  1. Mr Tablecloth is my DW 1st Stop. A MUST !
  2. First......Congratulations and Welcome to the World of Cruise. Once you experience your First Sailing, we hope you will catch the Cruising Bug and continue to sail and enjoy. You have selected a general forum here but I suggest you go to the Holland America Forum of CC and you will see lots more of important you will learn. Also a location to ask further information about the company and ships. You are also welcome to join the Roll Call for the sailing of your ship. You will find additional first timers like you and also those that may have experience sailing of the same trip and share additional information on the ship, excursions and activities. Sailing for about 54 years we love cruising above all trip. We still love land based trips but there is nothing like sailing. All is available on board. Dining, Activities, Sport, Entertainment, Suning, and lots more. Those accompanying you with experience will help you along. You are mentioning about dress.... The Holland America Website should have a FAQ section that will mention dress.. Relax, research is the most exciting part of the trip to prepared and look forward to July. BTW.....All ship have a Kid's Corner that your daughter will enjoy while you have your own fun.
  3. We personally book Clubs since we have become accustomed to the location, deck and enjoy the dining feature of the category. We have and been upgraded more from that location with the help most likely with our loyalty background too. But the dining feature is a plus with our past experiences we enjoyed on the QE2 as an example with set dining times thru out voyages. We personally are not passengers who like to dine under ANYTIME and keep changing tables, locations, times and staff. Not how we personally dine at home. Also we don't care to sail on ships with multi plus number dining locations. So the now a days cruisers are definitely different from past times. We also like the restaurant assignment to the cabin category.
  4. On our 2022 NE/CANADA sailing on the QM2, Sept-IIes was on our itinerary after departing Quebec.
  5. Enjoy your voyage. IMHO......all the fun and enjoyment is outside the cabin. Be well informed about the ports visiting and tours/excursions.
  6. We always look forward to a upcoming sailing and will we see a notice within a month or two before surprising us like in the past. I know we always ok if we would like to accept an upgrade and we do. We know our loyalty points and decades of sailing with the same line does help.
  7. They maybe waiting to see if they can be sold. Also they may also offer those cabins to those with loyalty points and status as our cruise line does.
  8. I can't believe that I saw in the past another cruise line raising their 15% to 18%. WOW!
  9. We've always saw it open on Caribbean voyages. And enjoyed it's open air dining.
  10. Ditto! We agree totally with D&N statement.... After sailing so many decades, we are thankful for all the hard work for all those from boarding at the gangway to "Goodbyes" leaving, we appreciate their care and concern for us. We truly appreciate even those not caring but in passing in the hallways the family we have while on board greeting us. We agree appreciation is appreciated by the staff with their dedicated service is recognized. We do at times also recognize that exceptional service with a gratuity at the completion of the sailing. IMHO...it's up to the individual passengers sailings to judge their recognition of service received and what action they believe should be done.
  11. Kings Court or Carinthia Lounge we found once as a dessert
  12. Welcome to Cunard ! You will enjoy the experience of being a Cunarder and on board the QM2. We too enjoyed the Princess Grill and hope to be in it again in 2025. We have been sailing Cunard since the last 80's and continue to look forward to each voyage. Do not be worried about adapting to your sailing, make it as comfortable as you wish. We enjoy each crew member we meet each time and appreciate their care and concern of our needs.
  13. Thank you from one health care provider to another. I like to use the 30 second method in public washing hands the way we were taught. Rotating and fingers into fingers washing. And carrying paper towels to open and handle door handles.. Useless washing if you will grab for the handle afterwards.
  14. Given traffic conditions during the day about 15 minutes. They will take Veterans Drive - Waterfront HWY....
  15. I too on two past voyages had to use bottled water for nasal rinses for medical reasons. IMHO......I had no problems what so ever. I carefully handled the bottles. I kept them in the refrig. When ready to use, took it out and mixed it. Warmed it by running the base of the Neil Med bottle carefully under the warm water in the sink. Or warm water in a glass. Good Sailing.
  16. Idubs Didn't bother us just noticeable. Anyone wants to raise voice for fun, no problem. Suppose to have fun. But strong points can lead to escalation and disturbance. On several sailings ago, WOW disturbance half the Princess Grill away table of 4 sounded like a table of 10. Best to enjoy with a deaf ear and enjoy your company.
  17. We had an experience with the weather and conditions of the ocean on a Caribbean Cruise on the QE2. It latest for about 5-6 hours and interesting to experience how all dealt with it on board.
  18. Agree With You.... When we go cruising or a land based vacation, we enjoy each other's company. But with conversation, we try to keep news from off the ship stand off the ship unless it pertains to the vacation. We like to talk about the entertainment, the shore excursions we anticipate or have gone on and of course the cuisines we try. Yes, there are times when off the ship news comes on, we will monitor it and keep up the latest. But talk a little about it. Self control is so important to keep the atmosphere at the table or other locations. Our may goal is to remember why we all wanted to go together and enjoy talking about it afterwards. We have unfortunately expected those that can interfere on a nearby table and does not even realize how there conversation bother others.
  19. Hi FritzG, Forgot to share another change to the BC Cabins on Deck 13. The balcony doors does not open out (swing), these particular cabins have a sliding door instead. Attached is a photo that will show you the door. You will see it slides on track. Other BC's on 12 still have the original installed swing doors out. We liked the change and wish they changed the other doors on the ship. Hope will help with you DH walking.
