I am looking for suggestions on where to stay in Singapore for one or two nights. We are boarding the Golden Princess afterwards. I've never been to Asia before.

I have stayed at the Singapore Marriott on Orchard Rd and loved it. Great location with a subway stop right at the door. The hotel is very nice. Singapore was so much more than I thought it would be. Enjoy!

We stayed at the ibis Singapore on Bencoolen prior to our cruise in March. Save some money by joining Accor Hotels first and book a room with breakfast included. It's well located and reasonably priced.

What are some of the things around your hotels? Are there good restaurants close by? What are some places to visit?

There are oodles of restaurants of pretty much any cuisine/price (especially Chinese/Asian) throughout Singapore. Raffles Hotel and shopping complex not too far (10 minute walk) from Ibis. The metro/subway station at Bugis is close by and provides access to most of Singapore. Marina Bay is an interesting spot and easily reached by subway. Shopping is everywhere but Orchard Road between Buyang and Grange is probably the best area for that.

The Ibis on Bebcoolen is well located, but the rooms are very small which is typical of Singapore.

Wherever you are located in Singapore is ok as public transport is very efficient and cheap and user friendly. TAxis are also plentiful and cheap as well.

For our next cruise from Singapore we have booked the Wangz Hotel to give it a try, For a few more dollars than it would cost to stay at the Ibis and with breakfast included, it looks good to us.

I love all the information so far. I'm looking for ideas because we aren't going until 2018. How would you get from the airport to the hotels? Do they have shuttles; what do taxis cost; and best way to get to the cruise terminals?

Taxis are the way to go. Plentiful and inexpensive.

Even better than the more expensive Marriott, we loved the Royal Plaza on Scotts Hotel across the street from the Marriott.

It is a 4.5 star hotel, with all the amenities and spacious rooms for about $175 per night.

Hi
We will most probably be staying at Intercontnental again. It is above Bugis metro so easy to get everywhere.
I second going to Lau Pa Sat will be going there a couple of times. So many good places around for food.
Earlier this year we did not have breakfast included but that was fine as Kaya Toast at Bugis is great and so many other places great to get breakfast. Except when I had Singapore Chilli Crab (at Gluttons Bay cost $30 Singapore). We ate 3 meals a day for 2 of us for $30 Singapore. Great good and Hawkers centres are great.

Taxi from Airport to Hotel and then Taxi from Hotel to cruise port is best.

Not sure yet. Earlier this year before cruise we spent 6 days. Will not be spending as long this time I don't think. Unless can talk Ian into taking the Golden to Singapore from Australia then there is 2 week break from when she arrives there and we leave. So not sure where we will go for that time. Lol. All depends on where Golden goes after Vancouver.

You are lucky your husband doesn't mind being away for so long. I will be happy if I can get Stan to agree to two nights there. That's why I am looking for things that are must see there.

Ok eat at gluttony bay one evening and watch the laser light show. Gardens at the Bay must see co late afternoon to night as the "trees" light up. Or go there after laser light show. Lots of places go to look at the website visit a city and pug in number of days they suggest what to see you can read about each place and if not interested delete them then go to the browse section read about attractions there and add if they interest you the website will put in appropriate place.

I am hopeing Ian will retire for this cruise, he actually could retire next month. So if he decides to work until then and have it as his retirement start I maybe able to talk him into extra time. I will be taking Long Service Leave if I dont leave work before hand.

Public transport is so easy in Singapore. Plenty metered taxis, cheap buses, great MRT underground.
I would recommend looking at booking.com and checking them out. Most 3 star hotels are extremely high standard compared to European hotels. 5 star is basically very luxurious and unfortunately very expensive in Singapore.
Breakfast is not important to be included as there is FOOD everywhere- honestly you will not have to go far to find food if every kind. It's the culture there - eat and shop!
I would recommend a hotel near bus or MRT routes and you don't have to be in Orchard Road ( unless you can afford anything!)

We just spent seven nights at the Pan Pacific in Marina Bay, and loved the hotel. Great multi-lingual staff, wonderful room, and great location with a handy MRT station within a few minutes walk. Would definitely stay there again.

Regarding taxi fares, we spent about S$20.00 for a regular metered taxi (not one of the luxury taxis) from the Pan Pacific to the airport.

We just spent 2 nights at the Singapore Fairmont Hotel in a Club room, and it was fantastic! I hated to leave. The view from the 23rd floor was breathtaking. The room was large, extremely clean and well appointed, and the service was top notch! The location can't be beat. Everything you want or need is within a short walking distance, and the MRT City Hall station is right there. I highly recommend it.
