  1. hmm - guess we will agree to disagree - generally speaking you CANNOT use non-refundable (usually from HAL or CCL credit) in the casino. The loyalty credits are specifically marked that way on our statement with something like “not for cash or casino’. HAL has gotten much better at tracking it. I have used it for the crew incentive, HSC or gratuity - whatever you like to call it.
  2. What wonderful news!!! I will be talking to my dogs’ vacation home person - Debbie. I need to a) make sure she could take it next year and doesn’t mind this year (I hadn’t cancelled Marley yet - I cancelled Miko’s but everything happened so fast and I was so sad, I couldn’t pick up the phone) b) she is willing. She’s used to rescues and knows how to take care of them. She won frightened Fox over in 24 hours. I think she would be ok assuming she gets here at the beginning of August. Of course, I have no idea what the plane trip will do to her 😞 I did fully disclose I was going away to the rescue organization. It doesn’t seem to be a concern to them so far but I have yet to hear from Anna in Egypt who has her. That will be key. Debbie if willing is excellent with frightened rescue dogs. Her heart goes out to them and she knows what to do and how. Assuming she is willing. Thanks Katharine. I too was in finance and it’s sound advice. I guess my friends feel a dog is a life changing decision whereas I do not as I have not been without a pet for nearly 5 decades! But, I do have some thinking to do.
  3. Thanks. They say widows should wait a year to make a major decision like selling a house, etc. I do lose focus at times still so I am a bit concerned about that but the dog is not scheduled to be shipped until August 1st. meanwhile I have already made a $4K decision on maintenance. DH and I both wanted it done so I don’t think it’s a major decision 😉
  4. Thanks for our Sunday Daily, Rich. Nice collection of days - who doesn’t like kittens or teddy bears or picnics? Pina coladas can be very refreshing on a hot day. I like the quote by Eliot. Intrigued by today’s meal suggestion. All bad things happen in 3’s, right? Here’s the very long story: When I was doing the 2nd batch of jam a few days ago, I felt like Jose was here watching me and smiling. It was an eerie, nice feeling. Well, I think he came back on Friday angrily. He was “saving” stuff and I am working on getting rid of it. I was ergonomically moving a speaker upstairs from the basement which had seen better days and had a dolly at the top to put it on. Put the bag on it first (stupid) and turned it over and plopped it on the dolly and it bounced and hit my toe cut the nail and needless to say a bandage was called for. I think Jose was mad at me for getting rid of it. In the morning I re-dressed it and Jose had trained me well enough on that and to think on my tetanus shot and I realized it was over 10 years so off I went to be safe. I attempted to hobble in the garden a bit yesterday but rested it quite a bit. That same night, I confided to a few that I had been approached to rescue & foster a very special Baladi dog. Canada is closing it’s border to over 100 countries’ dogs (including Egypt) on September 1st so time is of the essence to get her out of the country. She needs work for her fear and trust so won’t appeal to everyone. I’ve done that before with Fox and other rescues so my heart went out (pretty sure @durangoscotsgets that) and focusing on helping someone else is better than focusing on me, I thought. My friends told me I was crazy - too soon. No changes for a year. Now I am second guessing myself. With a very sore toe, I decided to treat myself to a pizza (following in @ger_77‘s footsteps). Burned to a crisp. Sheesh. After that, something good had to happen right? Well, it did. I received an absolutely beautiful scarf from Laura@Horizon chaser 1957with the sweetest, kindest note. She sent it as a token of love from the Daily family - but it is her work and her thoughtfulness. ♥️ I have no idea how she got my address - but she did. I love it and colours I can wear. I do believe it might be travelling with me 🙂 Prayers for everyone on the Care list & for those that need them and a 🥂 to those on the Shout Out / Celebratory list. Have a great Sunday everyone !!!!! Stay safe & please don’t forget your 😷 when / where needed.
  5. Ok tomorrow I will expand. There’s no figuring out Canada Post 😉 😳 it’s exquisite and a colour I can wear. I was truly touched and moved and maybe cried a smidge at the kindness. Thank you ♥️
  6. You are right on the pharmacies. We have a number in our little two towns and only one had it in stock. thankfully I was on file from who knows how many decades ago and the were ready for me. It’s a good thing I let my “fingers do the talking” (phone) rather than go to each one. LOL.
  7. I hope that is the way it is - I’m sitting with a group and they don’t have Club Orange.
  8. I think mine was only tetanus, Ann. Appears to be what the record says. I’m not Jose though - he would know in a nano second by the drug if it was a mix or just tetanus. I know when you receive your 1st tetanus it has the DPT as it’s needed. I’ll look at it more closely later. I wasn’t going to the hospital unless I had to for several reasons besides the wait and the cesspool there 😉 - Too many trips there for 6 months and I don’t need / want to go back for some time.
  9. Thanks for our Saturday Daily, Rich. A quick post as last night and today have been nothing but a mess 😠 On the agenda this morning was finding a pharmacy that had tetanus shots asap so I could avoid the hospital. Done, thankfully. I am starting to think that quote suits me with what some are saying about a decision I thought I had made. 😢. Maybe I’ll tell both stories tomorrow. Laura @Horizon chaser 1957(as I don’t have your email - forgive me for posting here) - I received your very thoughtful package today and want to thank you so very much. I’m not sure if you would want me to say more or not but it is lovely and so appreciated. ♥️ @rafinmdRoy - welcome home. Glad you finally made it. @jimgevgreat report on your cruise. I am so glad you finally made it home with luggage intact. @bennybearprayers for your DH continue 🙏 Prayers for everyone on the Care list, Buddy & Ukraine & for those that need them and a 🥂 to those on the Celebratory / Shout Out list. Have a great day everyone!
  10. She is indeed. I’ve sailed with her a few times. She sent me condolences and told me that she, Tony and Martha had lit candles for Jose back when they did it. So sweet. I am blessed to have sailed with a number of CC friends who truly care ♥️
  11. Awww. The candles were enough to touch my heart ♥️ Thank you for this pic of Jose ♥️
  12. If you can check her in and that’s your only road block - then 1) talk to your TA and then assuming she/‘he agrees 2) check your SIL in. That makes it an easy no show and solves the problem for your mother. I’m still thinking it is better to tell HAL but your TA hopefully knows more than I 😉
  13. Thank you. my TA told me the opposite but my DH has benefits that can be transferred to me. Before you call HAL - I am wondering if you should talk to your TA and see if there is anyway she can check in your SIL. (I am guessing your SIL had her own password and it is unknown) I believe TA’s can do that. Just have the info she needs handy. Worth a try or a chat with your TA before you talk to HAL. I’m glad you have one. Let them do the heavy lifting and just tell them your concern.
  14. oh these are two lovely itineraries each with some fantastic sights! We hope all of our CC friends have a wonderful time exploring in port and on board their BHB’s. Fair winds and smooth seas to them all! Bon Voyage to Nieuw Statendam - 18 day Viking Passage: Vict0riann I like vacation Bon Voyage to Oosterdam - 12 day Adriatic Dream: kapear - have fun with the 2 kids jettaleea - have fun staying on for your 2 B2B’s until Sept. 4th Bon Voyage everyone !!!!!! Have a great cruise and a WONDERFUL time !!!!!!
  15. Oh good to know things are normal at the frozen tundra household 😂
  16. You are one sharp cookie. Yes, @ger_77what happened to the pizza??? 😂
  17. I am so sorry for your loss 😞 Yes your mom needs to be checked in sooner than the 90 minutes. They need to clear everyone. Did you book with a TA, PCC or HAL? If a TA or PCC I would contact them IMMEDIATELY. HAL needs the death certificate and your Mom will save on your SIL’s port fees if you can get this fixed up. I hope you have one or the other but otherwise you have to contact HAL. My husband passed away and HAL is in the process of transferring his OBC to me and removing him from the sailing. There will be no difference to me in cost as a single I will be paying double anyways but I will save on the port fees. That being said I am not at final payment yet. I hope someone with more experience in this can help you. In my mind’s eye they shouldn’t charge any more where they have the cabin fully paid for but I am no expert. 😞 I have been told HAL is pretty good under these circumstances.
  18. YIKES 😱. Hope she is feeling better soon and so glad you found out in time before your visit 👍 that is really good news 👍 Enjoy your visit. You have mail 😉
  19. The book is better than the movie - but that is true for so many movies made from books 😉
  20. St. Peter Port is a tender port but a very quick ride on the little Prinsendam which could get in quite close. Some different pics of the garden already mentioned DH and I joined the locals in this little pub. Very close to the harbour. Taking a page from Roy’s @rafinmdbook with a sunset picture that day from the Prinsendam leaving St. Peter’s Port.
  21. St. Peter Port is loaded with history. On our visit @sailingdutchyTony had arranged a tour where our guide took us to places and role played bringing St. Peter Port’s history to life. DH was about to be whipped. Mail boxes are blue For Canadians and even the British, Sir Isaac Brock was so important in our history. He was born here. Stair in a number of places to get to the next level History
  22. Debbie, I can help you with the meal of the day if you like? Hope you can get the flights straightened out today 🤞 Euros - I watch the rate and dollar cost average them and buy some before my trip so I don’t land there without a euro to my name. I always need an ATM during the trip and they are easy to use. The ship usually has euros and will exchange BUT their rates are not great. They are working on a delay and a best guess for when they can exchange the money they are taking in. Now, that being said - because of ATM fees ($5 for me) if I just need a very small amount of euros - like less than 50 euros - then if the ship is convenient will use it for a nominal amount. Otherwise - I bring with me and use ATM’s.
  23. I think a back up flight is a good idea. I actually did that when I was stuck in Toronto. Booked a flex flight (so fully refundable) and did NOT check in until the fate of my original flight was known. Once I knew it was really going I cancelled the back up. Everything will be refunded. Can’t blame you for being excited 👍 Good plan on the M & G name tags, etc. I always have my invites & name tags in my carry on too 😉 I am sure you will have a great turnout and hope you have a wonderful cruise! I’m just glad you GOT your luggage 😉. Enjoying LIsa’s LIVE from and seeing her pics & pics of you. enjoy Amsterdam and Bon Voyage 🛳
