  1. If you turn Platinum on the cruise, you will be able to check-in 16 days out.
  2. Midnight eastern time (Miami/New York time) 14 days out from your cruise. If your cruise departs on the January 27, you can check-in at midnight on the 13th. Diamonds and Platinums can check-in 16 days out. You can choose an arrival time (not a boarding time) and fill out the rest later. It is the last step in the check-in process, but you can skip all the way to the end.
  3. I go into airplane mode as soon as I board because I don’t want to take the chance of anyone at work being able to reach me while I am in vacation. I have missed too many sail away parties because there is usually some emergency just as I am about to take a sip of my first Fun Ship.
  4. I would like to see a tier between platinum and diamond, as well as maybe one after diamond . Also, how about double points for cruising solo or booking a suite. Royal does both of these, which are awesome. I also think that kids under 18 getting grandfathered into their parents tier should change once they hit 18.
  5. You choose an arrival time at check-in, not boarding time. You can choose an arrival time of 10AM, but that doesn’t mean you will board at 10. FTTF boards after weddings, suites, diamonds, and platinums. With FTTF, you cannot check-in 16 days out; that is got Platinum and higher guests. You do get priority guest services line, which can be helpful if you don’t like to wait in line.
  6. Royal/Celebrity pay something to Texas to allow them to start serving right away. Carnival refuses to pay, so Carnival/Princess has to wait until international waters to drink.
  7. I used to get extensively questioned after each cruise and once was pulled aside. I had nothing to hide, so it doesn’t bother me. Customs/police have certain traits they look for. Unfortunately, you may match the description of someone they got a tip about or you unknowingly exhibit some behaviors.
  8. Just a heads up, Carnival Hub app will notify you when something you have scheduled is coming up; the Princess app does not. We missed a few things because of this. It may have been a setting somewhere that we did not know about, but I did have my phone settings set to send me notifications from Princess, app.
  9. Looks like this review may have been your cruise. This person may have the FunTimes or May remember: https://www.cruisecritic.com/memberreviews/memberreview.cfm?EntryID=692431, Not sure how you could contact them, though, but it may be a start.
  10. Recently of Allure. Love & Marriage was in the afternoon on our sailing. For me, too many kids. I wish they would have left it in the evening.
  11. I don’t know if you are getting a WiFi package, but WhatsApp works well for means of communicating.
  12. Not in the past, and I don’t see that changing.
  13. Anyone have a picture of the pail you can get with it?
  14. There is someone that posted on another cruise line about a woman that refused to go to guest services to finalize her bill. She held people up for who knows how long. He’s got it on YouTube; (I hope I don’t get banned, but it was the Carnival Venezia). Anything can happen. So many things are out of our control.
  15. If you are a spa person, they usually offer spa deals on port days. You can sometimes, and I stress sometimes, get really good deals. I haven’t looked at the spa prices post-covid, so I cannot say what the deals may be. Heck, I’m not sure they put flyers in the room anymore since everything is on the app. I guess I didn’t pay much attention last time I cruised.
  16. The only thing you have going for you is that most likely Detroit to New Orleans is a direct flight. Read Saint Greg’s review regarding his return flight from a convert o see what you are up against. Personally, I would never book flights through any cruise line.
  17. Good to hear. Hopefully, you will be able to fight off whatever it is you may have picked up. Safe travels home and thanks for letting me come along!
