  1. Since I currently work in baggage for a major US carrier, I think I have some experience with this. Arriving three hours early does not give you a better chance of having your bags loaded than if you arrive one hour early. The bags just go down the chute and are are hopefully grouped together with other bags for your flight, until ramp is ready to load the bags. And, just because you checked more than one bag together, does not mean they all will be loaded onto the flight; they are not velcroed together. Your bag is not loaded for an international flight until you actually board the flight. ALL airlines to my knowledge, at least in the US, close the door to the jetbridge 10-15 minutes before the flight for domestic flights, usually earlier for international. So, pax who run up to the gate at 13:50 for a flight that leaves at 14:00 are usually out-of-luck. Pleading for the gate to be opened is a waste of time. You are late and your seat has probably already been released and assigned to a standby passenger. It is not a simple issue to "just open the door, I can see the plane is still sitting there." The gate agent can see who is arriving on connecting flights, and believe me, this is being tracked. We don't want to prevent you from boarding, but when you run up to the gate after the jetbridge door has been closed, and I can see your connecting flight arrived 30 min ago, two gates down, and you are loaded down with Starbucks cups, I honestly don't have much sympathy.
  2. I have never noticed any heeling.
  3. Speaking from some personal experience, I would cancel now and get treatment. The cruise can be rescheduled and it will be something to look forward to. This is an unpredictable and new thing; it’s not the same as having controlled seizures for years. I also would get a second opinion. Good luck.
  4. Having made that drive many times, I totally agree. Would be faster to drive.
  5. I don’t know your travel dates, but round-trip fare for PDX-SEA averages about $113 per person from the end of August onward and most of the time stays under $200 even on dates it goes up. Is it such a better deal to book through NCL?
  6. To clarify, it is not a “no cost” stay, Iceland is very expensive and you pay for your stay. They offer a free stopover.
  7. One needs to read the entire report to put this score in context. Appears all issues were promptly addressed. https://wwwn.cdc.gov/InspectionQueryTool/InspectionResults.aspx
  8. I went through a couple months ago and removed my glasses. Honestly don’t remember if it was required.
  9. I have seen this backfire on pax who had to gate check bags. They come down to baggage claims and ask for their bags. Because their bag tags show the airport as a connecting city, the bags are stored in a separate facility, to be loaded on the next flight, and they don’t come out on the baggage carousel. We just tell them they need to pick up their bags at their tagged final destination, and then send a report to our security dept about suspected hidden city ticketing. Airlines certainly monitor this activity.
  10. Between these two choices, I would pick Iceland Air.
  11. As to baggage, found this article: https://viewfromthewing.com/american-airlines-will-allow-passengers-to-check-bags-on-longer-connections/
  12. Dad admits family has been doing this for seven to eight years. Mom posted on another travel board (she has since deleted her posts) that they had no idea this was wrong and she’s been trying to contact skiplagged, com to warn them about what they were doing. This webpage has many warnings so there is really no way they didn’t know this was not allowed. This story would never have become public if dad had not done an interview. No sympathy here.
  13. Many people have overnight connections. Book at the Hilton which is right by the airport. You will be glad you got some rest and chance to shower. https://www.hilton.com/en/hotels/seaahhh-hilton-seattle-airport-and-conference-center/
  14. Use matrix.itasoftware.com to search for flights.
  15. There are many, many posts with this topic. You can search on this forum to pull up these threads.
  16. BA charges outrageous taxes on award tickets; that's why I use my AA miles on tickets to the Caribbean, not Europe. You will get dinner and breakfast on the flight from JFK. You can cancel with no penalty and change your flights. I would get ready for schedule changes booking so far in advance anyway. Your connection is pretty tight for the summer. I would not be comfortable with one hour, but again, this time will probably change.
  17. Book 330 days to get the most schedule and equipment changes.
  18. Airline employees consult Timatic. No idea what cruise lines use.
  19. If I had to deal with all that stuff, I would not travel. You do not need "hot hands" in Sept. in Europe. Most ships will provide a mattress topper.
  20. UA and French Bee also fly to PPT from SFO. Just another option if you get stuck.
  21. Any flights booked would follow the baggage policies of the airline, and I don't know of any airline they would use that wouldn't give you one free 50 lb checked bag, though of course, I can't say for sure. I see no advantage and many disadvantages. Check the price and be aware of what you are purchasing.
  22. I couldn't agree more. I won't go there either for the same reasons.
