  1. Taxis will be available at the cruise terminal - the price for AC Bella Sky will be DKK 365 to 450 depending on the day of the week and time. Please note that gratuity is included in this price. The hotel will be helpful with private transport.
  2. Welcome to Cruise Critic. Hellesylt is a technical stop and many cruise lines only allow guests with the ship's excursions to disembark here. You need to check. I have no experience with Hellesylt, but it is a very small ferry port with 250 residents. It is possible to take a ferry from Hellesylt to Geiranger. There are much greater possibilities for individual excursions in Geiranger. Since there are cruises that stop in Hellesylt and do not sail the last stretch to Geiranger, I would think that there is someone there who can give a better answer regarding options in Hellesylt.
  3. When you have good experiences with Royal Caribbean, I would suggest that you look at what they can offer in Europe - the Norwegian coast or East/West Mediterranean. I have only used Royal Caribbean on my European cruises.
  4. You might get better answers in the the British Isles/Western Europe Forum
  5. There are several cruise terminals in Bergen - depending on which terminal it will take 20 to 30 minutes easy walk to the train station. It's a nice trip by train from Bergen to Flåm (3h30 min each way) and not cheap. If you only have a a day in Bergen, I would not recommend the trip. If, on the other hand, you plan to spend some time in Flåm and see more of the area, I can recommend the trip. Part of Norway in a Nutshell
  6. I was a bit confused as well - You’re correct - Fredensborg Castle is in Fredensborg - Frederiksborg Castle is in Hillerød. Hope we got everything right by now. wery similar names makes it more difficult.🙃
  7. For a Norwegian fjord cruise look for the following port in deep fjords: Geiranger, Flåm, Olden or Skjolden. Coastal cities like: Bergen, Ålesund and Stavanger. Many itineraries does include not that interesting small towns with limited opportunities. Due to regulations on emissions many ships cannot visit Geiranger and Flåm from 2026. Get more details in this forum:
  8. Many, many years since I have tried a ride in Tivoli. You should reserve a table in the evening in Tivoli - might be busy in weekends.
  9. I agree with @janetcbl - the three castles on the same day might be too much - prioritize Rosenborg. Instead, maybe the guard change at Amalienborg and a canal cruise. Just few comments to @janetcbl - No Castle in Roskilde - it’s Roskilde Cathedral in addition to the Viking Museum. The castles are either ‘Fredensborg’ in Hillerød or ‘Kronborg’ in Helsingør. Also Helsingborg is in Sweden - Kronborg castle is in Helsingør, not Helsingborg. Louisiana Museum of Modern Art is a good suggestion. Good choice of hotel close to Tivoli.
  10. In Scandinavia, it is not a common practice to tip tour guides, and it is not expected. Gratuity is already included in the tour price, and tour guides are paid a fair wage. However, if you feel that your tour guide went above and beyond their duties and provided exceptional service, you may choose to tip them as a gesture of appreciation. Ultimately, tipping is a personal choice, and it is up to you whether or not you want to tip your tour guide. Then it will of course be good with local currency, but I am sure that EUR or USD will be accepted.
  11. Tendering is very Cruise Line specific - you might ask the question in the NCL forum. Geiranger is not different from other tender ports.
  12. Or public transport - English is not my first language. Bus 164 is running every 30 minutes - last bus 164 is 0:20am from Orientkaj to Oceankaj.
  13. It's not so bad - the buses run every 20 minutes and the harbor bus every half an hour - but of course you have to know the time of the last bus - the alternative is a taxi. Enjoy Copenhagen.
  14. the cruise terminal does not have a cut off time - there is no public traffic from midnight to 6am but of course there are taxis.
  15. I don't actually know if the free shuttle bus runs here in 2023, but it's actually the same price to take public transport including Oceankaj to Orientkaj and the Metro into the centre. Price is DKK 25 for two zones. It’s the same tickets for bus, metro, train and harbour/ water bus. Tickets for bus/metro can be bought in the kiosks at Orientkaj close to bus stop or in ticket vending machines at stations. Credit card can be used. If you have a phone with a data plan, the DOT ticket App or SMS tickets are also good options. Tickets can also be bought for cash on buses. Copenhagen card can also be used Here are links to bus timetables from Oceankaj to Orientkaj: bus 164 and bus 25.- bus 164 will run until midnight. Look at “mandag - fredag” (Weekday) table. Yes, it is possible to take the harbor/water bus 992 from Refshaleøen to Orientkaj - 14 minutes- here is the 992 schedule and opposite direction (991).
  16. You might rent an electric bike for the first part up to Hole and Vesterås farm. If you search Google the Norwegian spelling Storsæterfossen might help Some inspiration here.
  17. I booked my first cruise in 1996 for air miles. At that time, going on a cruise for a Dane was not very common - very exotic. Caribbean cruise from Miami with ‘Sovereign of the Seas’ - the offer was for an inside cabin on deck 2 but we got an outside cabin. A fantastic cruise which I now after 30+ cruises still remember as one of the best.
  18. Denmark and Sweden are ‘cashless’ - use Credit Card - a chip card with pin is highly recommended - also contactless Credit Cards or ApplePay is widely accepted. For taxi, and public transport App’s might be useful - will require a mobile phone data plan.
  19. Two hours from Cruise Terminal Ostseekai to Hamburg Airport is more realistic - noon is possible but a bit tight.
  20. Yes, You never know the final price before tickets are booked and additional fees paid.
  21. Vueling is a reliable airline - I used them yesterday from Malaga to Copenhagen. The fee you pay for additional checked luggage depends on weight (15, 20, 25, 30 Kg) as well as the distance. You can also pay for additional leg room. Once you have booked your ticket you can always add hand luggage if you need to place it in overhead bin as well as fee for additional checked luggage based on weight in Kg. You can find additional fees here.
  22. Have you checked prices at Norway’s Best for Flåm Railway and Stegastein Viewpoint? Might be better options. Spend your day in Bergen - interesting City - also visit Bryggen Wharf and the fish market. Take the Funicular to the top and walk down to the city.
  23. From Stavanger, Lysefjord is a good option. I would prioritize sights in Bergen over a trip out of the city. Sailing in and out of Flåm is breathtaking - but take the time to be on the upper deck at sunrise (video below). Since Stegastein is the only viewpoint in the deep fjords, it will be my recommendation over Nærøyfjord. It is a long excursion from Ålesund to Geiranger - depends on the time of arrival/departure in Ålesund. This video is ‘your way into Flåm’ from 4:30am
  24. It is a 20-kilometer-long railway that runs between Flåm and the high-altitude station of Myrdal on the Bergen Line. The Flåm railway is considered one of the most scenic train journeys in the world, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape, including waterfalls, steep mountainsides, and the Aurlandsfjord. It is also famous for its engineering, as the railway includes 20 tunnels and several bridges, and has a gradient of 1 in 18, making it one of the steepest railway lines in the world. Tickets for the train must be purchased in advance as the train sells out.
  25. The Flåm railway is my #1. I also believe that three excursions may be too much - whether it should be the Nærøyfjord Cruise or Stegastein Viewpoint depends on what options are available in the other ports of call. On your cruise, you will not navigate Nærøyfjord but Aurlandsfjord, which makes up half of the #2 Nærøyfjord Cruise - be on deck early in the morning and enjoy the fjord sailing. if no other viewpoints possible at the other ports of call I’ll suggest #3 Stegastein Viewpoint.
