  1. Ahhh. And there lies the issue. You booked a guaranteed Interior. In Princess' mind, they assigned you an interior without regard to your request for a queen configuration. There are several cabins across the fleet that have this problem. I once "toured" an accessible balcony cabin that ONLY had twin beds. It was long and narrow with a walkway down the middle. Again, very far forward on a higher deck. Thank you for sharing.
  2. This is an oddity since it is so forward of the ship. Because of the curvature of the bow, this cabin is smaller than the rest of the insides. The first thing Princess "should have done" is NOT make this a quad cabin. None of the insides have bunks that drop down from the ceiling. All inside cabins have the intrusive bunks attached to the walls. It is unfortunate that you were assigned this cabin. It is very important to research as much as possible until you find a cabin location that you will be satisfied with before cruising.
  3. Maybe...just maybe...this event wasn't ready for Prime Time....EITHER. aka sheldon cooper
  4. OFFICIAL UPDATE: Thanks for your reply on Fri. Fri/Sat are my weekend and I’m just getting back into my work week today. The $5 service fee for room service delivery charges (made with a phone call to room service) is waived for any guest with Princess Plus or Princess Premier packages regardless of the cabin category they’re in. This is considered a benefit of having the Plus or Premier package. Nothing to do with the category of cabin. We certainly do appreciate your Elite loyalty to Princess. 5. Since the Diamond doesn't have an International Cafe, you will spend more time on Deck 6 (choose a dining room on this deck). I think it is Santa Fe and Pacific Moon. I love any cabin on Decks 5 and 6 on most Grand Class ships.
  6. Wise decision. Most excursion operators who are responsible will work with cruise passengers. I would never book with an operator that had stringent payment requirements. I hope the ship makes your port in time.
  7. In the back of my mind, I heard/read somewhere that crew appreciation is more like a salary base … now. I don’t think Princess keeps track of how many passengers a steward has per day/per cruise. Maybe by room or just a flat rate. I could be wrong. Won’t be the first time. your thoughtfulness is refreshing.
  8. Eagles are everywhere. In Ketchikan, I saw them on totem poles. In Juneau, I watched them teach their eaglets how to do hit (touch and go landings) the waters from my balcony. Anchorage has a wildlife sanctuary, but don’t think you have time to do that.
  9. For the price of a Princess hotel package, you could reserve a nice hotel, pay for transportation to the hotel, then to the cruise port. Hotel packages charge you for each passenger, but does include transfers. FLL and PE are very close. One of the easiest ports to get to. The problem you may run into is getting a hotel within the cruise area.
  10. Not necessarily bigger, but the windows are nicer on Deck 6. I debated on Deck 5/starboard side or deck 6. I would have been happy with either. Deck 5 has a “secret” door that leads to the library. I thought I would use the library as my living room, but never had time to do that. Deck 6 would have been more convenient. The higher the cabin number, the better. Just be aware that some cabins are designed for 4.
  11. Generally, any refundable OBC (over $25) will be refunded via another company. It will arrive by check…do not throw away without opening. Someone will chime in on name on envelope.
  12. I’ve used EZ Air multiple times. Always less than booking directly for my reservations (not always the case when I have flown without EZ Air). I have run into a few complications because THE AIRLINE made the cancellation. But EZ Air has come through for me. I had to be flexible and invest some time on the phone and at the airport. Look at EZ Air as the same as a guarantee cabin. Patience is the name of the game.
  13. Specific to the Caribbean Princess: The ship is still pretty much the same. I believe the cigar lounge is/will be soon turned into a vending machine arcade. (Secretly wished they had turned it into a non-smoking slot room.) If you are is in full suite, you will have access to a roving concierge. If you are in Reserved Collection mini-suite or Full suite, you may dine in the Reserve Collection part of the MDR on Deck 6. Lots more revenue activities. Lots more noise and activities in the Piazza. Plus @Mud_Shark detailed post.
  14. Glitches? How could that be? They are no longer supporting the old app that took 4 years to perfect. aka Sheldon Cooper
  15. Showing up on my new app (old app has been discontinued).
  16. Are you asking about ocean view? Deck 5 and 6 have nice midship cabins close to everything.
  17. I have never been able to reserve a suite dinner via the app. I gave up. Others have been successful. I just call the fine line when I get on board.
  18. Hotels work slightly differently. If they do not have a room, they will find you accommodations at a sister property. Not always ideal, but you will have a bed.
  19. Guaranteed cabins may be assigned as late as at the port.
  20. Have you received approval from the hotel to check in early? I don't know what a day pass is. Are you able to check in just for the day? I guess you could leave your luggage in storage at the hotel if you arrived early. International Cafe is open early (24/7?) Buffet opens at 6? MDR opens at 6:30?
  21. Me too. But when I was confirmed, another page popped up so you could enter your information. I was also informed that I would be getting a "follow up" of some kind since I applied so far out. Will see what that means.
  22. Arizona Memorial: Very limited to what you can take in with you. Charging for parking now. Don't leave valuables in the car..."opportunists" look for rental cars (they have bar codes on the window). You are missing out on Spam. 7 Eleven has the best (according to officiates. The "Kodak Hula Show" is back at Kapiolani Park. Called something esle now. Free.
  23. Get to the theater 30 minutes early for good seats. Explore the ship from top to bottom (not necessarily on the first day). Bring a refillable water bottle for lemonade (love this stuff). Tea/coffee/milk/lemonade are free in the buffet and MDR. You will be fine without Plus or Premier. FOR ME, it is just a convenience. Each passenger is allowed one bottle of wine. You can purchase 12 (500 mL bottles of water for $7.08. Cheaper than the ones they sell individually. If you bring water onboard...it is suppose to be in cans. Water is very safe to drink on the ship without purchasing water. The aft pool and seating area is wonderful. Try to avoid mid-ship elevators. Be aware that Deck 5 and 6 do not go from bow to stern. Use Deck 7 as your thoroughfare. Or walk out on the Promenade to avoid the crowds, especially after the theater lets out.
  24. I argued the same point with the Food and Beverage assistant officer. Too me, it seemed illogical that Princess would charge you for a suite perk (MDR menu) that could not be ordered any other way (if you did not have Plus or Premier). He confirmed with his boss, the senior officer. Princess fails badly with anything that would be considered an exception to the rule.
  25. I am so thankful that you chimed in! Mahalo Nui Loa for confirming some of my experiences. WHEW. And to be on the Grand...my favorite ship since they got rid of the Golden.
