  1. PDF doesn't do very well with photographs.
  2. Huh? I tried to think of what this might be, but I drew a complete blank!
  3. What I particularly remember seeing from the wall walk in Dubrovnik was two-toned roofs. The faded parts were old tiles; the bright ones had been replaced after being destroyed in the war. (By the way, I have done the wall walk twice; I don't remember paying anywhere near €35 for it, but may memory may be faulty.)
  4. Who is the 'you' mentioned? @Canal archive I have had the same issue with your posts before. It would be very helpful if you quoted the post to which you are referring, so that it is possible to follow your train of thought. Thank you. In case you don't know how, to quote an entire post just hit the quote button at the bottom. The post will show up with a light blue-grey line to the left of it. Just make sure that you are below that line when you put in your comment. To quote only part of a post, highlight it, and you will see a button that says quote selection right where you are highlighting. Hit it, and follow the same instructions for posting below the blue-grey line.
  5. Canadian cards have been chip and pin for years.
  6. I have seen that one with PayPal for a while now. Same advice as credit card; choose the local currency.
  7. But that doesn’t mean they will be comparable to Crystal, so I agree it is better to remove Crystal and wait for further information on Riverside.
  8. I have read (though I haven't confirmed it personally) that banks consider it a foreign transaction even if you choose the currency of the card rather than the local currency. So you might be paying a lousy exchange rate PLUS 2.5%-3%.
  9. Not necessarily. When I was there in 2010 I started with a light windbreaker but by lunch time I was in a 3/4 sleeve top.
  10. It isn't run by London Transport, it is run by the Postal Museum. https://www.postalmuseum.org/visit-us/what-to-expect/mail-rail/#
  11. For the last few years Flåm has a seawalk which is a floating dock. It can only deal with a single ship. I don’t know how they decide who uses it.
  12. This is from the Home Trust website about the Preferred Visa card - the one with no foreign exchange fees. CashBack Rewards All of your eligible purchases earn 1% cash back2 — with NO cap — making your money work harder for you on your everyday spending. Save for an adventure, household project or pay down your balance — it’s up to you! and footnote 2 2Cash advances, balance transfers, interest, fees and foreign transactions (including online purchases in foreign currencies) are not eligible for CashBack Rewards. Since rewards are paid only once a year, I presume that you had some eligible transactions that gave you the reward.
  13. They also encourage people to pay directly by offering discounts for e-transfers, and larger discounts for paying up to a year in advance by e-transfer.
  14. No. See post 17 above. The Canadian one must come first.
  15. Just note that it can’t be used where they don’t take credit cards. I tried to use it at Calforex to get some US cash, and the transaction was rejected. Then I realized that I could use it to get cash and use that to pay for the US dollars. A bit slow on the uptake, but it worked fine in the end.
  16. It used to give 1% cash back on all purchases, but they stopped giving it for purchases in foreign currency a number of years ago.
  17. A roll call is all one topic to allow the roll call to be found. You can either use reply to this topic to start something new, or quote a post to reply to it specifically.
  18. I have a Home Trust Visa which I have used quite a bit in the past. It doesn’t charge foreign exchange fees but provides no benefits. Even if I only travelled to the US, I would never consider a US$ credit card, because I have no source of US income. Paying the bill (for me) would require converting funds at the bank’s rate which includes a foreign exchange fee. (If you spend large amounts in US$ you might be able to get a better rate, but not worth it for me.) I just returned from a US trip, and used my EQ Bank Card. This is a prepaid Mastercard attached to an EQ savings account. All funds you hold on the card earn 2.5% until used, there are no foreign exchange fees, and you get 0.5% back on purchases. (It also acts as a bank card at ATMs, and will refund any bank fees paid in Canada, although not if using a foreign ATM.) It is a bit complicated, but it worked fine for me.
  19. You will go up to the open or covered deck for most sightseeing. There are things to see in spots on both sides of the ship. Remember the ships are small and it is very easy to get anywhere on board.
  20. In the past the Nexus office was on the mezzanine level of terminal one at Pearson, between the arrivals and departures levels. It was fully in Canada, and you met with both Canadian and American agents in the same place, so you could come, have both interviews and leave. I don’t believe the American agents were armed. Now that the Americans are insisting on being armed, and Canada says no, the only way to have the interview with American agents is in the US pre-clearance area, which is considered US soil, and only accessible if you are flying out the same day.
  21. The cruise ship schedule is linked in the post immediately above yours.
  22. It comes regular mail because you have to activate it afterwards. (The same thing is usually done with credit cards too.)
  23. I believe that the CBP agents in the pre-clearance area have always been armed.
