  1. Never done it but that's what it looks like to me, I can't imagine they'd bother with having a different size bag. This is new (to me at least)... It should also be noted that we've probably done 20th total bags, twice they came back with an unpleasant smell, first time I we just dealt with it but the second time the cabin attendant agreed and re-washed at no cost...They wash your clothing with other passengers clothing so if their stuff stinks yours probably will too
  2. For everyone, use this an opportunity to learn from on X or even in everyday life. The OP didn't mention if they did this so perhaps they already did this...TAKE PICS/VIDOES of EVERYTHING, the broken dock, your injury, the overflowing toilet, etc...First, this avoids a potential "he said she said" situation but if in the event X gives you literally nothing, you at least have the threat of posting these pics/videos on social media. We've seen it time and time again, someone accuses a person/business, there's no-minimal resolution to the victim, later a video/pic gets released and all of sudden offending party bends over backwards to get to a resolution
  3. Appears to be 1 bag vs (up to) 3 bags If you click on it, it will say: " Overview Allow our stateroom attendants to attend to your laundry while you enjoy your vacation. Fill up to three bags of laundry during your cruise, leave it in your room, and our attendants will wash, fold, and return your clothing to your stateroom. "
  4. Thanks, you should rate the misses as a “1” on the survey so it gets noticed
  5. It's baffling, both RCI and CCL switched to a larger Maine tail when they introduced the same additional tail fee
  6. Sorry this happened to you, X has been sailing for 3 decades, the process/protocol most likely won't change. If I were you, I would email the exec offices; while I doubt nothing will change in the future and they most likely wouldn't carry a first aid kit for example, perhaps you'll get an OBC for a couple hundred. IMO, that's the least they could do
  7. I give credit where credit is due but have been vocal when they are slighted. Many won't like what I say yet only a small % actually go on Carnival (CCL) sailings. I used to book 75% X and 25% CCL and have now flipped that in short because Carnival is better continuously improving while X is devolving; a deeper dive: COMPLIMENTRY FOOD: -BREAKFAST, CCL has seaday brunch, open all morning, can have steak and eggs or chocolate cake if you wish, not the case on X and X's MDR is only open for 90mins for lunch. -LUNCH, X's MDR lunch is nothing to write home about and is far from "gourmet"; chicken skewers anyone? Is the Spa Cafe's tuna salad gourmet? On CCL, you have the MDR, ChiBang (asian and mex), big chicken (best chicken at sea, blows away X's overcooked and flavorless stuffed chicken breast), Guys BBQ, many including myself consider his BBQ better 95% of food offered at sea -X's Mast Grill, should be an embarrassment, worst food on the ship, CCL's Guys Burgers on the other hand are loved -DINNER, let's start with the lobster, on X you get a Spiny/Warm water tail, on CCL you get a MAINE lobster tail -CCL, like RCI, offers in their restaurants the ability to pay an upcharge and have a good steak and/or Maine lobster tail with tips for $25...On X, good luck making a same day reservation at a specialty restaurant and it will cost with tips $65/person. On X you may be stuck with Turkey Parm or meatloaf for dinner -Dessert, this is another area where X's fails, their desserts are so bland and aren't worth the calories, put a piece of X's chocolate cake and vanilla cake in front of you and you'd be lucky to tell the difference. On Carnival you have the rockstar dessert that X even tries to copy and failed, chocolate melting cake -X's does beat CCL at something, the buffet Despite many social media content creators and even admins on these forums claiming X is no longer considered the "foodie brand" it once was, X while continually devolving their food still parrots they have good food
  8. Haven’t yet been on a X sailing that didn’t have folks hiding/hunting ducks
  9. Thanks! I’d love to hear a balanced list, top 5 hits and top 5 misses
  10. Even in a no-show situation, it’s possible those passengers board on another port. Boarded the Solstice the weekend of the Southwest software meltdown resulting in days of cancelled flights; several passengers simply joined the sailing from another port. My WAG (Wild A$$ Guess) is they’re only filling confirmed cancellations such as when the passengers calls the call center to notify them they won’t be making due to an unexpected emergency or whatever reason. Good or bad, it’s first come first serve as you get added to a list so you should plan on getting there early. We were AQ put on the list, was told if we were awarded a room they would call room phone and leave a VM if we weren’t there I’ve spoken to three passengers who stated they all went from insides to balconies immediately upon asking GS at no charge yet there was availability as these sailing were 40-60% capacity
  11. Valid; we were on the 5th Edge sailing since the restart (last sailing before they mandated Covid testing but had bubble tours) and recall the shows were a bit better
  12. I can validate as I just recently booked 1x MR points for cards like the AMEX Plat but it is coded as travel, many Chase cards give you 3x on travel including Celebrity
  13. It’s unfortunate that many of us X regulars stop going to shows because generally speaking, they’re the same shows fleet-wide. You get one night of a comedian, one night of magician and the rest are musicals…The production shows have some dancing or props and the guest entertainers are concert style. I’ve been on a 12 night sailing last spring where there was no comedian at all, the magician did two nights of shows and the rest were musicals Additionally they have live music all over the ship but they tend to play the music, even rock, in a light and soft style. I do see more and more in the evening in the atrium that they’re using a DJ more often than a live band as was the case recently on the Millie and Solstice. All and all, if you like shows, X doesn’t have the best nor the most
  14. International hotels only require a picture of your passport. For myself, the lesser of all evils is have as few physical copies of sensitive data as possible
  15. Moral of the story, don't sail out of San Pedro (L.A.) if NOT waiting in a luggage tag line is important to you
  16. No self serve on X; even on Carnivals newest ship class they eliminated self-serve laundry
  17. You're brave for taking 5 teens on, if you wouldn't lose any money I'd seriously recommend cancelling and booking carnival, faster internet far cheaper, more to do, far better entertainment along with multiple differing shows per night and I'd argue the food is only slightly better on X as even Admins on this forum have complained about the decrease in food quality on X With the wifi on X, one device at a time...Certain android phones like the Pixel (unfortunately not the iPhone) and a Windows PC can share the wifi signal yet the wifi speed gets split over all devices. Lastly, if one wants to save money, you can wait a few nights before purchasing you'd only pay the prorated amount...For example, if one premium device is $35/night and the sailing is 7 nights that would be $245 all sailing but if you can wait until the day after embarkation, you'd save $35. Same with upgrading from Basic to Premium and/or adding additional devices, you only pay the prorated amount
  18. Do you remember the Captains name and do they have at least one monetized social media account (rhetorical)? Also, airplane "disembarkation" usually takes well under 20mins but on is ship is at least a few hours
  19. It's 3, the prosecution, the defense and the actual un-skewed truth...lol
  20. If you go to Amazon, enter laminator and sort by price, they can be had for under $20 shipped
  21. I used to be on team let the porters do it, yet two fairly cruises on the Solstices in L.A. and a Carnival ship in Long Beach, they're making you wait in line so that one person can validate your name against your room number from a printed list. That could be a very long line unless you board late. They used to let the porters use blank tags they would write your room number on
  22. After that gambler post now I wonder (didn't read all 12 pages) if X is more likely to cancel those who booked with FCC so they can gain as much new revenue as possible
  23. If all that matters is who gave more money to X, it would be gamblers. Why do you think gamblers get those free cruises (rhetorical)? It's because... 1) The house always wins 2) To receive a comped room, you have a gamble a significant amount; those who play penny slots are receiving free cruises 3) Most gamblers lose more than full fare 4) There are some slot players who will spend virtually the entire sea day at the same slot machine hoping to hit the jackpot; personally never understood this 5) Many gamblers when winning freely spend their winnings on the ship...Hit it big, celebrate with a specialty restaurant dinner and buy a handbag
  24. I'm sure that makes it easier for the person who leaves your luggage at the door, I was told (not sure how true it is but makes logical sense) all the porters really do is load them onto the ship then the crew takes over baggage handling
  25. I checked the Millie and Solstice with SpeedSmart several times a day with premium wifi, it seemed to average around 2.0mbps down, almost never broke 4mbps even at 1030pm. Carnival's newest ship the celebration average 55mbps down. With that being said, it FAR BETTER than before as it was unable (pages failed to load) if under .7mbps, anything below 1.0mbps was annoyingly slow
