  1. Shrinkflation is nothing new. Gillette did it in 1924. They reduced the amount of blades from 12 to 10 to maintain the same price. https://hbr.org/2010/09/gillettes-strange-history-with Look at a “1/2” gallon of ice cream. It is no longer a 1/2 gallon. A pound of chips is no longer a pound. I am sure that eggs will eventually drop to 10 for a “dozen” Some bars don’t serve a real pint, they use a 14 oz “pint” glass selling it as pint. When you get it after the foam and short fill you are lucky to get 12 oz Can’t cheat with the fill lines on the German mugs. What ever happened to a bakers dozen? Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅
  2. Yes it is. We live in Michigan. Always hear that seafood is cheaper in Fl, BS. The good seafood restaurants here have it flown in fresh. We get great quality and value compared to a lot of areas that are on the coast. There is a place near us called Lilys Seafood Grill and Brewery. It is also a brew pub. They originally were in FL. They were the founders of A1A in St Augustine and also Ragtime. They moved back to Royal Oak Mi and have the best seafood, beer and reasonable prices. https://www.lilysseafood.com The chef told me that they also have their seafood flown in fresh when needed. Basically a lot of it is flash frozen like a lot of seafood that is sold as fresh in the markets. Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅

  4. If you order anything for room service you have to be very specific about what you want. If you order the burger be sure to ask for the condiments you want. I ordered one for lunch when in a suite. It came plain. The burger and the bun. The fries were cold and there wasn’t any ketchup, salt and etc. same with the burger, it came cold. We were confined to our suite for 7 days due to Covid. We got room service for every meal and learned a lot about room service. What you take for granted as being part of the order isn’t. If you don’t ask it isn’t provided. No butter or jam with the toast and etc. After that cruise we no longer want any room service except for some espressos in the morning. We got tired of it and don’t see the fascination. No matter how hard they tried everything came cold or warm at best. Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅
  5. Why did you wait until the last day to print your tags? As others suggested go to a place that will print it out. See if your friend has a friend that has one. Put some duct tape on your luggage with your cabin number, ship, and sailing date in case you don’t trust the porters. It may help🤷‍♂️ Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅
  6. Yesterday we had lunch at a local restaurant that isn’t a greasy spoon. We both had the lobster roll. It is 1/2 lb of lobster and choice of sides. It was $24 and it wasn’t a lunch or any other special. Normal price that is always on the menu Compared to the lobster rolls they have been serving in Luminae lately I think Celebrity would have made at least 20 lobster rolls out of it.   7. I have an about 10 cruises booked on X over the next 2 years and will be trying MSC Yacht Club. It is a short cruise and actually will end 1 day before a cruise on X in the Retreat. We were discussing the same about cancelling the other X cruises if enjoy MSC more. All of our X cruises have a non refundable deposit of $200. I wonder if it is possible to change to refundable and then cancel? Something we will have to look into if we decide to do that. If not $200 isn’t much to lose compared to the price of the cruises Those cruises are a long time away so there is no rush and won’t know until we have sailed on MSC. I have seen many on this board that were X passengers and are finding MSC to be better than the product they are getting on X. Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅
  8. We had the same experience at the Chefs table. A bunch of very rude people. One couple thought they knew everything about how stuff should be prepared and served. Nothing was made properly for them and they let the chef know it . Another couple kept complaining about the slow service and left before the desert was served. Another couple kept telling the officer sitting with us that they didn’t want to hear the subject he was talking about and didn’t want to hear him talk about his life or experiences as they weren’t interested. My wife and I just sat there not saying anything and tried to enjoy our dinner. I read reviews about people having great experiences at those dinners. My wife and I must be the spoilers as both of the so called special premium dinners we attended have been bummers. Two times is enough for us plus if we are the spoilers we don’t want to ruin the dinners for others. Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅
  9. We did the one in St Lucia. The ‘chef” didn’t purchase anything in the market to prepare for dinner that night. It would be impossible to do that as it isn’t inspected according to our “chef”. I think he said he was an assistant bread slicer 😱🤷‍♂️. All he did was take us to the market place and said this is the food shed look around, and then to the junk souvenir shed and said you have 15 minutes to look around and buy something. We then went to the Pink House. It was interesting That night we met for dinner at a lounge and then did a tour of the galley. From there we went to the Tuscan Grill. We were seated at a very large table for 10 or 12, The food was served family style. I ordered some wine and told the server that I had the Premium package. He recommended a wine and I tasted it and said it was fine. I asked if it was covered by the premium package and he said yes it is $10. OK, I will have that. Whenever my glass got around 1/2 full he would top it off. Toward the end of dinner he was going to top it off again. I told him that I had enough and didn’t finish that glass. When I was getting ready to leave he gave me a bar bill for $59.00. 5 glasses of wine at $10 over the premium plus the gratuity. I paid the bill instead of making a scene. The next day I called guest relations and told them the situation. They removed the charge. For us it is one and done. There was nothing outstanding in the dinner that stood out. It was completely different than the menu posted in comment #12 They do give you a copy of the menu and I think we also got a group photo of us sitting around the table. Neither my wife or I could be seen in the photo as others were blocking us out. We filed the menu and photo in the circular file As with many things sometimes the experience is only as good as the people doing it. Get a dud and it will be a dud. We had a dud. Hopefully you will have a better experience. Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅

  11. I was at a counter in a buffet on a ship, I had a bowl of hot soup that I learned to carry for “protection”. Some rude person push me aside and reached in front of me to get at the tray in the buffet. This is where the hot soup served it purpose. The hot soup was “accidentally” dumped on them along with the rest of my food. They didn’t get a sorry from me for the hot soup, instead they got a lot of magical not so friendly words. They knew that they were wrong and at fault. Don’t Tread on Me. I am always polite but not to rude pushy people, now it has also become the entitled. Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸

  13. We use the same card. Give me the money. Points don’t mean much to us anymore because the rules and redemption values may change. We also have a Discover card. The card doesn’t charge a foreign transaction fee. Great to use when traveling outside of the USA. There are some places don’t accept it. Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅

  16. 20165 thanks you for response. I have read that some providers can block hot spots and/or charge extra. I also read that it is illegal in the USA to block it after doing a google about using a device as a hot spot. I doubt that the ship is subject to those rules and may be able to block it Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅

  21. I seen that many times where someone in a large group has booked a a cabin in the suite area. The others in their group are in lower class cabins. The rant starts as soon as they start to board. They feel that everyone can now get the embarkation privileges because the group is sailing with them.

  23. If there is a price alert it would be better to start a new thread about it. To have a on going thread would just get cluttered up and end up not being useful as you would have to get to the last post to get the deal and like the stickies get passed over and missed. I for one always ignore the stickies and look for the first new thread. A new thread would give the alert almost immediately and then eventually go away after the price is gone and not hang around for ever serving no purpose after it ended. Just my opinion and thoughts and I am sure many others may disagree Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅
