  1. Don’t wish your life away. Many think and I was one that retirement was not having to got to work and everything would be the same. Wrong. I was really physically fit. My wife and I did many of the Beach Body program. P90X , Insanity, Focus, and etc. We are in very great shape. BMI of 20. Problem is other issues. All of a sudden our bodies started to fall apart. I have had both hips replaced. My wife had skin cancer. We still try to bike 20 miles per day during the warmer months and other activities during the winter. My back and knees have deterioration. Our hearing is deteriorating. We need to use CC on the TV. Many of our friends have died. DON’T WISH YOUR LIFE AWAY The cruise will come fast enough and will be gone faster. Enjoy ever day as tomorrow may never come. Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅
  2. When you get on board find the bar you are comfortable with and a BT that makes the drinks the way you like it I like the Eden Bar. A lot of different areas to sit at and offers many premium spirits] Some may like the Sport bar by the casino, or the Magic Carpet Bar Not that complicated. What I like you may not. There is no HH on the first night so use that night to find an area you may like. Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅
  3. I would be ok with that. I wouldn’t want to lose the $100 fee because I booked a non refundable fare and they canceled.
  4. This is totally idiotic I have a SS booked for a cruise and I received a email for a move up ( formerly known as and taking the place of a upsell” ) The minimum bids don’t make any sense. I never participate in a move up as I can’t justify spending more than I planned because it is a ‘“bargain”. I can’t justify paying anymore than what I have already committed to and comfortable with. I can afford it but I don’t believe in giving away money that I worked very hard for in very severe conditions. I worked in construction and am now enjoying the fruits of my labor but am also using it wisely. I guess you could say I am a beer, Kielbasa, and chips type, and I do enjoy a lot of bourbon when watching Film Noir especially with Eddie Muller. These are the screen shots for the minimum bid and range. The minimum bid for the Penthouse doesn’t make any sense compared to the rest. I know that the minimum bid doesn’t guarantee that you will get it but it seems upside down. Must be the new bean counter’s philosophy and methods at X that may give a reason for all of the cuts. They probably couldn’t give change for a dollar and don’t know that 1 is less than 2. 🤗 the photo doesn’t show it but the $1100 min is for a penthouse suite. Don’t have enough time to take another screen shot to update Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅
  5. If you book a non refundable deposit cruise with or with out a FCC and the cruise is canceled by the cruise line are you charged the $100 cancellation fee? If the deposit was more than $100 do they give a full refund or is it in future cruise credit? Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅
  6. It may be that they don’t want the disgruntled passengers to be throwing them at the staff because of the cutbacks whenever they mention Laura Hodges Bethge or Lisa Lutoff-Perlo. 😱 Happy cruising 🌊🚢🌅🇺🇸
  7. Don’t think I will be booking anymore cruises until I have completed the 2 that I have at the end of the year. Port Canaveral will cut 1 day off of our driving time but the prices kind of wipe out any savings on one less night in a hotel but is would be nice nothing having to fight the traffic down I 95 going to the other ports I don’t want to purchase a pig in the poke. I need to see how the overall sailing experience is with all of the changes being made. Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅
  8. The problem is they keep changing the policy and T & C. It is like little kids playing a game where they want to change the rules I am not sure but I think if you book a suite with a FCC you still have to pay the full deposit. I have enjoyed suites on a few cruises but the last one wasn’t that great. The menu in Luminae wasn’t that great and the perks were rather redundant as we had a premium drink pack and are also Elite Plus. We didn’t use the the Retreat much or the Retreat Sun Deck. We spent more time on our balcony or at other bars. Depending on our experience on our next cruise we may pass on any future cruises with Celebrity. May look at different lines but I think they are all having their issues. Cruising may be ending for us. There are many other forms of travel there may give more value for our dollars. Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅
  9. It is easy to get confused if you sail enough. I agree with your assessment of the Kelly Ikea furnishings. I don’t like how the suites were ruined with the loft atmosphere or the seating on the Retreat lounges. I don’t think she ever sailed on a cruise ship. Happy cruising 🤷‍♂️🚢🇺🇸🌅
  10. You win even when losing. Put 5 coins in. Push play. Machine says you win 3. I say l lost 2 🤷‍♂️ Technically when you wager that bet is played, gone, and lost. Anything you get back is a win. Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅
  11. The ironic thing is what Sears originally started as put them out of business. They were a catalog mail order business and moved to a brick and mortar store. Amazon destroyed them and many other businesses. What goes around comes around. Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅
  12. You don’t make more by providing less. Many companies went out of business by trying to do that. Kmart use to be one of the best places to shop. You could get almost anything there. They kept cutting their product line and lost their customers. Someone decided that they could make more money by selling Kate Jackson’s clothing line. Didn’t work. There was a chain here called Service Merchandise. It went out of business because it eventually didn’t provide any service or the merchandise. If people don’t find value in something they will move on to find something else. Cruising is a luxury, or novelty and not a necessity. I lived many years before my first cruise. I do enjoy being on a cruise but I can live without it and can always find something else to do. As I write this I am sitting on my deck enjoying the summer having a beer. A lot cheaper than being on a cruise and not restricted by what they have to offer. I know that I can’t take it with me but I don’t believe in throwing away my money for a product that doesn’t deliver what was promised. Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅
  13. I looked on the app for our cruise in Nov on the Silhouette . There is no breakfast menu or lunch for Luminae on any days. I think X is using the butlers that they eliminated to now run their app department 😱🤗 Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅
  14. With all of the negative threads about cutbacks I wonder how the Future Cruise Bookings are doing? In the past I would book 1 or 2 cruises or just open certificate early in the cruise to avoid the the rush at the end of the cruise. People would decide to book another cruise while on board for the extra perks because they had a fantastic experience. This would be the last few days and there were long lines to do that. Reading the negatives threads I doubt if many are booking another cruise while on board. I have 8 more cruises booked. Depending on my experience on our next cruise that is in a Sky Suite I may bite the bullet and cancel the others when final payment is due and lose the $100 because they are all non refundable. A small price to pay compared to the thousands it would cost for a inferior product if the current policy continues I doubt if they will miss me as there are a lot of first time cruisers that don’t know any better and I think that is the market they are after. Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅
  15. Nothing really with the cutbacks. We been in suites and AQ. Mostly sail in AQ as we can’t justify the price difference. people say once in a suite you can’t go back. BS. Our last cruise was in a suite and most times we ordered from the MDR or Blu when in Luminae because the menu didn’t appeal to us. We could do that on the M Class The perks are nice but if you are Elite or above and have a premium drink pack there is too much redundancy. If I book another cruise it would be in AQ. We don’t need the extra cabin space, and dining Luminae. Blu is fine. For the price difference we could get a dining pack if we desired Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅
  16. Here is a list of all of the restaurants and bars on the Equinox. All of the specialty restaurants are included in a RS. Try Sushi on 5 if it is open on embarkation day. If not do it when you can. It is fantastic and you aren’t charged for anything. The Le Petit Chef might be something to consider on your anniversary. It is entertaining and different. There is a restaurant near us that is called the Imaginate and they do the same thing and charge $200 pp. https://www.celebritycruises.com/cruise-ships/celebrity-equinox/eat-and-drink Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅
  17. Being in a RS you get complimentary dining in every venue. I wouldn’t dine any meal in Luminae except when necessary. We were in a RS once and had room service breakfast served every day. It was fantastic. There is a nice size dining table and it was very relaxing not having get “dressed” to go to breakfast and wait to be served. We could watch the tube, use our IPad, sit on the balcony, and etc while having our breakfast or just coffee. Depending on your dining time I would suggest avoiding the Ensemble Lounge. It get very busy between 5 and 7 because of the HH and passengers waiting for their dining room. Go into the Retreat Lounge and they will get the drinks for you. The Retreat Lounge is close to that bar and the restaurant. A lot quieter. That is why it is called the Retreat. Happy cruising (and anniversary). 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅
  18. I was watching a documentary about the creatures of the sea. There is a sea bird that is so light it cannot land or dive into the water as it wouldn’t be able to take off. The bird never lands when at sea and that may be for months. Nature provided for it with the flying fish. The flying fish are “flying” to escape a predator in the water and then unknowingly subjects itself to the birds above. an interesting link about them https://a-z-animals.com/blog/10-incredible-flying-fish-facts/ Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅
  19. Thanks I can’t find the cruise on Celebrity Site. I guess that should be expected. Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅
  20. I will have to look into that cruise. It gives the 2 most important nights in NOLA a docks fairly close to Bourbon St. Those other ports that were eliminated don’t interest me. Whenever we stop there we stay on board. Thanks for posting Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅
  21. Why can’t you drive to Tampa, FT Lauderdale, Miami, NY , Boston? Even those ports on the West coast can be driven to. We have done it. Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅
  22. It is a large chain with many locations in a few states. Food is regular bar food. Nothing special. We went to the one near us in Dearborn Mi one time. It is more of a gimmicky type place. https://fordsgarageusa.com/find-restaurant/ Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅
  23. I don’t think any move up is worth it. When I book a cruise I book what is in my budget and the category that I am comfortable in. The move up would just make me spend more than I wanted because it is a “bargain”, and is it a bargain when i spend more than I wanted? You have to decide if you want to spend more for something that you didn’t want or consider when booking. It doesn’t matter what category anyone is in because we all can sit at the Martini Bar, WCB or most other places on board. Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅
  24. Cabins are priced differently for a reason. That is why the same type of cabin may be than another and they charge more for it. . It is the location even though all inside cabins in the YC I think are are priced the same for that cruise. Warning about the bad cabins and the best work both ways. If the cruise line sees people are booking certain cabins first they start to charge extra as being a premium location. PThose that have a problem will be a little cheaper and be used as a teaser fare or given out for the guarantee rate. To allow bowling after 11 or midnight is insane. Checking on Cruisedecksplan I don’t see a bowling alley bocce that cabin? Thanks for posting the warning. Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅
  25. If you have an aft balcony on deck 11 those balconies are larger and provide a little overhang above. The cabins along the side don’t have any overhang so the balconies are exposed to the elements. I would keep a aft cabin. Not a fan of those along the side. Persian gardens on the M class aren’t as nice as those on the S and E class. We went once and no longer bother when in AQ on the M class. Those Aqua sky suites are a little larger than the other sky suites. They are a few feet deeper. The balconies are also a little larger because of the angle. When we were in them we didn’t have any privacy issue. All of the balconies are very shallow. The SS also have a combo bathtub shower. The ceiling is rather low over the bathtub and it is a high step over to get into. The advantage of the suites are the private embarkation and priority disembarkation, Luminae and the Retreat Lounge. Plus the extra space in the cabin. Lunch is available on all sea days in Luminae and embarkation day. Only you c/m decide it the extra cost is worth it. Even though you place a bid it isn’t a guarantee that you will get it. Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅
