  1. Watched TV! Next time, bring a book, or better yet a Kindle loaded with books.
  2. Go for the studio. It’s laid out better, is less claustrophobic, has access to the studio lounge and is in a protected area of the ship.
  3. The Haven is quiet and comfortable. An attendant will bring you whatever you like—even setup a breakfast or lunch. The pool is a swim-against-the-current endless lap pool, perhaps the only place in the NCL fleet to get in a real swim.
  4. Who wants 2+ days of cold weather and uninteresting ports when a week out of Florida offers 7 days of warm weather and better ports?
  5. The early dining reservations are a big help.
  6. Free bag of laundry, early reservations for specialty restaurants.
  7. I was on this cruise and got Veuve Cliquot by the glass in both Cagney’s and Le Bistro.
  8. I was on the Gem this past weekend. Ate at Cagney’s (shrimp cocktail and twin double lamb chops), Le Bistro (escargot and duck breast) and Teppanyaki (salad, miso soup and steak and shrimp). I enjoyed all three meals. Note that Le Bistro has a surcharge for all (3) beef choices and Teppanyaki is very loud. Excellent service. No complaints here.
  9. Always has been, except in drenching rain, on my cruises.
  10. Why in one (very expensive) cabin? Two balcony cabins will nicely fill the bill.
  11. Look at it carefully. Are you sure it’s not for the Sept 28 Latitudes cruise on the Bliss?
  12. Enjoyed your review. Helped me relive my great Mediterranean cruise on the Viva in October.
  13. I believe that those reading about the issue on Cruise Critic are also entitled to an FCC.
  14. Took a Mediterranean cruise on the Viva in October. Food was generally quite good. Particularly liked Indulge—a nice new food venue.
  15. Who prints out The NY Times crossword any more? Much better to do it on my iPhone.
  16. Your NCL PCC can cancel an excursion in two minutes.
  17. In the U.S. these days, after taxes and the “hotel facilities charge” are added, a $200/night hotel is close to $300/night.
  18. On an NCL cruise last year, while sitting in our balcony girlfriend asked for $50 to go play bingo. With my usual tact, I told her bingo was a no-skill game for complete idiots. She said she wanted to play anyway. I gave her the $50. Two hours later she came back with 12 crisp $100 bills.
  19. Does it matter? There is no way you (or your taxi or Uber driver) can miss the ship as you approach.
  20. Have not seen a chef’s table on NCL in several years.
  21. Actually, looks like you each get one meal free from your Free at Sea package and then you purchased the two meal upgrade (provided the upgrade appears under “purchased items” in your account).
  22. Based on a 40-year-old movie? Give us something from this century.
