  1. Too many people sailing in YC. Most are on other ships. I posted three day menus in my Live from back in Dec. But menus change. I will be on Seashore June 23, but on a 7 day. EM
  2. It’s only four nights. Think of it as camping. Or maybe glamping, as it’s on a cruise ship. EM
  3. Yes. No travel irons, but hair appliances are, much as cruise lines would like to ban them. EM
  4. On our second cruise on Divina, we hadn’t left port before we could see/smell our balcony neighbor smoking on the balcony. We immediately called guest services. They came right up, and it never happened again. EM
  5. From the few pictures I could find on cruisedeckplans, it looked like you will have a bunksofa. Did not see any marks in the ceiling that indicate Pullman uppers. You can ask your steward to make it back into a couch during the day. The main challenge would be storage and the tiny bathroom. The advantage of the aft cabin would be a large balcony, slightly larger bathroom because it has a tub/shower, and My Time dining. EM
  6. Unless you are a dedicated bottled water drinker, you can bring a refillable bottle and fill with water, iced tea, lemonade, some kind of punch all day in the buffet. Wide mouth bottles allow you to add ice. I’m not much of a drinker either, maybe a drink or two, a couple diet cokes, which are very expensive. I fill my cup with iced tea, sweetener, and a shot of lemonade. If they are out of lemonade I get a wedge of lime from the bar in the buffet. I will be boarding Seashore on the 23rd, doing a Live from thread, so when that is started you can ask me questions there. EM
  7. Best, or better depends on what your wants/needs for a cruise are. If you are traveling with children, the newer, larger ships with lots of kid friendly attractions might be what you want. But if you are a little old lady like me, you might not want a huge ship where you need a Segway to get from your cabin to the MDR. My Fitbit likes all those steps, though. You need to think about what your vacation style is and choose accordingly. Another feature to keep in mind…technology. The newer ships have a lot of features that depend on a cellphone for best utilization. An intranet app that opens your cabin door, shows you menus and activities. If you are not comfortable with this, maybe an older ship would suit you better. EM
  8. My experience has been unless I add them when booking, I can’t add them online later. The option just isn’t there. But I believe you can call to add them. EM
  9. Unless she got a fare that was less than the usual 100% single supplement, it should only be the taxes and fees. EM
  10. The problem is no matter that she has accepted her previous situation was a scam, they told me there is no charge as she voluntarily gave him the money. At first it was he would come to meet her if she sent xxxx money, she would get it back. Then there were circumstances that kept him from coming and he needed more money. This one is starting the same way. She is saying the employer, Hallmark, will not allow them to actually talk to each other. And that the ‘card’ is part of the Hallmark requirements. She is not scamming me, I’m too smart. No cash from me. EM
  11. He may be flying into FLL but will have to make his way to Miami to board Magic. EM
  12. At the top of the Carnival board page are a bunch of ovals. Below them are See posts about…and then Select Ship. Clicking on Select ship, you get a dropdown menu of the ships. Click on Magic and you will get a list of threads about her. EM
  13. It is the same as every cruise line sailing Alaska from Seattle. You will sail west of Vancouver Island, but you won’t be close enough to really see much. Until you get into the northern Inside Passage land will be starboard, once in the passage sights will be both sides. When you are glacier viewing the ship will rotate every 30 min. or so so that everyone who isn’t out on the promenade moving around can get a view. But remember, what goes up must come down…so views that were starboard going up will be port coming back. EM
  14. Believe me, I know about green cards. I paid for the renewal of a long expired one for a friend who was German. With the lawyer fees it cost me $1450. My niece now tells me it is a requirement from Hallmark. Bull. EM
  15. This has nothing to do with cruising, but I am desperate. I have living with me a niece with no sense. Not retarded or anything but poor judgment. She is basically a parasite, no job in 20 years, supported by her mother (my late sister) and I inherited her. She got scammed out of her income and inheritance earlier this year by someone claiming to be an actor in Hallmark channel movies. She finally has realized that was a scam. But now she says she contacted the real actor and he wants to come and give her money. But the first sum she needs from me to enable this was $10,000. Hard no, another scam. Tonight she needs $500 cash so she can get a green card for him so she can pick him up at the airport.??? What is this card? Why would she have to pay for it, but he will get it. Can someone tell me if it exists, what it is? He is Canadian, we are in the US. Thanks for listening to my rant. EM
  16. It looks like someone bought the kit and put it together in their garage. Sort of like the Citroen 2CV that I always thought looked like a VW bug put together from a kit. EM
  17. In December the only smoking was the side room off the Sports Bar. I will be on her again June 23 and will be sure to check. I’ll be doing another Live From…. EM
  18. Yes, there will be one EU style outlet, so you will only be able to use one appliance at a time. Bring a plug adapter. EM
  19. Back in 2005 I was on a professional group tour of Greece that involved a four day cruise. The line was Louis Lines, which later changed name to Celestyal. We visited six islands in 4 days. The ship was very small and basic, but the food and service were great. I certain,y would sail them again. EM
  20. Well, apparently we have two facts: 1. The parents missed the ship 2. The son did not. the dynamics, from the parents point of view, are missing. Likely we will never get the point of view of the ship. Now, let the speculation begin. They sound like the people who make the tour bus wait…. EM
  21. It can’t be a dead end, because SOLAS state there have to be two avenues of exit from every cabin. It’s one of the reasons some classic ships, particularly QE2, could not be updated to meet code in an economic manner. EM
  22. Welcome to the VV board. Don’t worry about your meds. My sister traveled with Victoza and they never noticed. It is my understanding that they don’t book a slots in the restaurants online, and depending on when you want to dine, you might be able to just walk up. I have a feeling I will be taking most of my meals in the Galley. I have done many B2B cruises but not on Virgin. But my experience is if you have the same cabin you just leave it as is. You will have to leave the ship so it can zero out, and go through immigration. You will get a letter in your cabin telling you how they will do it. The message boards here are call ROLL CALLs, in a separate forum here. I just looked and didn’t see a roll call for your sailing, although I did discover there is now one for my cruise on July 14. EM
  23. Perhaps you aren’t familiar with the bracelet. The bracelet does everything for you on the ship except ding you off and back on. You need your card for that. Bracelets are available at the photo kiosk and cost $10. Get one for someone in your cabin and have the boy in grandpa’s cabin wear it and he will be able to enter your cabin. Here are pictures. (Before someone butts in…they are automatically issued to all in Yaxht Club and are free to them).
