  1. First, as to Lagniappe, thank you to SLSD for this word! It is new to my vocab and I love it - very apropos to your topics. And, to the canine on board: people utilizing service animals (in the U.S. per ADA) are not required to provide proof that the animal has been certified, trained, or licensed as a service animal. The service animal is not required to wear an identifying vest or tag. However, we may ask "Is the dog a service animal?" and "What task has the dog been trained to perform?" From personal experience both in and out of the workplace, I've found the "task" question is best for separating the 'therapy' and 'ESA' animals from the legitimate service dogs. Folks with licensed service animals are well aware of the training required by both owner and dog. Dollars to donuts the fluffy, white, table-browsing, toe-sniffing dog on your voyage was not a licensed service animal. The owners should have been required by Seabourn to provide the registration paperwork. It's on Seabourn admin to vet the documentation and if they did not, the subsequent discomfort of Seabourn's guests is also on them.
  2. People, it's denim. Fabric. Not a nuclear device. I find this topic is endlessly fatuous, however, I continue to happily anticipate my first cruise with Seabourn in September.
  3. Go to the Cruise Critics Boards, click on Seabourn. At the top you'll see "Find Your Seabourn Roll Call." You'll click on Pursuit and scroll down to click on "February." If your sailing is not listed (it isn't), use the Start New Topic button and add your cruise in the "February 19, 2024" format. You can also start your roll call from the CC Community pages; scroll down to Roll Calls, locate Seabourn, and start typing ; ) Good Luck with your planning for this voyage!
  4. SLSD: Fabulous photos, I am enjoying them so much and I thank you! Especially the painted bird door. Swoon. FYI: Wahoo is much loved in the Hawaiian islands, and is known as both Wahoo and Ono. Which, interestingly, is the word in the Hawaiian language for "delicious," or "sweet-eating food," or, simply, "yummy!"
  5. Hi, Vineyard View. A large, online agency shows Sojourn departing Singapore on May 2, (perhaps part of a World Cruise, as it's a 34-night sailing). She embarks Ashdod for Athens on May 29, so a 7-night B2B from there might work for your Malta/French Riviera. Teri
  6. Lovely Caravel, DTtravelers, congratulations on your win! Interesting flag on your sails... St. George with a bit of Bolnisi flair to the tips?
  7. Kudos to anyone who still owns a pair of "baggy and saggy comfy jeans" from the 1980s. And, if you're able to pull on and actually fasten those beloved, high-waisted "Mom jeans," I say, Brava!
  8. I love Valletta. We've been fortunate to enjoy Malta during three cruises, and the first involved a shore excursion to Mdina - fascinating! I very much hope you and your mother are able to take advantage of an excursion there. Our visit involved a brief walking tour followed by time on our own, which is when we wandered into the little brocante. There, we unearthed a 3-foot long, cast-iron Maltese toasting fork. (That we were able to fly home with our souvenir in the overhead bin tells you how old this story is...)
  9. Thank you LMB01 and robertmartha for the shuttle reassurances. I'm hopeful we'll be able to visit a museum or two from Juneau and Wrangell during this September cruise. And, we are contemplating the float trip past a glacier rather than the oysters, having slurped what we suspect to be the best of the bivalves from Oregon's central coast, and during an Azamara cruise through the Adriatic. I'm hoping to enjoy a meal of freshly caught Silver Salmon, lovingly prepared onboard by Seabourn's chef : )
  10. We will be first-time Seabourn sailors this September, and wonder if the ship supplies free shuttles into town, (specifically Juneau). Any thoughts on not-to-be-missed excursions are also very welcome. Thanks in advance -
  11. We have just booked our first Seabourn, a 10-day RT to Alaska. Can someone help out with a referral? Our offer of $300 OBC from TA mysteriously disappeared, but we managed to secure a cabin and booking number : ) Thanks for any help -
  12. Espresso and a Mosaic beignet, best way to start the day IMO -
  13. A quick check this morning shows $75 USD = $120 New Zealand. So, a slight advantage to NZ for an early cancellation ; )

I envy you your problem, SuziQ1! Regarding Rome, we once stayed three nights at the San Francesco Hotel, Trastevere, following an Azamara cruise. We were delighted with the room, the breakfasts, and the location. This was a few years ago but I cannot imagine that the price has soared to $1000/night!
  15. Thank you so much for your review and photos, Sleep7! Like GrandmaCruising, I managed to interest my husband in another Med cruise with Azamara simply on the basis of your Shrimp-travaganza pics 😁 However, I do have one question: in your post #138 there are some upholstered chairs lined up on what I believe might be Deck 5. We've sailed on Journey, Quest and Pursuit and I've not seen chairs such as those placed on an outside, albeit covered, deck. Any thoughts? And again, thank you for sharing your cruise via CC! Teri
  16. Thank you for writing this piece. I believe I was able to read all the words - in varying font sizes - but I am left with a question. You state you'll not cruise again with Azamara and you write graphically of your feelings about the size of bathroom and overly-affectionate shower curtain, is this the main reason? Are there particulars you are able to share about why this was a one-and-done experience? Thank you for your time -
  17. My 9 year old grandson prefers sushi over all other "fast food" options. Pink shrimp draped over a nubbin of rice, or California Roll, please, - no cream cheese ; )
  18. Thank you so much for your posts and photos, brazilgirl! I think I hear the siren song of the island of Madeira...
  19. Thank you, KY Deb. While it felt like a real flurry of clicks before I found it, the Azamazing Evening flyer is available with dates and events through Spring, 2024.
  20. Asnaleah, your buffet fresh fruit photo is enticing indeed! It seems like the fresh fruit we have here in Oregon is mostly from South America these cold, winter days. Presumably you are provisioning more directly from the sources, and it all looks wonderful. Bon Appetit!
  21. Sounds amazing! Expensive, but amazing. Thanks for sharing.
  22. King = 150cm Super King = 180cm Decision: Azamara at 172cm It's a very comfortable bed, especially after a day of cruising, touring, eating, drinking, and socializing 😉
  23. Beyond unacceptable. This behavior is appalling. Having worked as a tour guide on Kauai I simply cannot imagine how bad this tour must have been, for the guide to refuse to communicate with his/her employer PLUS actually use that language to the group. Disgusting! A quick calculation for an upcoming tour we've reserved with OBC suggests that Azamara will take in $7,560 for a 40 passenger tour. And we've absolutely no interest in touring with such a large group. Once onboard, I will check the numbers with the excursion desk and will cancel if the tour number exceeds 20. Teri
  24. Times have, indeed, changed. From the 1942 movie, Casablanca: "Here, the fortunate ones through money, or influence, or luck, might obtain exit visas and scurry to Lisbon; and from Lisbon, to the New World."
  25. How wonderful! I hope your daughter is able to add her 'inspection' to others in your family. Keep us posted, please?
