  1. We take the non-prescribed and prescriptions medications that our doctors suggests. Also we found on some sailings it is hard to find a Drug Store to buy items we needed. We had this problems in Quebec where we had from the ship a 45 minutes walk to the New Town to a decent drug store. Nothing was anywhere close to the ship's dock. Not even close to any of the hotels. We learned for the future.
  2. You can stay in the Brooklyn Marriott on Adams Street we refer all to stay. Close to the pier with a short drive along the East River. Also many restaurants long Court St, Smith Street and Montague Street. After you can take a walk along area called DUMBO by the Brooklyn Bridge (even walk across). Also the Famous Promenade look at Lower Manhattan Financial Center and South Street Seaport.
  3. We have a place that has close to 50+ types of bagels.
  4. To hear the difficulties people have getting good quality item went in NYC we have everything at our hands and maybe don't appreciate it. And the creativity is thru the roof.
  5. On the recent QM2 sailing the Poached Eggs were Perfect. They really know their stuff. I have a picture but stored already. Will be time before I can post. But their method was Excellent.
  6. Each person needs to do what will make them comfortable for the entire voyage. Personal choice. Some voyages have the typical times set but like our recent sailing, our times changed due to operational reasons. But there can be security reasons. So we also go with the flow. The tours or excursions are altered to the changes. We never got shorted. We personally for over 40+ years have enjoyed sailing and really look forward when we moved to Cunard. We are not impressed with these Mega Ships. We even for three years before we moved to the QM2 were not impressed with HAL. You need to be open to Gala Evenings to enjoy them as they are applied. Maybe not for everyone but there are a lot of people that really enjoy and look forward to Gala Evening. And also after 6PM attire that set a really nice feeling for the evenings. Even though we sailed the QE2, we did a trail short sailing on the QM2 to see if we would like her and our decision was made. And have sailed her on many longer trips. So to each is own. We know people in their early 70's that still sail Disney and it's amazes us. So good luck on your choices and enjoy what style you pick and like. Bon Voyage..
  7. Hope you enjoy a pleasant sailing. But we will never book again guarantee after a disappointing experience. Regular bookings even get us upgrade experiences. We alway search the internet to find the arrival and departure times for Ports of Call. "Early Morning" gives us an idea around the time. Our selection of cabin cat. is always Grill so we know right off the set times of 8-930 12-130 630-9 which we are accustomed to. When availability to book alt. dining we also use the capability even thru the Cunard Landline to assure a booking. Being Diamond & Grill also assures us of concierge bookings. And this last sailing all our tours were booked online and assured us of a spot that sometimes turn limited or close out by the time we step foot on board. Our tickets are awaiting in the Cabin on arrival. Yes Cunard can do better but we don't let it bother us and look forward to the primary reason and it is to sail on board with all the work behind us.
  8. I am use to the traditional poaching method the French uses
  9. We were recently on board and could not find the speakers assigned to our sailing. But we waited and were pleasantly surprised with the outcoming and enjoyed their presentations. So we really did not mine not finding out till on board and went with the flow. We do not book cruises because of the speakers so not important with us.
  10. I don't think it's proper that test equipment be visible on a vessel where people are out to enjoy themselves. Like not disposing syringes for medical reason to be improperly disposed of. Consideration to your fellow passengers. Also items can not be disposed down the toilets without clogging the system.
  11. In those areas was in the room and not on your person. I got this from other postings here from others that sailed and did. I personally don't like certain things in plain sight. In the past it was posted that Crew did notice in sight items ex. amount of the tissues I didn't even think of that. We at home use a lot so on board we used a lot.
  12. During our recent sailing I will assist you with our experiences..... Our location was Deck 10 Mid Ship Princess Grill..... We actually were sailing from NYC in the hind portion of the Hurr Fiona.... We had Body Lotion, Body Wash, Shampoo, Conditioner, Hand Soap. They also on request gave my DW bar soap that she liked very much. It was not perfumed that I detected. Hand Sanitizing containers all over. Every Restaurant had a Crew Member with a Bottle offering you to Dab on the hand. But in all other Public Areas there were plenty of stand with HS's available. Masks were very noticeable and worn by many and of course also not worn by those. We personally took enough for the 14 days 2x to change each day and extra. The ship will supply you masks but the grade Hospital/Drug Store Grade. They worn KN95 like we took with us.
  13. I know people that did hide their medications in socks and shoes so they were not noticable. Our Stewardess was very nice Camilla accommodated us with our needs with no questions. We also dumped our garbage from self testing in the main hallways trash cans so not to show our personal business of self monitoring.
  14. Having made copies of the menus of the past sailing and looking them over, we really never took three courses each night. We saw what we called the "Flambe Group" which was five tables that loved them made each evening. It was a hot time in the Princess Grill this sailing. I don't think my Good Friend and Cardiologist would not agree. I did see these passengers towards the end of the sailing increase in inches and facial portions. I can't see these passengers doing this at home. I fellow of increase ages had a Flambe dish for two with his DW and then one that was a dessert. And even if he did not have a Dessert Flambe but a dessert. But also added a Cheese Plate. WOW.... Quite a number of days in a row. We had an average either a app (app, salad, soup) and entree. And if we most likely did a dessert. If I did not like the dessert listing I would go for a Cheese Plate. But once or twice I may have had a small app and soup and entree in moderation. Oh BTW...... Losing 15 lbs before the sailing I was so happy to only gain 3 1/2 lbs. I credit the walk from one end to the other due to it's position added.
  15. On Cunard ships, they were watching purchases in the shops and even notified the medical center. Even heard if noted on your dresser medications, supposely medical center was noted.
  16. Around Columbus Weekend In October. This this cruise we were on Sept 23rd to Oct 7, during the later the locals told us that it was late and they were starting to change.
  17. Home a week and having flash backs of the sailing very often. The sailing was very impressive and meaning full this time. Pls take advantage of QC before sailing. We loved hiking up to CF with all those hills and stairs. I think that was the thing that helped me lose weight for a day. WOW hills and steps, and steps and steps. But so beautiful once again as it was 31 years ago.
  18. We have over the decades gone from Britannia to Club and treated to an Upgrade to Princess Grill. After experiencing the recent sailing we have decided to continue to book Princess. We like the cabin location, concerigie and grill dining experience. Also the extra space on the balcony to sit and us sun. The dining experience was also a treat I really enjoyed for the style of meals offered.
  19. A 4 oc package on a bagel once a month with CC is not bad at all. I find it something to look forward for.
  20. I had a great Hollandaise on the QM2 which well stuck on to the egg. I want to make than one at home. But on board I tried the Egg's Benedict, Egg's Florentine and Egg's Royal w Smk Salm. I appreciate the various one offered.
  21. On the recent QM2 sailing to NE/CAN was better than we expected. We were on the heals of Fiona and though having slight seas and some rain it was a pleasant feeling on board. Only once in a while did we had to correct our balances
  22. We are not Commodore Club people and go directly to dinner to enjoy the meals we select. And the walking though challenging did benefit very little weight gain this sailing.
  23. I always carry a small wallet with the card in it. I don't wear a LY. Makes you look like a child in day camp. How many times a day do you really use it?
