temple1 Posted February 19, 2012 #176 Share Posted February 19, 2012 Let me see; which would I find more stressful and upsetting - Sitting in an airplane strapped into a 19" wide seat with limited bathroom facilities no food or water and little info about what is going on for a couple of hours. Fortunately with changes in the passenger bill of rights a better scenario, sitting in the boarding area of the airport in uncomfortable seats over night with only very expensive food and drink available in the case of bad weather. But the horrors - I could be on a cruise ship with unlimited paid for food, drink available, a bed, shower, spa, entertainment, etc for an extended period before my cruise begins. Which should I choose? Which would be an absolutely awful way to begin a vacation. Let me think about this and I will get back to you.
Penguin66 Posted February 19, 2012 #177 Share Posted February 19, 2012 Went up to the port to see the Pride as it was pulling in along side Enchantment. Probably not the best picture, because it is with my cell phone and also I'm not the best at posting things here, but here it is. Could only get it in a thumbnail. Not sure how to do it bigger. Saw that radio said that he would post some pictures later and since he's the expert, I'm sure his will be much better.

CruiseKeeper Posted February 19, 2012 #179 Share Posted February 19, 2012 I'm not surprised. We sailed on her in May and I was very disappointed. We were on deck 3 and there was often a sewage smell. The ship was also not well-maintained and often not up to cleanliness standards that I have come to expect on other lines. We even saw huge cobwebs in light fixtures in the lounge. It became a game for us to spot them. After our experience , we decided to stick with Celebrity even though Baltimore port is much more convenient. We were on in December also on deck 3, and experienced no sewage smell whatsoever. I am not doubting anything quoted above, just want my experience to be noted as well. We were pleased with the maintenance, appearance and cleanliness and are happy to be returning to Enchantment in 74 days. :)

Penguin66 Posted February 19, 2012 #181 Share Posted February 19, 2012 Thanks.... it turned outto be a nice picture. Someday I'll figure this all out. My wife and I went up to watch the Pride sail under the Key Bridge and got a few pictures of it and then went on up and sat across the water and got a few shots as the Pride was pulling in next to the Enchantment. We then actually went over into the parking lot at the port and talked to some of the workers and none seemed to know when Enchantment would be leaving. We could tell they were running the engines, but thought maybe they were just testing. Little did we know that they were preparing to leave. Had we known that, we would have gone back down under the Key Bridge for some pictures of Enchantment leaving.

No smoke smells or haze. The ship was clean and the staff were great. We expect to sail again later this year.

MedicKen Posted February 19, 2012 #186 Share Posted February 19, 2012 Radio, Thank you for your usual objective reports. Also thanks goes to TPKeller for his invaluable input. Meg, Carol thanks go to you as well for your pertinent and unique commentary. I do feel for those on board that have had to miss the Bay at night, to see it in its glory during daylight, and could not go to the casino, but to shows and great dining. I also realize that The Enchantment of the Seas is a machine and machines break. As has been stated, I would be glad if it broke in port rather than on the "high seas" then we could add sea-sickness to the mix. Captian, please take your time to fix the ship properly and do it before May 11, that's when we invade, I MEAN we sail with you. For the rest of your cruise I wish you... dixieva Posted February 19, 2012 #189 Share Posted February 19, 2012 I thought port fees were now included in the fare so they don't have to deal with crediting them when a port is missed? It is included in the fare so you have paid a tax for each port. In the past if we missed a port we were given an OBC as a refund for that ports taxes. megr1125 Posted February 19, 2012 #190 Share Posted February 19, 2012 I just watched Enchantment pull away, and I am happy that she will be heading to some warm weather. . .I will post a few pics when I get home. . . Almost "LIVE" from Enchantment. . . . Radio ;);) . COOL! Can't wait!!! thanks! To clarify the changes to the itinerary we will be a day late to Port Canaveral (Tuesday instead of Monday) and will be skipping Key West. I haven't seen the printed itinerary yet so I don't know if there are additional sea days. I'm just glad that we are finally moving. Enjoy..please keep us posted if you have a chance and don't mind taking a couple minutes out of your vacation!:D Radio and others onboard, Thanks for keeping us updated on your cruise and the facts about one of the ship's propulsion motors. I do hope that everyone will be able to enjoy the cruise despite the adjustments. We will be boarding the Enchantment when you disembark. Has there been any information about when/how the propulsion motor will be repaired/replaced? I have enjoyed several of your "Live from"... postings in the past and appreciate the effort and time that you put into sharing a cruise with those of us "back in port". Enjoy! Sandie Sandie..FYI Radio is not ON the cruise, his friend (and several CCers ARE!) Radio apparently is within driving distance of the pier so he took a morning field trip..... Hmm..should we do an over/under on how many Starbucks he found en route! TO those on the ship: Enjoy your cruise at long last...and please, if you have a minute, drop us a message about how it's going, progress you're making and have a great time......The casino will open SOON!:p

Arizona Cruz Chic Posted February 19, 2012 #192 Share Posted February 19, 2012 I agree with many others who have posted...... I'd trade places with you in a heat beat! I'd rather be on the ship relaxing with a drink, enjoying a nice dinner that I didn't have to cook and being waited on, than sitting here reading all your negative posts! ;) Happy to see that the Enchantment is sailing.....hope everyone calms down and has a great time!! Radio and those who posted live...thank you for informative posts!!! :) ***

In fact the first time I saw this thread with his name attached to it I thought for one second .. wow another "LIVE" thread from Radio. I'll just have to wait for the real deal. Dave4120 Posted February 19, 2012 #198 Share Posted February 19, 2012 In my opinion only, the ship is like being at a stationary resort. So, what is the difference if you're at the hotel resort in one place, or on the ship in port, not moving in one place. So many people complain or argue over every little thing others say. No wonder why the world is so different. That one poster who complained about everything probably hates life in general, and would or will probably complain about everything on the ship thinking the world owes her a favor. I'd b e happy on that ship for 9 nights whether it left port or not because once on the ship, it's like being at a resort and unless you walked off the ship, you'd never have any idea where you are anyway. I think it would have been funny if the Captain just sailed away and went in small circle over and over. I bet most of the complainers would not have any idea they were still in the same spot.
