What is the worst thing you forgot?

After spending a week in Oahu pre cruise and a week on POA, we had half a day in Oahu before catching our flight back to MI. We decided to rent a car for the day. As we were dropping off the rental, we saw the airport shuttle waiting for passengers. We were running slightly behind schedule, so we turned over the keys, grabbed our luggage out of the trunk and hopped in the shuttle. Half way home I realized my camera was not in my carry on. I had left it on the console in the rental car! I was horrified! I had taken over 2000 photos! We still had 6 more hours in the plane until we arrived home. By the time we got home, it was 1 or 2 am in Hawaii and I had to wait another 6 or 7 hours to call the car rental agency. After not sleeping all night on the plane, I couldn't sleep until I knew our photos were safe! I made the phone call and after holding forever, she told me the camera had been found and she would mail it out that day. I was still anxious until the package arrived and I could check the memory card! All our photos were there! I was so thankful to the honesty of the employees at the car rental agency! Now we check and doublecheck our rentals before turning the keys over! Lauri

Oh yeah, that reminds me- I forgot my sneakers once! I ended up borrowing my 13 year old son's pair- a perfect, though kinda stinky, fit!

I did that once in the Med - ended up buying a pricey pair in Cannes. On the last day when I started to pack, I discovered the missing sneakers still in my suitcase.

3 weeks ago on the Freedom....Packed the Suitcases and the Garment Bag with both My Suit and Bill's Suit. Both were Brand new and only wore mine once. We NEVER Dress formal on a Cruise but since this was a once every 5 Year Family Cruise and basically we were told to bring Suits for Lot's of Pictures....We did. 3000 miles and hung them in the Closet. Monday Night...Opened the Garment Bag, took both Suits out and low and behold....I noticed my Suit did not look right....Plus the Jacket said Calvin Kline...That's not my jacket. Oh No...I know what happened....I was the Best Man at my Brother's Wedding in Columbia back in Late February....and Looks like our Jackets got mixed up. The Bad News is that his Tux was a rental from Men's Warehouse in Miami where he lives, My Suit was Bought at Men's warehouse in Southern California, both of us has the same suit carrier. My Suit Jacket is no where to be found and I have a Tux Jacket that I can not use....so I am hoping to trade the rental jacket for a voucher to cover the cost of a new Jacket. So in the End, Dockers and a Dress shirt for Formal nights...and we still Looked Good...So not all Bad! :):)

Arrived at the port, and realized there was absolutely no reason to have my house and work keys with me on the sailing . . .so I put my keycase in the car console, and patted myself on the back for making that wise decision.

The key to the lock on my luggage was in there. :(

I was waiting for the line that you locked your keys in your car!

My better half forgot his swimming suit at home. We had to make the trip to JCP in San Juan. That same trip I lost my sunglasses in MIA when going out for a smoke. Since we had to go to the mall anyways, I picked up a new pair of Oakleys. We didn't need to spend the money, but we needed to things!

When we went to a hotel by the Dead Sea for a few days, I forgot to pack my husband's underpants (no shops in area). No problem, we'll wash the ones he's wearing every evening and they'll dry overnight. First night I hung them over the chair on the balcony and they blew off. Saw them below in the morning on top of the canopy over the entrance to the hotel. Needless to say, we didn't ask for them back. He wore his swimming trunks instead!

Once we went down to Eilat for a few days before the family was supposed to be flying to Portugal. In those days in Eilat you could go across the border to Egypt for the casino in the evening. So we took our passports and like good children put them in the hotel safe. When we arrived home, I started packing for Portugal and realised we'd left the passports in the hotel safe (it's a 6 hour drive away)! They kindly agreed to send them by special courier, but they only arrived 1 hour before we were due to leave for the airport for Portugal Closest I've ever been to a heart attack.

A few years back we were to cruise out of San Juan with several friends. It was January, so we flew in a day early.. We piled into 2 taxis and were delivered to Old San Juan. Just as the taxis were pulling away, one of the women discover that she had left her PURSE in the taxi - it had all their documentation, travelers checks (we used them back then) and meds in it. One of the quick thinking men, thought he knew for sure which taxi and driver it was. He grabbed one of the other men, got in the next taxi, and followed them back to the airport. Long story short - can you believe he found the taxi, driver...and PURSE!! What a way to begin our cruise!!

Oh, this was the same trip that San Juan had something go wrong with their water system and only the larger hotels had water. None of the small restaurants or businesses did! Certainly a trip to remember!!

Speaking of passports, my aunt and uncle arrived at the airport in Pennsylvania (an hour from their home) to discover to their horror that they had brought EXPIRED passports for their South America trip! Fortunately a friend/neighbor with a key was able to locate their current PPs in their home for them, and drove to the airport in time!

We seem to make a habit of forgetting one item each cruise. Nothing vital but still annoying.

Pride - Camera/MP3 rechargers- my fault

Mariner -Shorts -my fault

Summit -Suntan lotion -DW's fault

She reminds me that I'm ahead 2 to 1.:p

So excited having gotten settled in our statrm. So exhausted after our traveling from Canada to Miami to get there.

DH took Dgrandson 6 to check out the Kid's Lab area. We totally forgot to keep an eye on the time.

So . . . We missed the MDR first night! Apologies all around second night in MDR

This was our Grandson's first cruise; He still reminds us of that!

Forgot to renew my drivers license one year and when we went to board the plane on our way to the cruise ship and yes it was sailing the same day, the clerk says "Sir we can't use this as ID because it's expired". After a moment of panic I rememberd my passport which worked out just fine.

My wife, of course, tells me her and the kids would have left without me. :p

Our story is just the opposite. My husband accidently packed the jeans, he was going to wear off the ship, the night before and put the luggage out in the hallway. When he woke up in the morning, he did not have any pants to wear off the ship.... Long story short, a friend of ours went up and down her hall until she found someone with an extra pair of sweatpants. They were a little short and tight, but at least he got off the ship without too much embarrassment.:p We washed and returned them to the owner after we got home. We laugh about it now, but at the time I was a nervous wreck. Now, that is the one thing we make sure to keep out before we set the luggage out in the hall the night before.

Gwen :)

Similar story to DH and me. I accidentally packed DH's flip flops in the suitcase the night before disembarking. We realized in the morning DH had no shoes to wear off the ship. Thankfully, I was able to get a pair of slippers from the purser's desk in the morning so my DH would not be entirely barefoot. I erupt into a hilarious fit of laughter every time I think of that.

4AM the morning after our wedding in our hometown we left for the airport (1.5 hours away). DH left all of our cruise/airport documents on his mom's counter. My in-laws were driving us. We get about 50 minutes in to the drive and realize our folder of documents is not with us.. luckily we just passed the exit for our apartment, so we turned around (of course we were on an express way and had to wait until the next exit), and headed back to our apartment. We almost hit a deer and our printer wasn't working, but somehow we got everything reprinted after having our first marriage fight. I took the driver's seat and sped the rest of the way to the airport. We got to the terminal just as they called our row (the last one).

We also forgot my camera charger, shampoo and conditioner.

I now tell all my friends to wait a day to go on your honeymoon.. it's just way too hectic to leave the morning after.

We didn't forget anything on our second cruise! :) Crossing my fingers we don't forget anything in 4 days when we cruise again!

In our case it wasn't what we forgot to bring, it was what we forgot to do!

My husband and I were packing last minute for a 10 night cruise and he went into a little-used closet to get his summer clothes. We were in a panic driving to the airport for our flight and we looked at each other and asked, "did you see Cyber today?" (Cyber is our gorgeous, inquisitive cat). And then it donned on us . .. and our hearts stopped. We just KNEW that she had scrurried into that closet and we closed the door. We couldn't turn around or we would miss our flight . .. and our house/cat sitter couldn't get there until the next day. As soon as the sitter got to the house, Ivan, the other (smarter) cat led her right to the closet door where Cyber was crying. We felt awful but she was OK. And she STILL scurries into closets when we are not looking.

Now we do a "headcount" before we go ANYWHERE! ;)

Cyber is the blue lynx point Siberian, Ivan is the white Siberian in my avatar. Both have gorgeous blue eyes.

:D Too funny! Thanks for the giggles! I was thinking he had nothing and would have to go commando  :p Good thing he had swimming shorts with him!!

Some of these are really funny.:D

We haven't forgotten anything ourselves but our friends are both very forgetful. On our first cruise together we were nearly at Southampton and my friend suddenly realised she'd forgotten her straighteners. She insisted she couldn't travel without them so they left us at the terminal whilst they walked into Southampton to buy a set - she'd left them hanging out of her bedroom window to make them cool quicker.

Then, on the day we dismebarked her husband forgot to take out any shoes. He had to go barefoot to breakfast and luckily (or unluckily) they found a pair of sparkly women's flip-flops in lost property which he had to wear to disembark.:p

Preparing for my cruise and making my list, I'm trying not to forget anything. Then I realize, so what if I forget my toothpaste, I can buy some onboard. That got me thinking, what is the worst thing you could forget to pack?

OK, so we know passport/ID is probably at the top of the list. Anything else, that would put a severe damper on your cruise?

Actually, toothpaste is the worst thing I ever forgot to pack. You'd think it would be no big deal; just buy some onboard. Unfortunately, the onboard shop happened to be out of toothpaste. After two sea days at the start of our cruise, we hit the first port, and finding a place to buy toothpaste was priority number one!

Absolutely same routine! One of our cats is known for opening cupboards and closing doors (sometimes while another of our cats is inside....he's diabolical like that). Sometimes, it looks like a poltergeist hit our kitchen! We have to block several doors in addition to checking the closets before we leave.

Yes. Because he isn't allowed to forget about it because we keep reminding him about the first time he went.

Also, the first time we went with them we pre-paid the parking at Southampton and they took the car off us. As the driver took the car my friend as where-abouts he was parking it on the ship. Honest truth she really thought we were going on a posh car-ferry. :D
