No credits for less than 7 day cruise

Recommended Posts

Are you listing RCL? 1/2 credit is plenty for a 3/4 night cruise! They are taking the $99 cruises for the credits only.

I live in Florida and take 3-4 night cruises for several reasons, none that include "for the credits only". Not every Floridian is retired; I take 3-4 night cruises because they require only 2 days of vacation time. I have children and grandchildren "up north" and need longer blocks of vacation time to spend time with them. I have other interests to pursue; our Christmas sailing will be the 16th time we were away from home for at least one night in 2010, and only five were cruises because there are other activities that we enjoy. And, finally, who would pass up the opportunity to enjoy food, lodging and entertainment for three days for $99? When there are no travel expenses to factor in, it is the best value available. Credits are not a consideration for many Floridians lucky enough to live close to ports.

It is rumoured that this will be the case soon

I noticed that you posted this in one of your earlier posts:

"I dont think rci should give a cruise credit for less than 7 day cruises, or on the mileage you do."

So is the "no points for short cruises" something you actually heard or just something you wish would happen? Just curious...

Gas was running about $3 a gallon and my car not economical, and I drove to Florida for about $600 ..

I would pass on a $99 short cruise .. that cost me $600 in transportation costs to get to it.. thats why everyone is saying Floridians have the advantage.. seems like a no brainer to me to think that.

No flames here. I completely agree. It seems inequitable to me that if I take one 7 day cruise I get 1 cruise credit, but if someone takes one 3-day cruise and one 4-day cruise for a total of 7 days, they get 2 cruise credits. Holland America uses the number of days cruised as their tiers for the various levels of their loyalty program, and I think this is a much more balanced approach.

I agree, it should be days cruised, but Im sure the numbers will be higher than someone mentioned earlier, but I see the point. WHAT I dont understand is, why RCI seems to getting more expensive. I figured it was help pay for the Oasis and Allure. Ive been checking out X and thier prices seem comapreable aor even lower in some cases.

Counting three nights on the road. I do believe its further from Dallas than from NY as well.

Its about 24 hours of driving each way according to mapsco. If you can drive 12 hours a day, 2 nights hotel to get on the cruise, and one night to get home for $350, you must stay at some cheap hotels. At you finding $20 motel 6s?

Of course im counting what it actually cost me to get to and from the cruise when I said no to a $99 cruise. Airfare from Dallas does seem to be getting more competitive. My friend flew cheaper from Seattle than I did from Dallas to FTL another time.

I did decide its cheaper to fly than gas and hotels on the road and food along the way. Flew this last time.

I see someone else thinks its cheaper from Dallas .. those were actual costs at the time. Hotels all ran more than budgeted etc. Im thinking it must be further from Dallas.

Darn, I should have taken 3/4 days cruises instread of 11 day ones.

That would be 3 times 99 and 3 credits,

The 11 nights cost me 3 times as much.

No wonder it took me 14 years to become diamond+.

Glad the experts are waking me up to late.....

No, it is Princess that is [or was] listing.

Seriously though, not all short cruises are $99. And do you really think that Florida folks will cease to have an advantage if the rules are changed?

Ha! Sorry about the typo - it's too late to correct the post.

And no I think Florida folks will still have an advantage once short cruises don't count just as much as 7 night cruises do and that is okay. Anyone can move there who wants to! I'd just like to see someone who isn't from Florida win the bottle of champagne for once. While they are reworking things why not make this fair?

Just because they are "advertising" higher prices doesn't mean they will be able to secure enough bookings at the higher rates to fill the ships up.

Just received a promo from an on-line TA offering severely discounted RCL sailings at unbelievably low rates because cabins remain unsold for sailings from now to year end.

Consumer money is tight and everyone is looking to save wherever they can. More people are booking later because they know that is when they will see the biggest price discounts. Who would ever think that there are still cabins available for both Christmas & N. Year sailings at this point in time? Used to be to get a cabin for these holidays you needed to book at a minimum a year in advance.

I would be very very dissapointed if this were to ever happen, but I do not see RCCL doing this to their loyal customers, some people just cannot get the time off or afford a 7+ night cruise, so why should the be punished by not receiving any cruise credits, just not fair, and like I said, I do not see RCCL doing this, and hope it does not happen.

Sure its fair.

Why should you get the same credit for a 3 night cruise compared to someone taking an 11 night cruise. Both get 1

That's what's not fair!

I'd be happy if they went to nights sailed plus two times for Junior Suites and above. That would be 7 nights x 5 cruises + 13 nights (Italy cruise) + 14 nights (twice in suites) = 62 total.

As is, after the January cruise we still won't be diamond (2 suites = 4, 13-night = 2, 3 others = 3 for a total of 9) vs. those that can take 3-4 night cruises w/o flying. I'd imagine we've spent more w/RCCL than someone whose taken 10, 4-night cruises and is diamond.

Although at the end of the day, we cruise b/c its fun! :O)

are cruise credits really that big of a deal? it amazes me how many gripe about such piddly immaterial things like cruise credits and not getting a mint at bed time. it is sad that most of the stuff recently on the boards are all gripes, negative, or sarcastic responses.

here is my two cents based on standard cabins.

3-5 day cruises 1 credit

6-9 day cruises 2 credits

10+ day cruises 3 credits

then suites would be what ever they are now times the number of standard credits depending on the length of your cruise.

Its already one of the most generous programs of any cruiseline. Name one other cruiseline that will give you 3 cruise credits for the same cruise.

I love when people rush to CC to post their latest rumor .. not a word who they heard it from or any source... just they heard ..

I don't deny that it is a very good loyalty program. I am simply expressing an opinion regarding the calculation of credits when one sails for 7 days - 1 credit for a 7 day cruise, 2 credits for b2b 3 + 4 day cruise. Get over yourself!

You would have a problem getting $200 off your your balcony on a 7 night cruise?

How about $300 off your balcony on a 10 night cruise?

That's what diamonds get so sure it's a big deal

I can agree with the above however, people aren't griping about how much of a discount they are getting or not getting. they are whining becuase they take 7-10 day cruises and someone else takes 3-5 day cruise and recieve the same amount a cruise credits. I keep track of my credits and when I get to the next level I get a few more benifits. its as simple as that. Not trying to come across as rude but, I could care less about how many cruise credits everyone else may have or what status everyone else is. It affects my life not one bit so there is no need for me to care.

I also heard a rumor that rumors are going to cease on this website.:D

I wish!

Can anyone explain to me the fascination this topic holds for so many? Then yet again they provide their personal logic to how to fix a completely illogical Crown and Anchor program. Seriously?

RCCL announced they had a phased approach to the changes they were making to the C&A Loyality program back during the summer. There was an article that said they were evaluating the possibility of increasing what is required to reach each tier. Betsy O'Rourke mentioned in an article that if they choose to change the program, existing C&A members would be grandfathered into the new plan under their present tier level.

I haven't heard of any confirmed changes yet or date. But someone above questioned if the change would impact booked cruises - I would say yes if it's implemented before you sail. You would go in at the tier prior to the sailing.

Any TA's on the board have an insight on this?

$99 In my dreams. I'm paying $269/person for an inside cabin, add in costs of port fees and taxes, gratuities, bar tabs, and ship sponsored excursions... well its over $500/person easy. Plus whatever my hubby wants to donate to their casino and any shopping we do on board. They make good money off of us.

I agree with you! The only time I have ever seen $99 was when they had a special about 3 years ago for a $99 3rd or 4th person rate.
