  1. I have been to Hubbard Glacier just one time, Radiance of the Seas in 2014 but my photos from there did not turn out. I have one photo of Hubbard and it's from my 2016 Northwest Passage Trip, taken from the deck of the Alaska Ferry Kenicott. We were in proximity because we had a call at the nearby town of Yakutat (pop. 597) and I'll post a few photos from there, starting with the town tourist information center: What was to have been a quick stop was extended because of a technical issue with the ferry so I got a nice view of the town. Here are a few of the buildings and finally an interesting sign: General Store: And Fat Grammas, the only business I saw open and visited: Roy
  2. And fully tucked in. Thanks Leanne, Lou & Dave, and fellow addicts. Roy
  3. Well, I've seen worse rain as well. Probably no noisemakers. Roy
  4. I disembarking Crystal Serenity on October 13. I know they usually use Manhattan Cruise terminal with overflow to Port of Brooklyn if Manhattan cannot accommodate them. On October 13 Queen Mary 2 will be berthed in Brooklyn and there are already 3 ships in Manhattan (Balmoral, Disney Dream, and MSC Explorer. Can Manhattan handle a 4th ship with 2 each pier or will there be a conflict? Roy
  5. With regard to the shuttle it is run by the port, not by the cruise lines. Here's the response to my query from a port official: " Bonjour Roy, You are right about the location of each ship at the Port of Quebec for these dates. There will be a shuttle on Pier 22 parking lot that can bring you to the Pier 30 terminal. Otherwise, there will be taxi and uber drivers available on those dates that can bring you to Pier 30 from Pier 22. I hope I did answer mostly of your questions. Have a nice day ! Superviseur des opérations croisières et événements" Roy
  6. Today's sunrise is from the Panama portion of my 2018 Grand Alaska-Panama trip. On August 15 Crystal Symphony was at sea from Cabo San Lucas to Pureto Chiapas. Roy

  8. That is the place. Scrolling may be a bit tricky on that site: I am having trouble finding October 13. Roy
  9. Thank you Rich, Vanessa, Tina, Dixie, and Ann. The Acandians have quite a history, with some becoming the forerunners of today's Cajuns in New Orleans. I'll gladly celebrate Best Friends and Relaxation.. If I had been on my planned Grand Alaska trip this year I would have been to Hubbard Glacier on the Noordam yesterday. Those on the Mayflower had quite a journey ahead of them. The quote and the meal are both interesting. My alternative is Chilled Carrot and Ginger Soup, Pinnacle Burger, and Sorbet as served in MS Prinsendam's Pinnacle Grill August 4, 2011. Slept later than planned this morning. The weather outside is described as "soupy" with storms so not sure what I will end up doing today. Roy
  10. September 1-3 is Pier 30, not easy walking distance. https://www.portquebec.ca/en/cruises/information-for-cruise-ship-passengers/access-to-docks I have inquired about specifics on the alleged Pier 30 shuttle but have not yet gotten a response. Roy
  11. Only one quick chance for a screen shot before my meeting. Carole I hope your outage is resolved quickly. Thanks Leanne, Lou & Dave, and fellow addicts. Roy
  12. Both ships are past the Tracy Arm cutoff but I have my church finance meeting at 4 and am unlikely to see much of the sailin. Roy
  13. It is National, and it was one of the days mentioned in the Fleet Report and Daily one year ago. I was sad to read that there are only 3 code talkers remaining, sad that the tradition is not continuing. One of our local tv stations has a really local news hour at 9 and one of the features is a regular segment 'Where's ????' hosted by one of the reporters. Today it was the National Cryptologic Museum spotlighting the exhibit on the code talkers. Here's one segment from today's show: https://www.cbsnews.com/baltimore/video/wheres-miana-celebrating-navajo-codetalkers-day-at-the-national-cryptologic-museum/#x Roy
  14. Today's sunrise(or sunset, I know it was August 14 because of the placement on the roll but no time data) is my earliest ever, taken on my one cruise aboard SS Rotterdam V. It was taken August 14, 1997 as we steamed the inland passage from Seward to Vancouver: This was my first ever cruise with Cruise Director Rick Spath. Roy

  16. A qiestion, Keith. With rooms opening mid-afternoon what arrangements, if any, are there for dealing with carryon luggage until the rooms and suites are ready? Roy
  17. Thank you Rich, Vanessa, Sandi (clarification), Tina, Dixie, and Ann for the Monday reports. I will salute financial awareness but pass on both creamsicles and wiffle ball. I've been to Noumea just once. Crystal Serenity in 2018. August 14 has been a great day for both allied servicemen and women in New Zealand. I like the Sacks quote. Turkey burgers sound nice although I' not sure about the Mediterranean. My alternative is Classic Caesar Salad, Prime Rib of Beef au jus, and Baked Alaska which could well have been my final meal on SS Rotterdam 5, 1997 Off soon to the mall to walk. It will be a busy day with both church finance meeting and fire department board this afternoon and evening. Roy
