  1. $1200 may have been the price when the OP called but perhaps it was less at the time of booking. I've seen many times that the GTY isn't much cheaper. What seems to happen is that people think choosing a GTY will work out...and yes at times it might...but then their unhappy about the cabin their assigned and come back to complain about it. Same is true with upgrades. What RCI considers an upgrade may not be what you or I would think. All of this is easy....if you want a certain category/location of cabin...choose it when you book and don't leave it up to RCI.
  2. You've never been told at the consecutive cruiser's meeting that you can access your cabin? Oh my....if staying in the same cabin there's no reason for you not to be able to. So sorry you've missed this convenient perk. Crew "yelling" at a guest ... hmmm !!!
  3. Ours usually seem to know in advance... on the last night we discuss not needing any service. On occasion our steward has changed but they have told us they will tell the ones taking over that we're a B2B and not to disturb us on TAD.
  4. For our ArriveCan submission do we use the Canada Place address and if so what is it? Also I've read on the Celebrity board that when selected for the random covid testing instead of going to an off site location they were giving testing kits recently at YVR...is this correct?? Thanks for replying.
  5. We do the same and the reason we don't change cabins...that's the whole idea. But if we do slip out/in to the cabin we're quick about it.
  6. Interesting...I had no idea random testing was done for arrivals "from" cruise ships....regardless of either flying out or staying post cruise. Are you sure about that ??
  7. No way will we be able to use $900 OBC on our upcoming cruise.
  8. We take our adult kids and grandkids often...at least twice a year. For this reason I always book very early to get us all next to each other usually 3-4 cabins needed. Having the ability to open the balcony dividers is a big plus for us. No...you're right...If booking a GTY and even linking the reservations together RCI could care less. Enjoy your family cruise...doubtful it'll be the last one...there so much fun.
  9. Yes...agree..The only people that can access their cabin and go through those shut doors are B2B cruisers. When we do this we are as quick as we can and don't call attention to ourselves slipping through those doors .
  10. Yes...but why did you opt to let RCI choose your cabin is what I'm asking.
  11. Sorry to change subjects....But how can I cash out OBC given to us by Celebrity for booking a cruise from which the original one was cancelled by Celebrity due to covid.?...I know you can on RCI in the casino.
  12. Disembarking from a cruise ship...No, if you're flying back to the US.
  13. When you booked if the prices were the same why didn't you select your cabin at that time?
  14. Flying into YVR from US for a cruise the same day. If randomly selected to test are you saying they will give us a test kit at YVR...I thought we had to go to an off site location to test ?? I hope you're right about being selected is less probable now as we've been stressing a lot about how the six of us will manage as we have private transportation scheduled to take us from YVR to Canada Place. Hoping you'll reply and thanks for your info.
  15. No problem getting info...RCI has sent me numerous emails and so has my flight with Air Canada. Both are making sure everyone has the correct info when arriving into Canada to board a cruise ship.
  16. It's always best to have even a small amount of local cash with you....regardless. Also remember onboard it will be based on USD so having some small dollar bills with you for some tips...like room service delivery etc. etc. would be helpful.
  17. We (extended family of 6) had a Water Park cabana this past April and it worked out great.
  18. We had a port stop in Mazatlan this past January. Take an open air taxi from the port area just out side the gate...several ex-pats with vests on that will help answer any questions you might have.. Very easy to do. We were dropped off at the central Mercado in town...shopped a bit and got a bite to eat at the Panama Bakery just around the corner (a very popular spot) then took a similar open air taxi (their everywhere just flag one down) back to the port. Couldn't have felt safer just as we have the many times we've done this port stop before. We'll be back again in January 2023 and will certainly do this again.
  19. This is exactly what we did with the extended family this past April. We rented with Budget and it couldn't have been easier.
  20. At least you don't sit in the chairs in the lounge with wet trunks. We've seen this, and then they left their wet towels....hmmm.
  21. Many RCI cruises and I've only seen one concierge several years ago that actually asked people to leave. I don't care what people wear...it's makes no difference to me.
  22. We'll be sailing (this October) on RCI Serenade from San Pedro to Tampa. Which locks will we use and how long does going through the locks take. We just sailed through the locks on our Arctic Circle cruise out of Amsterdam will this be similar?
