  1. What you loose in interest on the several thousand dollars is money you are essentially paying for your cruise to Viking. I will only book within 60-90 days of sailing for this exact reason.
  2. I agree in Principal that something is better then nothing to mitigate risk however my concern is that it becomes false sense of well being. People think to use hand sanitizer too often not knowing it only works for 2 maybe 3 times in a row and then it's ineffective.
  3. It;s about service not food in my opinion. If you give them a days notice they will make anything for you if available. I wanted smoked white fish in place of lox with the same trimmings and they accommodated me. This was true in the specialty restaurant breakfast as well as the reserve class restaurant.
  4. I got off the Diamond Princess last month. I did the cruisetour with the land portion first out of Kyoto. The cruisetour was poor for the first two day with a tour guide that spoke very poor English. They replaced her for the start of day 3. The cruise was so so. Japan had very little diversity, see shrines and Budda and beautiful landscaping and a museum. Repeat days 6-14 , different port same sites. I did Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong , Viet Nam , Cambodia and enjoyed that cruise much more.
  5. The chairs harbor germs since they have soft surface areas that can't be cleaned between people and I have never seen the chair arms wiped down either. The menu, salt and pepper and any condiments brought to you have all been touched. If you have a decent immune system this probably won't affect you to get a small amount of germs but if you're immuno compromised it has a better chance of infecting you. I do the best I can and don't worry about it because I want to thoroughly enjoy my cruise.
  6. And if he drops something he picks it up off the floor with his gloved hand or touches his hair, face etc....... Only if they change the gloves are they accomplishing the goal of reducing the transmission of germs. In many cases the gloves are protecting the wearer of the gloves.
  7. Holland is not preventing anything with gloves unless they change their gloves after touching something one time. Gloves are only clean until you touch something and then they transmit germs like ungloved hands.
  8. I sailed just last month and it worked when I emailed in April. I just did it again today so I'll see what happens.

  10. You and I are part of the solution to stop the insanity of tipping everyone. I tip approx 15% in restaurants on the food not the tax. As long as people keep "feeling good" about themselves when they tip it will continue.
  11. Most people don't double tip but wouldn't dream of admitting it on these boards because they don't have flame suites! Please show where you got your mis-information from?
  12. How many times do people want to tip? You already tipped in your package exactly what was dictated to you so why tip more and more?
  13. The plus package duplicates service I don't need like 2 internet packages, and dictates the gratuity amount which I disagree with. RCL and Princess are more alike then different. RCL doesn't require a drink package because their higher tier gets several drinks complimentary. If you like RCL you will like Princess which is more sedate without the disneyland/six flags entertainment. The mini suite category is what I would recommend so that you will enjoy.

  15. Only you can put a value on what you'd be willing to pay for service. With your beverage package you already have done what you feel would enhance your experience. Questions like this are impossible to answer since we don't know your income (budget) which is none of my business, , tolerance for lines or wait for dining room seating, would you do a shared table eliminating any long waits for a table in the dining room? How many people in your cabin? Look at the cabin categories and decide what fits you personally.
  16. I always pick up my medallion at the pier and have never waited more then 5 minutes. Paying postage is not necessary and for me a waste of money.
  17. The British accent person I recently dealt with was in South Africa and no better then the other out sourced agents.
  18. I hope it doesn't turn out like Curtis Stone's restaurant Princess bragged about and nobody liked and closed down on their ships.
  19. Any improvements for our convenience means lower quality for a higher price. Gotta wonder why is something is the best you need to improve it? Figs belong in my fruit bowl Never on a pizza.
  20. You can hand them a Princess gift certificate which they can put on their on board account and use it for anything they want.
  21. Save a water bottle (Buy one and reuse it if you have to) and fill it up during the day with the tea or lemonade and put it in your fridge. If you get the complimentary mini bar use one of those water bottles and refill it.
  22. Since it's a complimentary UBB what have you got to loose? If you don't like it just head to Sabitini's.
  23. I always pick up the medallion at thepier choosing not to have to pay $10 for shipping. My boarding time has never exceeded 5-7 minutes. Much todo about nothing.
  24. Sounds like his adult guardian is slacking not taking of him. It's easier to blame the ship, & the security. That being said I wish for him to found safe and returned to his family regardless of the circumstances.
