OTownNick Posted January 18, 2018 #2302 Share Posted January 18, 2018 After 10 years away, returning to Adventure May 2018. Do they still have pool deck barbeques at lunch? No. I have not seen RCI do any outdoor cookouts in a few years. They may have stopped this fleet wide due to public health issues/regulations. cmmarch Posted January 19, 2018 #2303 Share Posted January 19, 2018 After 10 years away, returning to Adventure May 2018. Do they still have pool deck barbeques at lunch? On Adventure over Xmas in December. Great cruise and ship. No BBQ. They did offer a small buffet of burger and dogs at Windjammer entrance one day which was nice when got back from island and jammer was closed until dinner - kids liked it and nice snack. Hotdogs were pretty good I have to say. Straightforward but nice. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
racerxspeedy Posted January 19, 2018 #2304 Share Posted January 19, 2018 We had outside BBQ on Adventure 2 years ago - the only time I have seen it on a RC ship. They had sandwiches on Indy in the Solarium when we were on recently. Adventure is in dry-dock thru Feb 12 when we board next. realtorclm Posted January 22, 2018 #2308 Share Posted January 22, 2018 My husband and I am booked to sail on AOS in September/October to New England/ Canada in one of the new cabins. I booked this cruise specifically for the cabin. I have been on AOS a couple of times before out of San Juan and I can't remember the solarium pool specifically. So I was reviewing pics of the ship, and just realized that there is no roof over the solarium pool. Why would RCCI move a ship with no roof over any pool to that itinerary when it is likely to be chilly in that part of the world? I am sooooo confused.... Explorer (same class) did Canada & New England cruises when she sailed from NJ as well. Clearly, Royal does not feel that a covered solarium pool is a required feature for that itinerary. Other stuff like moving the CL to a Suite Lounge on Deck 14, and moving the DL to the other side of deck 14- lots of little details like that. No concrete info about an Izumi being added, but a Chops was opened a long time ago on deck 4 (where a night club used to be). Library moving, offices moving- most of these for new cabins. It will be interesting to see her in Feb- we are on the first post-wet dock work Feb 12 out of Miami.

remaxlu Posted January 30, 2018 #2314 Share Posted January 30, 2018 Thanks. Another question.....traveling with my 19 year old daughter. In canada she’s allowed to drink alcohol. I’ve heard conflicting answers from RCL about signing an authorization when onboard allowing her to have an occasional glass of wine while at sea. Has anyone had any experience with this on the AOS? It will be interesting to see her in Feb- we are on the first post-wet dock work Feb 12 out of Miami. Here's a bit more info from mattpro (post was made August 2017): Sailed on the Adventure this past April and inquired about changes with the ship's officers. They told me of the updates with the caveat that they could be changed as this has happened before. The Suite Lounge will be on the 14th floor port side utilizing the space formerly used by the card rooms. There will be floor to ceiling windows the same as the Diamond Lounge located on the same floor starboard side. However, the door will be closed to the veranda since the rockwall counter is located there. The Connoisseur Club (cigar lounge deck 5 past the elevators and before the bar lounge area) was removed on the last drydock and will house the card room and library. The Concierge Lounge previously located on deck 9 aft will house interior rooms. The library was on the 7th floor and they will be converted to interior rooms. On the front of the ship on deck 12 is where the panorama cabins will be located with floor to ceiling windows. There will be a sundeck on the 13th floor above these new cabins. The walking/jogging track on the 12th floor will now go behind the Sky Bar on one side and behind the big screen TV on the other side. Izumi's will replace the Sport's Bar on the Promenade (deck 5). When they took the disco out they added interior rooms on deck 3 and put in Chop's on deck 4 across from the Schooner Bar. There will be no Coastal Kitchen on the Adventure. The water slides and 2-tier miniature golf (12th & 13th) were installed on the aft in previous drydock. Also, on the previous drydock they changed the smoking from the starboard side to the port side. Smokers can smoke (cigarettes and cigars) on the pool deck (11) and the open air 12th deck where there are ashtrays, as well as the 4th floor outside between the elevator banks. Smoking with a roof over your head is only available in the casino, which also has a non-smoking area in the rear by the bathroom.

Maverick509 Posted February 1, 2018 #2324 Share Posted February 1, 2018 I really have to ask. WHY is it ok to bring 2 bottles of wine on board but its not ok to bring any other alcohol on board? Logistically I understand but surely they have wine for purchase on board as they do other alcohol. So a person doesn't like wine but would like to have a cocktail on their patio or in their room? But you can bring and have a glass of wine

But you can bring and have a glass of wine - Liquor has a higher alcohol content than wine - Royal was burned once by a lawsuit from the family of a man who went overboard and a bottle of liquor in the stateroom was allegedly involved. - Royal makes the rules for their ships. There are other cruise lines that do allow liquor in the stateroom, so there is choice.
