Anyone been charged for this after the fact?

just curious as I was rather concerned, tho resolved I thought I would make others aware to be cautious....

Recently returned from Oasis. Received bill on morning of departure as usual...no problem, it was all correct.

Checked bank account few days later and was charged an extra $125

I called to enquire.....seems that i was charged for minibar and 2 robes.

Never used the minibar and both robes were left in suite....

As I said, RCCL resolved this for me as the charges were incorrect, but curious as to how this may have occurred...?

Have been on many RCCL cruises, first on Oasis.... Does anyone from h/keeping etc benefit from this? Maybe I didnt tip enough? Just surmising, but found it odd.....

Never charged for robes, but have been erroneously charged for minibar and Coco Cay drinks several times.

Same here, never charged for robes, but have been charged (albeit while still on board) for erroneous mini bar charges. A quick trip to guest services and they were removed immediately, no questions asked.

We do request a printout of our seapass bill on the 2nd last day so I can review all charges while on the ship. On our Enchantment cruise 2 weeks ago we were charged for one extra drink in the Champagne Bar. A visit to the Pursers Desk resolved it.

 

Always a good idea to double check, as mistakes can and do happen.

Glad you got the erroneous post-cruise charge resolved.

We do request a printout of our seapass bill on the 2nd last day so I can review all charges while on the ship. On our Enchantment cruise 2 weeks ago we were charged for one extra drink in the Champagne Bar. A visit to the Pursers Desk resolved it.

 

Always a good idea to double check, as mistakes can and do happen.

Glad you got the erroneous post-cruise charge resolved.

 

Glenn, must have been our ship! We were charged for RT shuttle in Boston, even though we were on an RCI tour. Guest Relations had to email Explorations because they were closed, and then we had the charge taken off the next day. But boy, if you're someone that has a lot of extra charges, it would be easy not to notice--it took me re-thinking about the charges to realize it was wrong!

Helen, that's why I like that on RCI you get receipts for every purchase, even bar bills.

Other cruise lines don't.

I don't mind sitting for a half hour reconciling the bill, if it means I might catch an errant charge or missing credit.

I don't know if our sea-pass bill is large or not by others standards, but it averages 3 or 4 pages long, and $200.00 a day.

Us too! Pool towels...very annoying!:mad:

 

Well, I helped get some back. We were charged $2.50 for a mini-bar charge and I disputed and got it removed, then later my wife told me she did drink a ginger-ale. This was the only time we ever used the minibar. Ooops.

The over charging has never happened to me on the 22 cruises I have sailed on. I'm glad to RC takes care of the problem quickly.

 

I hate the idea of a pool towel charge. I almost get paranoid that someone will "steal" my towel, because they lost theirs.

Was charged for the mini bar which I didn't use. I think it was $10. U just let it go.

 

But that is just what they are hoping for $10 here $10 there it all adds up in the cruise lines favor. Pretty soon it will be more if peopledo not speak up!

Thanks for your reponses.. Yes like some of you I also try to keep the receipts etc and they are usually pretty close maybe a slightly different price on a frequent drink I get from a different location...but usually spot on, so this was odd, but glad to catch it and get it resolved...

RCCL told me they contacted the suite attendant and she stated that the robes were missing....seems odd... They were right there in the room when we vacated it, and we only used the fridge to keep a carton of milk in there...

Oh well, first time it has happened anyway.. :)

Glenn, i forgot I wanted to say thanks for recommending the Eagle Creek travel folders--I bought two on eBay and they worked great! Will be using them again next week for our Oasis trip :D

To avoid the mini bar at least, we have our steward remove all items the afternoon we board. They gladly do that for you. We also have the coffee table removed...soooo in the way.

Robes?? Never charged for that nor for towels.

Wonder if Royal Caribbean has the TV Casino, where you can gamble playing blackjack, ect. against your onboard expenses, i'm sure they must, if Celebrity had it, RCCL has too, same company! HaHa I did good playing TV Blackjack!

We had 2 over charges on our last cruise. This was the first time in 25 cruises.

 

The first over charge was for pressing 2 shirts. We were charged for laundering 2 shirts instead of pressing them. It was a small amount. Guest relations took care of it. The second over charge was for photography. We had picked up a photo on the last evening of the cruise. It was free with one of our diamond coupons. Some how we were charged $78 and change. I went to guest relations. They sent me to photography. I told the photographer that I wanted to see a signed receipt for the charge. They went through all of the previous day's receipts and could only find the one that I signed for the free photo. They credited my account. That was not something that I wanted to do at 7:30 am on debarkation day. Not a pleasant way to end our cruise.

 

I just called my credit card company to check my charges. There weren't any additional RCI charges.

We've had the odd charge and the interesting ones are the crown and anchor vouchers - buy 1 get one free beers but get charged for both - we've always had them removed

 

We just checked our account and although we put everything on our cabin, we got a bill for $11 for our parents room - they never got a printout left the next morning and said they hadn't charged anything - so we though 'that's why there isn't a printout' but we've got $11

 

It will cost us more in time and money to spend the time chasing to refund $11 now mum remembers getting 2 espresso, using the buy one get one so we're guessing they did other things too

If you read her post you will see that everything was OK the morning they left. It was after that got home that they were charged for items that didn't take or use.

Yes, you are right ladycruiser.... My bill was correct on departure...it was a few days later that I was charged for the minibar and 2 robes....

I am off on Monarch next week, so will ask for minibar to be emptied from now on I think.... :rolleyes:

When they are turning the cabins on turn-around day, the doors are frequently left open. Hence, lots of people have access to the cabin. Someone walking down the hall (passenger or crew member recruited to help out) can stroll in and help themselves to a robe or something out of the mini-fridge.

 

For this reason, I ask that mini-fridge be emptied upon embarkation. I personally give the room steward the robes and beach towels (on some lines they are left in the cabin rather than checked out at the pool) just to avoid problems.

 

Nevertheless, we had a charge for a bottle of water added to our statement afterwe left the ship on Carnival's Magic. While DH got transferred around a couple of times when calling Miami to find out what the charge was, it was readily removed when he said we did not use the water.
