  1. Yes, we had the same issue. Wasn’t pleased about that either, but we did get all our choices, so I can’t complain. (I could, but no one would listen.)
  2. I had this issue, recently - two booking numbers, but others that had the cruises combined, were able to book something on that change over day, but not me. I went ahead and did my own thing (worked out great), but it would have been nice to know what was offered in a more timely manner. Being not five days before the first cruise ends. The issue in my opinion is that Regent’s technology can’t handle this, which is rather sad.
  3. We have had that weird dance at the start of the cruise about what is or isn’t in the refrigerator. Writing it down, seems to work very well. For example: please have the ice bucket filled by 5:00 very day. Please remove all the beer and replace with club soda. I should mention that club soda depending on where you are, may have a different name and not taste the same as the stuff in the states. As for the table sharing, many people including myself don’t like to wing it. Last cruise we did that one night and as much as the good doctor was interesting, it was all about him. However, we have shared lots of tables with the trivia team, someone we have spoken to at one of the bars or on a excursion and seem to be on the same page as us and not a blow hard about themselves.
  4. Great questions and way to much confusion, changes and yuk for me. The person that cares the most about my flights is me, hence I book myself and track them accordingly. Works rather, well, but I’m not overly concerned about being in First or business class all the time.
  5. I totally believe there could be a very different experience between two quests with the internet. I’m a night owl and when I was on the Explorer in January/Feb this year, it worked great at midnight, everyone else was sleeping! During the day, it was sketchy or down or slow, etc. Perhaps, Rachel is typing her notes on word and when she is out and about in port she uses the free wi-fi to load up to cruise critic.
  6. Dogs, kids, jeans - some of you really to let go a bit. Just saying. Tolerance is a good word, since you may not know really know.
  7. I’m with you, if the credit is high, I will happily take that and book my own tickets in various classes depending on cost. I’m not spending $10,000 and so-so food for a 15 hour flight. I can suck it up for that time. Luckily, I can usually get the extra leg room for free!
  8. I have no tats and naked is fine, I’m going to go get wet! As usual, love your reports!
  9. We never have taken Regent Air, no change or charge for me.
  10. It may be all inclusive, but it doesn’t mean they totally understand all of your needs, desires, abilities and wants. Do research for each port as if your needed to plan the excursions to ensure that you aren’t missing something you really want to do. Some ports they will nail it and some ports they won’t. You still need to research and plan. Be your own captain!
  11. I’m with you, I dress very nice, but I could care less about the person next to me. It doesn’t effect my meal, actually it could be quite entertaining. It’s not like those folks are coming home with me. I follow just look like you made an effort!
  12. I guess she needed extra room in Her luggage and undies were the chosen items to leave behind.
  13. New York City at one point did have COVID recovery charge at one point. Seattle may have had something similar. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwjpqKPf9Ob9AhXEFVkFHVghB_MQFnoECBIQAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.nyc.gov%2Fassets%2Fdca%2Fdownloads%2Fpdf%2Fbusinesses%2FFAQs-COVID-19-Recovery-Charge-at-Restaurants.pdf&usg=AOvVaw1RN4Ap3uUi4t6mxToYxgrV
  14. Now if they started using the Sisley products, I would be very happy!
  15. I will say, staying in New Zealand in January before we got on our cruise was great and we loved that tipping wasn’t a way of life for you! Back in NYC, yup you need to tip, but not everyone! Restaurants( cafe, high end, casual etc) if you do 20% you are fine. Make sure you do this on the untaxed amount, not the bottom line! I should mention there are some restaurant groups that the tax is included in the price, such as Danny Meyer (Moma, Union Cafe, etc). So beware. If you are wine drinkers and like a great bottle for dinner, if I’m spending $300 dollars on a bottle of wine, I’m not giving the waiter $60 on top of that. I do some math and adjust down. The hotel folks, if you need help with the bags, use it and tip a couple of dollars for each bag. If you have one bag, when you get out of the taxi, if you can manage your stuff, just tell them you got it and they will leave you alone and you drag it yourself. If you aren’t familiar with NYC, these guys can point you in the right direction, so sometimes they are useful. Tipping the maid, lots of people don’t - your choice. Concierge, if they do something very, very special, maybe. Like tickets for a sold out play, not a dinner typical dinner reservations. You will see tip jars in some very strange places, no need to put anything in them unless you want to get rid of the coins or the person really did something special for you. Where are you staying? If you don’t have the Uber app, it can be useful just in case you can’t get a taxi. Where are you flying into? I live in New Jersey and spend lots of time in NYC!
  16. Fair review! Last summer we were on Splendor and would totally agree with your Pacific Rim comments, we had major food and service issues, twice. On the other hand, got off the Explorer last month and ate in there four times and all was great. I will say the woman in charge on the Explorer really seemed especially on top on that dining room. The automatic doors would be nice, I’m guessing if they lose electric you may be stuck? Setti Mari seating is either get there when it opens or pop by no later than 7:30 and put your name in and go have a drink in Prime 7. Normally there will be a few tables that turn over between 7:30 and 8.
  17. At this point anyone on cruise critic and reading this thread, understands the policy. It’s the other folks that are the problem - right! I already spoke about my chair hogs, but I also recorded another guy that had a fit when he returned and his stuff had been moved(not by me). (Happily, no punches were thrown and he stormed off with in a minute). I would just look them straight in the eye and mention that at this point, someone is probably recording your behavior and it may be in your best interest to stop and move on.
  18. Oh, I like to choose where my stuff goes also, but it would be interesting to see if they improve on my skills, so I may just let them go for it! It may give my husband a good story, a good laugh or hopefully some tips!
  19. The wine and champagne lunches can be booked with one of bartenders, sommelier or assistant sommeliers in any restaurant. Do it early in the cruise. If your tastes run high end, you can keep a bottle of that at your favorite bar - just for you. For additional cooking classes or excursions, destinations services, not reception will take care of that.
  20. Let’s make this easy for all, what is your go to? Are we talking gin, bourbon, vodka, wine, after dinner ports? Lots of choices are free.
  21. Hate the popcorn mess, yuk. I bake, this thing is just a sugary fake of glob. The soufflés are very good in compass rose, but everything with a gelatinous component is just gross. Chocolate folks and good chocolate is needed. Chocolate lava cake is missing, I can do this for 12 for Christmas diner, not that hard. Less sugar and add some savory to the desserts. PS. Love the goose liver and caviar.
  22. I didn’t want to tell this story, while I was still on the Explorer, but talk about a chair hog couple. DH, goes to pool around 10, all chairs in the back row are spoken for, no problem he found one in the second row in the shade. I appeared at 11, but the only one I could find was on the other side. See you later. However, there were three double lounges behind him, that stayed empty for the hour he was there. From 11-1 I walked the deck looking for a spot for both of us. I had my eye on one lounger that from 10 - 12:30 never had a butt in it. Finally at 1 with the pool attendant with me, I asked if anyone had seen anyone at these seats and got a very non answer (didn’t want to get involved - I get it). The pool attendant removed their stuff and my husband joined me. At 1:05, the wife stormed pass the lounge speaking loudly about us stealing the chairs and marches to pool grill. We ignored her and didn’t look up. A few minutes later the husband appears and tries to get us into this discussion. We told him that the attendant had removed the items it appears. The best part was after he put his stuff down in front of us while he was still pissed, a double lounge opened up! He moved his stuff to that and than joined his wife for lunch. After lunch, dessert, a romp in the pool at 3:30 they left the pool area. They never sat in those seats either. They just expected and wanted those seats. It was quite the fun lesson in human nature. I will say, after that day, they stopped taking those seats and not sitting in them, so I think they got the idea it wasn’t a great look.
  23. Totally agree with your comments! Disappointing to say the least and it has changed my perspective of cruising. Not just for them, but generally. Not that I won’t cruise again, but it will be shorter trips with more intensive land portions before and after the cruise.
