  1. You are not wimps. 43 is COLD. Have a fabulous cruise. Would appreciate all tips about embarcation at San Pedro as I've never sailed from there before. Only San Diego. Seems strange to fly all the way across the country for a cruise when I have many cruise ports practically in my back yard.
  2. I never check in for anything more than the first cruise. And their telling you to go to Guest Relations to re-register your credit card is a joke. I've done this twice now, being a good person and following directions. Guest Relations person just looks at me like I'm crazy and says they have my card on file. Never again.
  3. My brilliant butler on the Summit had a way to stop all those intrusive phone calls. Don't know what he did, but they stopped. They really are annoying.
  4. Interesting to hear these reports of lack of service. My last two cruises were two B2Bs on the Summit: one in the PH and one in a RS. I had excellent service from the shoreside concierge--she even remembered who I was when I booked the fall cruises. Could not have asked for better butlers or cabin attendants. The cabin attendant from the PH in the spring had been promoted to butler by the fall and I was able to get him assigned as my butler. The people in Luminae in the fall remembered me from the spring, even how I liked my bacon cooked--it was like coming home. So I have been very pleased with my recent experiences on Celebrity. I'm just sorry Summit has been given those short 4 and 5 night cruises. Not a fan. Even stringing two of those together would not be enough for me. I spent 18 nights in the spring and 16 in the fall.
  5. Yes, it's definitely wonderful to encounter the same crew as before, particularly when they remember where you like to sit and how you like your bacon cooked. Or a former cabin attendant who was promoted and is now your butler. Have a great cruise!
  6. I have organized several group cruises and not a dime went to the TA except for her regular commission. It all went to Celebrity.
  7. There are a few in suiteland which open. For example, between 6143, 6145, and 6147. All three of those rooms are different classes.
  8. I have several pairs of these from suites. This October, the slippers in my royal suite had a big X on them. I used a pair while on the ship, but did not bring the other paid home.
  9. If the Lyft driver doesn't know where Port Everglades is, I'm not sure I would want to ride with him/her.
  10. Sorry to hear that. No, your expectations weren't too high. The quality of the staff was too low. I don't know if that's a function of it's having been a short cruise, but your experience in the PH should not have been like that. I sailed in the PH on the Summit last spring and the butler and the cabin attendant were awesome. The cabin attendant was so good, he was promoted to butler and was my butler on a 4-night cruise I added on to the 12-night repo on the Summit in October. I was in a royal suite on both cruises and the service was excellent. Being sick of the pajamas, I asked for and received a new robe instead.
  11. Have to say I agree with you about the Atlanta airport. Just about the worst airport in the universe. When I lived in Minneapolis, I could fly nonstop pretty much anywhere in the world on Delta. From Florida everything goes through Atlanta. Ugh. If I'm going west, I fly American through DFW.
  12. Do you have direct experience with this? Please do not post misinformation. I have sailed solo and have been offered this.
  13. It's up to the maitre d' of Luminae whether or not this is possible. It depends on how crowded Luminae is.
  14. Those robes have been available in suites for years now.
  15. You must not have sailed with Celebrity lately. Now you go directly to your cabin, drop your carryon luggage, collect your key, and then you are free to go to whatever venues are open.
  16. I'm currently on Summit and I received the PJs. Told the suite concierge I'm awash in PJs and I'd really prefer a robe. Will see what happens on the next leg.
  17. Don't expect wheelchair help in Boston--it's non existent. Unions prevent Celebrity employees from coming to collect you. I'll never sail out of Boston again. I suspect it's much better organized in Florida because the cruise lines would probably go out of business if they treated people like we were treated in Boston. Haven't had occasion to use it in Florida yet. I would suspect that you would be able to push the chair yourselves since it's privately owned. But if you are not in a suite or a handicapped cabin, there may be an issue getting it through the cabin door.
  18. Best of luck for your quick recovery. How was your boarding experience in Boston for the first cruise? It was a complete cluster when we boarded yesterday. No separate Retreat luggage or entrance areas and absolutely no wheelchairs available. The Boston bureaucrats apparently do not permit the Celebrity personnel to come ashore and help those who need wheelchairs. I won't be sailing out of Boston anytime soon again. If they operated like this in Florida, they would go out of business fast. Once on board, it's a whole different environment. Thankfully. My waiter remembered me from the spring repo--he even remembered that I like crispy bacon! We have the same awesome maitre d' we had in the spring. We had a fun slot pull today, and wonder of wonders, I was the top winner. I've never won anything in the casino before. So everybody was happy with that because they left with more money than they came with. Then we had a fun tasting featuring egg creams and mallomars from New York and some sort of good nuggets from Texas--can't remember their name. We have a great group of people on this cruise and everyone seems to be having a good time.
  19. I'm leaving on one of those sailings that calls at Bermuda tomorrow. I had a terrible time getting a test. Had an appointment at Walgreens. When I showed up at my appointed time, they announced they weren't doing tests! Finally found Med Express which is very professional and only charged me my usual co pay. If you have them in your city, I would highly recommend them. Results in 15 minutes.
  20. I believe the current pricing structure for specialty restaurants has the gratuity included.
