  1. You can also lower your expectations and you might be pleasantly surprised when even the most basic things are more than adequately done.
  2. The magic of being able to easily parse things out on the internet.
  3. It will be pretty much what you're used to having on Caribbean cruises.
  4. Entirely depends on your choices. For the example I described, mostly different ports. If you book the 'same' cruise for two different departure dates, likely see a repeat performance.
  5. There is nothing particularly special about back to back (B2B) cruises; it's a term used to describe one cruise itinerary immediately followed by another on the same ship. Some common ones may be a seven day Eastern Caribbean followed by a seven day Western Caribbean. So, just search the Carnival site for a couple you might like to do and if you're a little hesitant to book yourself call Carnival and they'll be happy to help.
  6. How was the 14 days sold? A single cruise or two cruises back to back?
  7. You know, I've gone from YOW to the United States through YYZ with Air Canada at least a dozen times over the last eight months and never had a problem with luggage or CBP. By all means, get some airtags but I doubt you'll need them.
  8. Fair enough. The bags are check3d through AND there ought not be any requirement to see them again u til they reach Boston.
  9. Nope. Once you've gone through CBP pre-clearance in Toronto (YYZ), that's it. When you arrive in Boston, it will be just like a domestic flight.... just head to the luggage carousel, get your bags (if they arrive) and keep moving.
  10. You should not have to do that; luggage should be checked through go your final destination unless you have an unusual mix of flights/carriers.
  11. You ought to be at YQB about 0330. You will clear US CBP (Immigration and Customs) in YYZ. Nothing unusual about what you can carry with you.
  12. That is NOT for Canadian citizens traveling with a Canadian passport. It is for citizens of other VWP countries.
  13. Yes, sorry about that. I was looking at trains from Civi to Roma Termini (not Ostiense). How about the Intercity 501 , which is a direct train... a bit more expensive but at least you can purchase tickets!
  14. I just tried and had no problem. You may have to book 1st class, looks like all 2nd class tix are taken. https://www.trenitalia.com/en.html
  15. We saw plenty here in Ottawa this afternoon.... followed by thunder. We went down to Lebreton Flats before noon to see what was going on; threats of rain, thunderstorms, tornadoes and terrible air quality kept the crowd down a bit this year.
  16. That's definitely an option. I suggest you consider making your way to your hotel near Castel Sant Angelo directly from the cruise port and dropping your luggage there. Sant Angelo is a great location to start exploring Vatican and Rome and you won't have to make your way back to Termini and then to your hotel later in the day just to pick up stored luggage.
  17. The Canadian priced version of the website is working OK. It's a little slow but shows the Simply More booking option.
  18. If you walk off with your luggage that pretty much means you're going to be with 'the crowd' making their way to the Civi railway station. So, I'd suggest you pre-purchase your train tickets and plan on taking something about 1030 or so. Get off the train at S. Pietro and take a taxi to your hotel.... it's too far to walk with kids and luggage and not as 'friendly' a neighbourhood as you may think, especially for an obvious family of tourists.
  19. Just to be clear, the website you've been provided is an official Princess site for Spain and Portugal.
  20. Actually, it doesn't mean that at all. To muster means to bring together or collect people or things.
  21. You can easily book a cruise with Princess online by yourself if you wish. Just follow the prompts in the 'Plan a Cruise' section of the website. I don't believe there is any method to see vacant cabins other than what is presented on the site. You can phone Princess and do it with an agent or, have oneof the 'Princess Specialists' help you out. We always book online by ourselves.
  22. Without knowing the dates and your schedule, I'd say it's tough to estimate overall travel cost. Of course, if you really want to take advantage of being on the west coast and visiting relatives, this may provide a good opportunity to do so. Are you sure Amtrak offers good value (cost, time and schedule) for travel between Vancouver and Portland compared to air?
  23. Saint John, New Brunswicnk; NOT St. John's, Newfoundland. Weather in the cities will likely be in the low to mid 20s (70s for Americans) although it may be warmer. Good chance for some fog in Saint John. Dress for a pleasant summer day. Bring a light jacketand/or sweater for outside while at sea. That may be cooler but you won't freeze or anything like that.
  24. This raises a couple of interesting questions. With you being from the UK, what's your opinion on the right way (direction - CW or CCW) and the correct side to walk/run on (L or R)?
