Elite...no Social hour, just drink vouchers

Recommended Posts

Just received an email telling us there are too many Elites on our cruise and we will be given drink 3 vouchers each day to be used at any bar instead of the Captains Club Social Hour.

How was your experience using the vouchers?

TIA!

We much prefer the vouchers. A lot more choice of venues and a lot easier to mingle with passengers who are not Elite.

We are hoping that Celebrity moves to a voucher system for all cruises.

And, how about saving paper and start issuing time limited drink credits on our accounts. Just an idea.

Interesting observation. How would that work?

Interesting observation. How would that work?

The general idea is that each Elite would have 3 Elite drink credits noted daily on their account.

Bar servers would know the available redemption times per day (example only 5-8) and also the per drink maximum or selection.

When you order a drink during the appropriate times you let the server know it's an Elite credit and the server enters the order in the computer with an elite drink code and swipes your card.

The credits need to be used or expire daily. No roll overs.

Something like that. I'm sure some smart computer people could figure out the details.

Hello,

We never had the voucher system. How does that work? If you only have 2 drinks can you have 4 the next day? In other words, can you use your voucher on any other day?

Thank you

3 vouchers per person, per day

They have a date printed on them, so no, you can't use two on one night and four the next

They are valid for the same drinks that would have been available in Michael's or the Sky Lounge, for the same time period, 5 - 7 p.m.

There are certain bars where the vouchers are not valid, nor can they be used in the restaurants. All of this is spelled out in the Elite instructions you receive on the first day.

No vouchers on embarkation day, and perhaps one other day during the cruise if there is a Captain's Club party that night.

Ummm, not ALL of us have the 123 deal. . .

Hi CathyCruises,

We are sailing on Eclipse this Saturday, and do not have 123 GO. Actually, I'm very pleased Celebrity is offering vouchers on this sailing, as it's been a topic of conversation, and will have a firsthand opportunity to see how the voucher system works.

I will be happy to post some updates during the Cruise. Stay Tuned !

There was numberof Elites selling their coupons on our cruise at discounted rates. Seems many don't drink and it became a profit center of sorts I guess.

It was always very orginised and for the first few days set prices ment short lines of non Elites buying the coupons.

But as it was a 14 day cruise things started to get more competitive.

On the second week Elites started setting up tables not only sell their coupons, but also the other freebies they get. Like laundry and internet coupons, free bingo cards, casino match plays, and the nice tote bags they give out with the free walking shoes. The shoes sold very well.

By the end of the cruise Celebrity went digital and allowed sellers and buyer to meet on the in cabin room service system.

If I ever get coupons again on an April 1st cruise I will also tyake part in the free market system. :p

Love the April Fools Humor :D

Thanks! We are on the 4/14 Silhouette TA--if last year's TA is any indication, we will have a TON of Elites on that cruise, so I am hoping for the vouchers. Since we have late seating, getting dressed up to go to the Sky Lounge from 5-7 doesn't work all that well, but if we can go to the Sunset Bar, for instance, that would be great. I am also wondering, if you can find out, if I showed up at one of the acceptable bars at 6:55, could I use two vouchers and get two drinks that I could then nurse till closer to dinner time? A burning question!!!;)

That process would also minimize people trying to sell or give the coupons away. I think it's pretty lame that people would abuse the generous system they are providing for us.

What time can you use the vouchers?

The elite social hour time ends about an hour too early for us, so we didn't use the benefit at all on our cruise last week. (On RC we enjoy the Diamond event every night from about 7:45 to 8:30). Perhaps they don't want to dedicate a lounge and staff any later than 7 but with the vouchers Celebrity would be able to give us benefits until 8:30 without these concerns. I know this would make us so happy.

Yes, no reason why you couldn't do that. Every time we went to the bar it was always with 2 vouchers - one drink for each of us so how would the bartender know you were not getting a drink for a partner or friend.

We had the voucher system on Eclipse at the end of Feb and it was wonderful as far as we're concerned and we really hope they introduce it across the fleet.

For those who only want to sit with other Elites and get served drinks between 5 and 7 they still had the Sky lounge open, with a 'private function' sign outside so you can still get that experience if that is what you like. Really it was a win win situation :D

My letter said:

Dear :

We look forward to welcoming you on Celebrity Eclipse® on her Caribbean voyage. We want to let you know that, due to the extraordinary popularity of this sailing with our Elite members, during the Captain's Club Lounge social hour we'll be offering you the choice to enjoy your evening cocktails at various bars and lounges throughout the ship. This will allow us to continue to provide you with the highest quality service while allowing you the opportunity to experience each venue's unique ambiance.

On your upcoming Caribbean cruise, you'll receive three (3) Elite Beverage Vouchers for each evening. The days and hours of your Captain's Club Lounge remain the same, so you'll be sure to find fellow Elites out enjoying their social hour in the various venues. And, your menu choices for your Elite social hour remain the same, as well.

In the past, when we've had more Elite members than can comfortably occupy Michael's Club, we've moved the Captain's Club Lounge to the Sky Lounge. On rare occasions when even the Sky Lounge cannot accommodate all our Elite Members, we've implemented the voucher system for our members to enjoy the Captain's Club Lounge in various venues. In order to continue to provide you with the highest level of service, we would appreciate your feedback at CaptainsClub@celebrity.com.

We look forward to making your cruise an enjoyable one and hope you enjoy exploring the exciting venues we have on board Celebrity Eclipse.
