Didn't have to (in fact couldn't) go out for these, as that fine kookaburra paid a morning visit to my balcony railing. Fortunately I could reach my camera without him seeing me but the first shot was taken through two panes of glass and for the 2nd one I moved to another room and snuck under the net curtain while he was not looking.

He was trying to get rid of that fluff on his beak by rubbing it on the railing a couple of time.

The rebuild steam engine is a project that some of us volunteers at a local museum are working on.

That's one nice steam engine. Must be very old. Reminds me of the old '71 Baja Bronco truck my uncle rebuild. It got new shocks, moto metal wheels, and bigger tires which gives it a great new stance. The mechanism of old machines like that are pretty impressive.

Relatively new to photography with anything more than a phone/point and shoot, but decided to try some shot last night despite the sub-zero wind chill.  Sadly I only have a 135mm lens and the wind gusts were shaking the cheap tripod, so the long exposures didn't work to well (I can't imagine the challenge of doing a long exposure from a ship!).

I would be curious what equipment and settings others use/suggest for this type of photo, as I'm trying to learn more.

Not bad for a starter.

To stop the shaking it is suggested that you hang something weighty on the tripod under the head where the camera is attached

Thanks for the suggestion!  I think I need a better tripod before I add any more weight to it, but I will give that a try once I do.

Not exactly today, but last week I used the heck out of my camera on the Symphony of the Seas. I really, really enjoyed the new camera. No regrets about taking the leap.

Take a look if you're interested.

Enjoyed the pictures, thanks for sharing.  The double rainbow was special!

Are the Pano's done in camera, or in post?

Thanks,

Ken

The sub zero wind chill meant the view was clear. Close to the moon Venus, Jupiter and Saturn were all visible. Went and got the camera. In one photo the dot to the lower left of the moon is Venus. In the second photo you can just make out Jupiter to the upper right of the moon.

Finally got a moment to make a quick flower run. So many places are closed off due to traffic and flower-stomping morons.

Troublemakers in the paddock.

"Aye, fight and you may die. Run and you'll live -- at least a while. And dying in your beds many years from now, would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to that for one chance, just one chance to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they'll never take our freedom" - Bravesheep

Still surprised from time to time at what computational photography can do. Can't wait until it's available in the big cameras!
