We got off the enchanted end of December. They were closing the cigar lounge after that cruise turning it into a arcade outside smoking is in the aft, one flight above Lido.

Snooker lounge on grand do they still allow smoking? Does anybody know where outside smoking is on the ground?

One deck above the aft lido pool, one of my favorite Princess smoking areas, nice couches. Last time I was on her it was starboard. Time before was port side.

In October and November it was on the Starboard side. Oddly enough it's directly below the kid's club area. We thought it was odd to have the smoke rising up to where the kid's area was.

02062024 Applicable to Ruby Princess

Source: chat agent who checked, verified, and replied

2024-02-06T11:08:35-08:00, 《user》: A question, you may or may not be able to answer: Where are the designated smoking areas on the Ruby Princess?
2024-02-06T11:09:51-08:00, agent: Let me just check the list of the designated areas. One moment, 《user》.
2024-02-06T11:10:44-08:00, 《user》: Thank you. They closed the cigar lounge and made it an arcade.
2024-02-06T11:15:40-08:00, agent: Here is the updated information: For the enjoyment of the public lounges and facilities, indoor areas onboard Ruby Princess are non-smoking. Smoking is only permitted in designated sections of the Casino and Nightclub. Outdoor smoking areas are clearly marked and are located on Promenade Deck 7, Starboardside Aft, on Deck 16 Portside Forward near the Tradewinds Bar, and on Deck 16, Starboardside Aft near the Horizon Terrace. The Casino and Casino Bar are non-smoking areas onboard, with the exception of designated slot machines where guests are permitted to smoke only while playing at those machines. All table games are non-smoking. The Casino will also have one or more non-smoking nights (6 pm to closing), depending on length of voyage.

The agent claims Skywalkers allows smoking?

I didn't interpret any of the areas to include Skywalkers, as it is an enclosed indoor space. 3 designated outdoor areas, as listed.

The Casino is its own little world.

So what nightclub were they referring to if not Skywalkers ?

The agent you spoke with said nightclub. No interpretation required. Very clear. The agent is clueless.

That appears to be dead, done, and gone.  Used to be on the Formal Nights.  We ought to be campaigning for formal night dinners every night!

I think the whole text is outdated.  I am not sure, but are there really THREE outside smoking areas these days?  I don't think so.

Usually just one forward and one aft I think.  When we were on NCL Epic last October in the Med, they established a second smoking area on D15 by the main pool, it was quickly mobbed, and they expanded it at least three times to keep everybody happy.  The coughers/arm wavers had plenty of room to pass by on the other side of the pool.

Nobody told the kids they should make a fuss about people smoking, so they probably don't even notice.

This topic is specifically about Princess’s smoking policies.

I haven’t seen it on any Princess ship that allowed indoor smoking either. I think the agent is reading from an outdated FAQ sheet.

"...coughers/arm wavers". Now, that's funny! Really prevalent on the deck 7 aft starboard smoking knoll, where the joggers and speedwalkers pass through and "tsk...tsk" and guffaw as if smoking shouldn't be happening, in one of the very few sanctioned areas of the ship.

Back in the beginning of time (2004), on the Caribbean Princess, they had standing ashtrays at the elevators, on every floor. It wasn't uncommon to walk past a cabin where smoking was allowed, and it was permeating the hallway. On deck 15, by the pools, smoking was allowed on one side of the deck, with non smoking on the other side. To that degree, things have improved.

Wow, I’m surprised they were allowing smoking in cabins that late! Google tells me they didn’t ban smoking in all cabins and balconies until 2012.

I think most people wonder why the smoking area is located in the path of the jogging track. It seems like an odd choice on Princess’ part.

Not just Princess. Celebrity (except the E class ships) and Royal Caribbean also. Since I'm a very fast walker and walk early in the morning I hardly even notice the smoke or smell.

On the older ships prior to 2000 or so most ships had a jogging track up on the sun deck which meant joggers could avoid the smoke
