  1. @latebuyer I just got an email from Norwegian offering 35% off all cruises. The only asterix is 20% gratuities apply on: Free Unlimited Open Bar; Free Specialty Dining. Free 3rd & 4th Guests on select cruises. (I don't know how you apply 20% gratuities to free anything, but whatever.) Good for 14 more hours.
  2. There has been discussion on this forum of buying sweaters. Try searching for "sweater" on the Northern European forum. I know there was discussion about stores; I can't remember whether it also covered which port to buy at.
  3. I am Canadian and was able to pre-pay gratuities on Avalon. I’m pretty sure @Daisi was too.
  4. There are now two different versions of the Copenhagen card; one - Copenhagen Card-Discover - includes more attractions and public transportation; the other - Copenhagen Card-Hop - includes fewer attractions all in Copenhagen and HoHo buses. https://copenhagencard.com/view/card-info?lang=EN
  5. The Stockholm pass is for consecutive calendar days. https://www.stockholmpass.net/en/ As an aside, the Copenhagen Card (of which there are now two versions) is by number of hours.
  6. I would assume that the hikes are colour-coded, and that the green was easy, blue intermediate and red more difficult.
  7. Can I presume that you are looking only at the Air Canada flights? Presumably an Aeroplan member. On Google flights I find 3 or 4 non-stops most days from Schiphol to Toronto, generally 2 KLM, and the Air Canada, and Air Transat flies on some days. Through most of August this year (can't really look at next June yet) KLM has a 5:50 pm flight you would have no problems getting to from Rotterdam. (But I understand wanting Star Alliance; I too am a member of Aeroplan.)
  8. I would like to politely point out that your choice of font, while probably readable on a computer becomes a virtually unreadable script font on an iPhone. The default font is much more legible.
  9. Just a quick correction. Nunavut (note spelling) is a territory, not a province. 😀🇨🇦
  10. Glad we could be of help. You will find this a much simpler option. If you let the Lausanne hotel know you will be arriving early, it might be possible to get a room when you arrive. If not, they will store your bags for you while you wander around lovely Lausanne.
  11. MSP is Minneapolis-St Paul I believe. A question for @JosieCat-MN . It sounds like you are doing an extension on your own, not with Viking. If so, there is no reason to fly to Basel (which requires a connection in Europe). You are better off flying to Zurich, and taking a train direct from the airport to Lausanne. Then you don’t need to worry about connection times. You will arrive in Europe and take a single train.
  12. I think that you misunderstood the question. I believe the OP was asking whether it was closer to get to St. Andrews from Glasgow, or from South Queensferry.
  13. @QueSeraSera Love the photos, especially the dawn photo. I'm looking forward to my Norwegian fjords cruise on the Dawn next June.
  14. That's what I did when I got my new passport. I have since used it to fly to the US. (I have also crossed the border by car but that was just with my Nexus card.)
  15. @hallasm How long do you suggest for a minimum connection time in Copenhagen? I'm researching my flight options from Toronto to Oslo for next summer, and one option has a 1hr 40m connection in Copenhagen. Is it doable, and if so, how stressful would it be. I'm hoping to do this business class using points, so I am only looking at Star Alliance flights. (There are lots of other options as well.) Thanks for your help.
  16. For clarity, I think that you mean "change (is given) in Danish Currency".
  17. Not really. It is somewhat better than regular Rouge. It is all relative.

    Barges

I think it varies a lot based on the itinerary you choose. Tripsite rates their bike and boat trips easy, easy-moderate, moderate, moderate-difficult, difficult and very difficult. It isn't necessarily how far the barge goes, as it is how far and over what terrain you are biking. I did the Moselle which is generally pretty easy, biking from 22 miles to 34 miles per day.

    Barges

I haven't used this company, but dealt with tripsite.com. The logistics should be similar. If you aren't interested in biking (at least on most days) on a bike and barge you are mostly out of luck. The bike generally takes you from one place to the next while the barge sails. If you stay on board, you can enjoy the view, but not that much more. The barge has to deal with locks, and sometimes to pick up people part way through the day, but if you stay on board you won't get too much chance to do anything until mid to late afternoon when you dock in the new location. (Because the small crew does everything - sail the boat and look after breakfast and dinner - the barge sails during the day and docks at night.) In terms of the level of luxury, Tripsite grades their barges by level, from standard class through comfort level, premium and deluxe, with prices generally commensurate. (I travelled on a deluxe barge, the Quo Vadis, which was very nice, but not at the Ama or Uniworld level.) They also have some small ship cruises, without biking, although I'm not sure what activities they do.
  20. Canadian citizens travelling with a Canadian Passport do not need an ESTA. https://help.cbp.gov/s/article/Article-1094?language=en_US
  21. I did mine by mail. I didn't need to go anywhere except my local post office to mail it, and again to pick up the new and old passports because I wasn't home when they delivered them. Even over Christmas/New Year's it took less than 3 weeks.
  22. I don't think that I would trust the diagram. I'm sure somewhere that it says for illustrative purposes only. If the hallway is in the centre of the lower deck, and off-centre on the upper decks, then the French balcony cabins are narrower than the standard cabins (and the real balcony cabins are wider but the width includes the balcony).
