Moon Beam Posted December 23, 2012 #1 Share Posted December 23, 2012 I'm curious about the Mystery Dinner Theater. If you've done this, is it fun? Is it worth the extra cost? We are doing a B2B on Brilliance beginning on February 23rd. Thanks for your input.
ticktoneer Posted December 23, 2012 #2 Share Posted December 23, 2012 Yeah it's a nice night. Fun but predictable :-)
oneputt18 Posted December 23, 2012 #3 Share Posted December 23, 2012 We did it on The Navigator and had a good time. The acting is real ham and egg but fun, it's as much a comedy as a murder mystery. We started up in the Viking Crown Lounge with champagne and hors d'oeuvres then off to Portofinos for dinner. The meal was good included appetizers, main course and desert. Plus all the wine was included! So if your a wine drinker it is a really good value. I would do It again but I've heard they are going to discontinue it soon. BND Posted December 23, 2012 #4 Share Posted December 23, 2012 As far as I know they've already discontinued it. I haven't seen it in over 6 months listed on any cruise. We wanted to try it, but haven't seen it available since we were on FR Oct 2011.
Moon Beam Posted December 23, 2012 Author #5 Share Posted December 23, 2012 I'm in the process of booking shore excursions and was looking at dining options. It's something they are still offering on Brilliance in February.
ticktoneer Posted December 23, 2012 #6 Share Posted December 23, 2012 It was on Independence of the Seas on their last 4 cruises :-)
BND Posted December 23, 2012 #7 Share Posted December 23, 2012 Explorer doesn't do it. It must be only on a few ships at this point.
robntawn Posted December 23, 2012 #8 Share Posted December 23, 2012 We have a large group booked for it on Navigator in Feb 2013.
Big Feet Posted December 23, 2012 #9 Share Posted December 23, 2012 thought it was US when we did the first one -- when we did the second one (different ship of course) IT WASN'T.
avazah Posted December 23, 2012 #10 Share Posted December 23, 2012 It was on Independence of the Seas on their last 4 cruises :-) It's also an option on the Jan 7th Indy cruise, according to my cruise docs which urge me to sign up
toxicfairy Posted December 24, 2012 #11 Share Posted December 24, 2012 We ( dh, dd 13, dd 18 and myself) did it a few years ago and we all really enjoyed it ! For us it was worth the money.

P&C4/16/67 Posted December 27, 2012 #13 Share Posted December 27, 2012 Every time I read a thread about this, I wonder why they don't expand this thoughout the fleet (rather than end or curtail it), cause evryone one seems to like it. We would definately sign up for this if offered on one of our cruises. Phyl
dacsmom Posted December 27, 2012 #14 Share Posted December 27, 2012 It was supposed to be discontinued by the end of this year but it was still listed on the Feb 10th FOS sailing so I booked it. It is the same as a land based mystery dinner. Hokey and cheesy, but fun. The only problem is if there are not enough bookings the ship cancels it. Curly locks Posted December 28, 2012 #15 Share Posted December 28, 2012 Explorer doesn't do it. It must be only on a few ships at this point. I've booked it for my Explorer cruise at the end of March 2013. They are doing it on just one evening on our 7 night cruise.
Mapleleafforever Posted December 28, 2012 #16 Share Posted December 28, 2012 We did it once and had a blast!! It's really hokey but after about 10 glasses of wine (WINE IS INCLUDED!!) it's really Tony Award worthy.

Bocker3 Posted December 28, 2012 #19 Share Posted December 28, 2012 I'm in the process of booking shore excursions and was looking at dining options. It's something they are still offering on Brilliance in February. I've already booked it for my partner and I on the 2/23 Brilliance sailing -- so if you book it that week -- we will see you there.
