I thought the rules were that one could smoke in that section of they were playing a machine???

That's the way it was on the Regal recently.  If you wanted to smoke in the casino it was in a designated area and you had to be gambling.

First ship I've ever been in where smoke from the casino was not polluting the air in surrounding areas.

On the Caribbean Princess last winter, smoke from the casino drifted into Crooners so much that sitting at the bar was like sitting in the smoking section.

😄 Aussies,Kiwi's & Some Asian passengers all joyfully sitting in loungers puffing away.  Then making a mad dash back to the casino 😆. One of the most entertaining sights I viewed was, an 5' woman finished a cigarette in less than five minutes, and hurriedly shuffle off in a blue sequin mermaid dress.

Smoke was coming out of the casino on the Discovery, smell was strong clear down by Crooners. 😖  One of the servers told us they were supposed to keep the doors closed but never saw them closed.

We were on Majestic home ported in Sydney.  No indoor smoking down under.

There’s no indoor smoking on any sailing from Australia or New Zealand. It’s been that way for quite a while.

Just finished 63 days on Grand Princess. No smoking indoors was awesome.

Is anytime that any line is cruising down under,  full stop .

Yes. But do they go non-smoking on the voyage that ends in Australia or not until the first itinerary that sails from Australia? @Thrak mentioned his 63 days which made me think the casino may have been smoke free even on the way to Australia.

To be honest I'm not sure. However, It does seem to me that, during the first part of the cruises, I noticed smoking when I walked through the port side of the casino. There was a bank of machines over there and I "think" I noticed smoke the one time we walked through that side of the casino.

Agree. Smoke on the Discovery was obnoxious this week. They need to upgrade the air filtration system.  We used to live in Nevada,  and most of the casinos were not nearly this bad.

Most cruise lines loathe the idea of banning smoking in their casinos because they fear the loss of revenue. But I understand that Celebrity is 100% smoke free, so I'd be curious to know how much of a hit Celebrity takes, if any, over its sister brand Royal Caribbean?

Don't know or care about the dollars (way above my pay grade) but the casinos are always busy on our Celebrity cruises. Celebrity banned smoking fleetwide in the casinos in 2008. Not sure when they did away with the Cigar Lounge (possibly the same time, 2008) formally known as Michaels. Now known as the Retreat Lounge. A Suite guest lounge. Kudos to Celebrity for not allowing inside smoking.

And it was lovely 😍. Everyone seemed happy,  smokers and non,  living in harmony.

If only that was the policy on all the ships.  Hopefully Princess execs are paying attention.
