  1. Thanks for the heads up of having one person turning in the names! DH was so impressed with our Chef's Table dinner ( he had no idea why I had booked this) and was elated that I had done so. I know he would love to participate again. We will be on the Sky in June for a 14 night itinerary.
  2. A full transit Panama Canal cruise is very worthwhile! We did this in January 2018 on the Coral and the onboard historian/ lecturer/author/ commentator was fabulous!
  3. We were on the Grand last September for a lovely Alaska itinerary (12 nights). We had barely pulled a bit away from the dock (not even all of the way out) and then we were backing in. Well, engine issues... the fix involved getting the manufacturer of some part on the phone and coaching the proper crew to get it repaired and/ or possibly seeing if we could get the part(s). We finally pulled out of port about 10:00 pm by which the Captain had to make itinerary decisions which meant missing Icy Strait. However, the Captain was lovely and not only refunded port fees, but also added $150.00 OBC to EACH guest.
  4. Seattle is definitely much more convenient for us. Vancouver was part of the adventure, but that is now out of our system. We wanted that itinerary though, so there's that. We just drive to Seattle the day of, park the car and board the ship.
  5. @fluffybunny22 I was informing the poster @MJC who said it was a Vista Suite.
  6. The Dolphin deck is the second from the bottom with the blue plexiglass panels. D734 would be the balcony second from the left. I think you might enlarge this or find it online under "Images". You can see the beam. Youtube may also have some videos for you. Here is a link which is the same cabin on the Ruby. At about 17 seconds, they will walk you out to the balcony.
  7. @fluffybunny22 D734 is a Premium Balcony and not a Vista Suite. The Dolphin Vista Suites are D736 and D737
  8. No, this was a round trip from Vancouver, BC. It was 14 nights and included Glacier Bay, Icy Strait, Sitka, Prince Rupert. We did not go to Whittier/ Anchorage.
  9. Absolutely! We were booked in C 752 as well for this same transpacific. We love those corner afts on the older ships. It looks like we would have been moved from our favorite cabin. I wish for a speedy repair! We really enjoyed the Grand last September for a 14 day Alaska itinerary. The crew was great and we had a lovely turnout of Officers for our Meet & Greet.
  10. Please enjoy that delicacy for me! My favorite is Mint Chocolate Chip.
  11. I guess the two countries vary on their definitions.
  12. I believe that Bistro Sur La Mer is being replaced with the new "Rudy's Catch" seafood restaurant.
  13. IMHO, this is more of a Northwest Coastal trip with one stop in Alaska. The itinerary really does not seem appealing. It might only be because we live on the coast in WA State and all of these locations are a short drive for us, except of course for Ketchikan.
  14. Thanks! We will be on the lookout.
  15. LOL! That is one of the reasons we are not fond of LHR. We will look for them.
  16. That is what I thought. Where would the E-Gates be at LHR? We do have US Passports. Thanks.
  17. Really? We just called the Dine Line the very first thing after reaching our cabin. We were in a forward balcony cabin on the Caribe deck... nothing that special. I will also mention that there was room for at least two more participants.
  18. Well, some definitions I looked up, said that vegetarians are to not have animal dairy products. @Ladyshopper23 did a nice rundown. Personally, people need to do what they need to do. I also will add the WFPB Vegan, which also are to not eat any oils, refined flour or sugars, or added salt. Yes, this extremely challenging on a cruise ship, but very doable at home.
  19. Please explain what the Global Entry is doing at LHR? I thought Global Entry was on!y in the USA? We received Global Entry last September and will be flying into and out of LHR this June. Any help at LHR would be very welcome. That place is a zoo. Thanks!
  20. Great idea Tony, but ice cream is not vegetarian, unless it is made with a non dairy product. I know... It is a bummer.
  21. We were able to enjoy our first chef's Table last September on the Grand. We were in a private, yet open room in the Crown Grill. We did not receive a tour of the kitchen. However, this was a fantastic experience and are grateful that we signed up upon getting into our cabin on embarkation day. We received a lovely cookbook signed by our hosts and chefs as well as a group photograph. Hubby does not drink alcohol so the fee was a bit less and he was served sparkling water, tea, etc. We hope to participate in more, like on the Sky in June.
  22. Great stuff, right? In my post, I was explaining how people from the Northwest love salmon. I was responding to someone who said they do not like it.
  23. Actually, it could be. When you have a gene that makes you produce cholesterol like a cholesterol factory..... then you become vegan. It can be quite a bummer!
  24. Hi @cr8tiv1 We were on the Coral in 2018 for the full transit. We loved our E736 cabin because of the privacy and closeness to the aft open decks. We were able to touch the walls of the locks during our passage. Then balcony was also cobered. I realize this might not be your thing, but we would book it again. The Universe Lounge below never bothered us.
  25. I have written about my experience working as a server in an Italian restaurant. The owner arranged for us to be "schooled" in wine tasting with "regular Libby type wine glasses" versus drinking wine from a Reidel or Spiegelau wine glass. These do not have a "lip" on them like most wine glasses and the difference is quite astounding! That is why people prefer these. As I have suggested, we are willing to pay a deposit on these with our shipboard account just to really enjoy the wine.
