkids on Regent, but I would consider staying in the Haven on NCL. Not that I would want to count NCL nights towards regent status, but can I get some equivalent status on NCL for that cruise?

  7. Bingo for weather enough said and you didn’t travel 16 hrs to get there either enough said you are comparing apples to oranges. And ***** are you talking about conspiracy theory’s I don’t think any one mentioned that nor that regent purposefully deceived they just screwed up.and I doubt they will drop prices for you, if it goes that far they will be out of business.
  8. I personally like 1017 and 1014 - PHB with large deck up high. It is under the pool deck though. Depends on the type of cruise warmer weather more room on larger balcony. I did notice Deck 7 PHB explorer 723 can get a fair amount of ocean spray in rougher windier seas. If you can take advantage of the 2 cat upgrade, then you can get PHB for Concierge D.
  9. 1) You were not in our shoes so you cannot comprehend all the intangible items that caused dissatisfaction 2) As Pingping eloquently stated, much was in regents' control 3) Regent assured people prior to boarding that everything was taken care of! It wasn't and then the communication was horrible on what was happening. So not exactly a relaxing cruise, especially having to go to destination services and stand in long lines to sort out the shore excursions. 4) Air was a big cost in the equation $7000pp 5) get your facts straight we missed Bay of islands Napier, Tasmania Geelong(great ocean road) and the Fjords (all are arguably some of the highlights of this cruise. Malborne arrival was late so not a bust but not as planned either and some shore-ex like the one we were on were cancelled because the ship was a day late. So more like 5 1/2 out of 9 ports and if you factor in the wow factor and weighted them it would be higher. 6) Regent set a precedent on the last cruise refunding the total amount And contractually they may owe nothing, but if you ever studied marketing once you lose a customer it costs X times more to replace them or get them back. The refund is a cost of bad business decisions. I have more currently on the books and trying a couple others - If they are as enjoyable, I may just cancel my regent ones and use the other lines, jury is still out on that one.
  10. Point is they should have offered more in FCC on any cruise with a longer time horizon. As others have said you that is a short planning horizon.
  11. Andy was a CD before and retired, but regent got him back his wife tammy is also involved onboard. He was really good. I guess many CD did their tutelage under him including David Nevin. He was missed on the second leg.
  12. the extended decks are much larger. If you are on a warm weather journey much more useful. Note on spendor the 10th floor extenion runs in the middle too. Hence PHB 1014 and 17 have a large deck
  13. Wow, this is pitiful come sail with us on cruises that aren't selling as compensation for our mistake. I wonder what marketing genius thought this up. How it appears to me: regent admitted the messed up and they want to offer you a useless and obsolete prize. Dear Valued Guest, We hope that you had a safe and smooth journey home from your recent cruise, and we thank you once again for your patience and understanding following the disruption experienced on your sailing. Regent Seven Seas Cruise prides itself on delivering unrivaled destination experiences and we are aware that, due to local regulations in New Zealand, this was not what was experienced on this occasion. Therefore, in addition to the compensation already awarded, as a gesture of goodwill, we would like to provide you with an exclusive offer of 50% savings* off the voyage fare of the following wonderful sailings. The savings on these cruises are combinable with any existing valid Future Cruise Credits, including any awarded as compensation on your disrupted sailing. 14. Staff was excellent. I would say, at least in my observation, was the officers were a little standoffish.
  15. Highly recommend the train at least on way in Skagway, If you have kids they will love seeing the sled dogs and going for a ride also in Skagway but other places probably too. If you go out of Seward one of the boat rides to whale, seal, seabirds and glacier watch was a big highlight as well a great aquarium with behind-the-scenes puffin feeding - another hit for kids. You will spend time in one of the glacier areas on board.
  16. I didn't really mind the muster but agree that I don't need to watch the video twice before then again in my suite and again at the muster. The one thing I didn't like was having to wait until everyone checked in before we started and of course there were some that were 10 minutes late. Perhaps they should have a raffle or offer regent points to encourage those to be on time. Nothing like the stampede of folks heading to trivia on time... like the Serengeti (said it jest)
  17. they paid AA 59 days out on my ticket, but with AA status you can do it anytime. Our friends don't have gold status, but our TA was able to get them seats assigned. You could always get AA gold fairly easily and quickly with a credit card and AAdvantage eshopping.
  18. I was referring to requesting a specific butler on an upcoming cruise such as bitob mentioned.
  19. How do you go about requesting a butler?
  20. AmEx centurion give $500 OBC and wine tasting. On Silverses they give a bottle of Dom instead of the wine tasting. You get double amex membership points on cruise bookings. On a 25K cruise that is worth 50K points ($500) value or more depending on how you use the points.
  21. I read on some boards butlers aren't in the gratuity pool or in the included gratuities. What is the case with regent? Or butler was excellent on our 32 day cruise and did some special things and we had several dinners in the room. So without getting into the big argument is there any standard? I've seen ranges from 10-15 per day per person to 10 per day. Just looking for a range on what is customary among regent passengers.
  22. I did request to fly out of linate LIN instead of MXP as it is closer to downtown . There is a BA flight that leaves at the same time to connect in LHR. Regent air wanted 2100pp to fly out of LIN instead of MXP. Crazy.
  23. Usually back same evening if out in morning .
