  1. @RMLincoln Great news that your DH was able to help with the driving.  I'm sure he is elated.  My condolences on the passing of your SIL.  I hope your DB and family can heal and be sustained by their memories.  I hope your relationship with your DB strengthens.

I'm almost packed for the trip to Ohio.  I plan to be up and on the road early tomorrow as I want to get into Columbus early before traffic gets too bad.

  2. Good morning!

It is a really chilly start to the day at 26F here in mid-Michigan.  It will get up to the mid 50s with abundant sunshine.  I have a luncheon with former high school classmates today.  That is followed by a haircut with a new stylist.  I have not been happy with the old one.  It was just not a good fit.

    @ger_77 Happy Birthday to Maurice!

Today's meal sounds delightful.  Anything that is garlicky gets my attention.  This one is low carb and makes for a great healthy meal. And super easy to make as well!   https://www.eatingwell.com/recipe/7919492/one-pot-garlicky-shrimp-broccoli/

This next one is very similar but does have a few differences.  https://cleanfoodcrush.com/easy-shrimp-garlicky-broccoli-skillet/

This last recipe is quite a bit different.  There is a sauce that has honey, soy sauce and ginger in it.  https://thesaltymarshmallow.com/garlic-shrimp-and-broccoli/

    I think I'm sticking with #1.

I have had a horrible day.  Last Thursday I made a call to the Doctor to ask for some help since DH was having anxiety issues about going on the trip.  i also sent a message through the portal.  There was no response.  I again made another call and no response.

Then last evening at 5:40 there was a call from the pharmacy to pick up some meds.  I didn’t know if it was for DH or me.  Well it was anti-anxiety meds for him.  No phone call, nada.  Too little too late.

I am livid.  If the response had been timely, we might be on our way to Rome.  Instead i am just so angry at the way things turned out and not let DH feel he is to blame.

I have cancelled everything and maybe I jumped the gun by doing it so quickly.

    Thanks for letting me vent.

    Terri

As @Quartzsite Cruiser Lenda said, you made the best decision with the information you had at the time.  Even if the doctor had called back and discussed the anti-anxiety meds with you, it is probably better that you not go so far away as you don't know how Jim will react to the meds. Will they help him?  Will he have any side effects?   I know it is hard, but like you decided at the time, it is for the best.

@Haljo1935 So how do you get the anti theft to turn off?  I looked up the incident at your local high school.  One injured, one in custody.  So senseless.

  4. Good morning, everyone!

Quite a bit cooler today with highs only in the mid 50s.  But, we will have a lot of sunshine and that makes up for the cool temps in my book. I'm going to hit the gym and then pull out the suitcase and start packing for my trip to Ohio.  I'm looking forward to seeing old friends.  Nothing else on the agenda for today.

I am thrilled with the news from @JazzyV and @RMLincoln.  Now, I'm pulling for a trifecta with @ger_77's DH.  Let's do it!

Today's meal sounds like a good one, although I could easily forego the salmon patties for a nice slab of salmon.  I might also add in some romaine or other lettuce to the arugula.  https://www.eatingwell.com/recipe/280003/easy-salmon-cakes-with-arugula-salad/

What type of boat was used?

I am happy to hear all the positive medical updates!

It was a Zodiac.  The concession was run by Captain Jack or something like that.  The boat ride was an experience in itself as you had to hang on to the ropes on the side. You sat on the side of the Zodiac as there were no seats.

I am tired. DH had 2 slices of pizza (that we brought with us) and is resting. I’m so glad we got through this procedure. It all happened!  What a gift!  Tomorrow we do the day-1 check, remove patch, restart meds. Keep moving forward.

Thrilled for Vanessa @JazzyV!  Amazing right?  Fantastic news. Let the healing begin!  🎆

Thanks @bennybear for the beautiful pictures. Ahhh. It’s good for the soul!

I think I’ll take the rest of the day off…

Thank you for the great news.  I'm thrilled all went so well.

Let's keep the good news coming.  @ger_77 Maurice is next!

  6. Good morning, everyone!

It is a gray day today with intermittent rain showers predicted.  All the better for those May flowers that will soon be here.  I will be so happy when the trees finish budding out.  Apparently, tree pollen is a big irritant to me.  I'm sure once the trees finish, the grass will take over.

@RMLincoln Keeping you and DH in my thoughts today that all goes well.

@Haljo1935 Hoping all goes well with your procedure today.

@JazzyV I hope you are resting comfortably.  I'm glad BFF is with you.

I have a pedicure this morning and hope that is all I need to deal with.  Yesterday got busy with details for the conference I am attending on Saturday.  I left the position of State Director two years ago, but for some reason, I am in charge of the details of this conference.  Or at least it seems like I am.

Today's meal sounds tasty.  What makes it stand out is the scallion ginger sauce.  https://www.eatingwell.com/recipe/272931/sheet-pan-sesame-chicken-broccoli-with-scallion-ginger-sauce/

    sesamechickenandbroccoli.jpeg.61f4ea97a441a3bf6a7f4d0bfadbb50b.jpeg

This one uses chicken that has been cut up into cubes.  It doesn't have a separate sauce, but does bring in the ginger along with a sweet chili sauce.  https://www.eatyourselfskinny.com/sheet-pan-sesame-chicken-and-veggies/

Here is one more variation that uses just broccoli as the vegetable.  https://www.punchfork.com/recipe/Sesame-Chicken-and-Broccoli-Sheet-Pan-Meal-Kalyns-Kitchen

How do you capture the handle that way. When you mention someone by the handle It appears in blue. How do you do that?

Start by typing the @ symbol.  Then you start typing the handle.  @sha......   a list of screen names comes up and you can choose the one you want from the list.  When you click on the name of choice in the list, you get the blue bubble.  @shadow 123.

In 2017 I went on the 38 day Voyage of the Viking and spent some time in Iceland. Then last year I did the 25 day cruise to Iceland. I enjoyed it.. I just enjoy  cruising.  I love the crew on the Holland America line  .Just great... But Honestly I don't think I'd go back to Iceland again.

I had been to Iceland before as well, but really liked the number of ports.  I wish Reykjavic had been an overnight.  We enjoy cruising, but also love the nature ports.

Quick note. I survived. Thanks for the prayers and good wishes. Longer and more difficult procedure. Just getting home. More tomorrow.

I'm glad you are home.  Thanks for letting  us know.  We'll keep sending you healing thoughts.  Be well and don't do too much!

Hi Debbie  - Hope you and Sue are both doing well.   Funny you said you would do Iceland again - Marge and I have said the same thing since we were on that cruise with you.     Funny thing is - Holland had their 1 day deposit sale of $1 this week and we went ahead and booked the 25 day cruise to Iceland on the Volendam 7/12/25.    Now we have something great to look forward to.    Say Hi to Sue.  Take care!
    Maryell

Great to hear from you!   I wish we could swing that cruise in 2025, but we are doing South America/Antarctica in January and then Spain and a TA in November.  I think that will use up our ink supply for the money printing press in the basement.  Hi to Marge and take care!

We rarely do the MDR, but there have been some unusual puds in Lido.  What I don't like to see is the unnecessary extra dusting of icing sugar on the puddings. It is a recent phenomenon that I don't  appreciate. Hard enough to keep the daily calorie count down without adding unnecessary sugar.

I am totally with you on the added sugar issue.  I mention it on every evaluation.  They put sugar in a lot of stuff that would be fine without it.
