Oasis - Disembarkation

Recommended Posts

We have a 11:25am flight and want to walk off with our luggage. What is the best time to leave. Where can we get breakfast so early in the morning if we are thinking of leaving by 7am. I assume 7am should be sufficient amount of time. Thoughts? We have 7/9 YO with us and have to feed them breakfast since there may be a long wait at the a/p if all goes well. Thanks.

The ship has breakfast on disembarkation day. Usually Windjammer and the MDR are open. On Oasis, probably several other venues are open too. The schedule will be in a flyer you get called "As Your Depart".

You can probably get off the ship as early as 6:15am or so.

You can have breakfast bought to your stateroom through room service. All you have to do is fill out what you and your family want for breakfast and the time you would like the food to be deliver to you. Hang it on the outside of the door knob the night before. Read the form to see what time is the latest you have to hang it out. This way the kids will get their breakfast plus you can stay in your stateroom for last minute packing

Wow - I'm surprised they'll do this on disembarkation day especially on the Oasis.

If I recall correctly, and maybe I don't, they have not offered room service on disembarkation day on any of the cruises I have been on.

You are correct...none of the ships offer Room Service on day of disembarkation...in fact I think room service stops around midnight on the last night...although I could be mistaken on that...

No you can't....no room service on any of the ships the last morning...

I was on Oasis for the Sep. 28 cruise (got off last week, Oct. 5). There is a bit of a slowdown due to sequester and customs. However we had a 7:45 off time. We left our cabin at 7:50. When we got to deck 5 we had to line up as they had stopped debarkation for hold ups at customs. About 10 or 15 minutes later they started up. We drove so we had suitcases to gather. Found a porter and got our suitcases. If you get a porter they will get you through the customs lines quicker (this is coordinated with RCCL). We got through customs easily and loaded our car. We were out of the port at 8:35. That amounted to 45 minutes from leaving our cabin and in the car out of the port. I don't think you'll have any problem making an 11:25 flight. It's a very short ride to the airport. But I would suggest you either carry everything off and go as early as possible, or get a porter and have him escort you through customs.

No, sorry, don't have that info, but try asking on the Florida Departures board:

when we arrive at the airport? thanks? we still have to line up at Southwest to check in our big suitcases. I can't convince my husband to just do a rollaway onto the flight. I wish I could but with his suit and his dress shoes, they take up space plus husband is rather a fashionista (sigh sigh).

Depending on the airline, you may be able to use Royal's Luggage Valet service:

We did the walk your own luggage off. We were off the ship by 7am.

There is NO room service. we went up to the windjammer for breakfast . The main dining room did not start until 7am.

If you are planning on the windjammer, go early or expect crowds. Earlier in the week, you got in line and they sat you at a table......not so on the last morning....very man for themselves !

Don't count on getting off the ship so early. On Oct 12 no one got off before 8am.

Customs was the hold up.

My daughter and I did the walk off on the 12th - they started MUCH earlier than 8:00. We had a quick breakfast in the windjammer and walked off the ship at 7:10. A lot of people had already left. Walked all the way to the end of the customs line which was huge. It took us about 35 minutes to get through that line. We were at the airport by 8:15am.

My mom and my sister-in-law were driving home and they had a departure time of 8:15 to 8:30. They were not called until a bit after 9:00 and were on the highway by 9:45.

The OP should be fine with a flight after 11 as long as they do the walk off and not take any chances. Maybe this whole mess will be over with and they'll have more than 2 customs agents there.

2 customs when you get off the ship? Insane. There should be at least 10 of them. Game plan...eat at Windjam, or grab food as early as possible. Bring to room, let kids eat, I finish packing and we're hopefully off by the ship no later than 7am. I hate travel days (to/from). I used to work in the travel business but it still puts my stomach into a knot until I'm sitting at the boarding gate. I don't mind going early and sitting by myself for 4 hours but it is harder with kids and having to keep them busy.

We were on the same sailing and those that were doing the self disembark were getting off when we went to the dining room for breakfast at 6:45am - not sure what time they started but it was supposed to be 6:00am. We were one of the first groups called off the ship that did not do the self disembark and that was around 7:40am. There was a delay at the escalator and once we got down to claim our luggage and get through customs/immigration but in total it only tooks us about one hour from the time we left breakfast and the time we were on the taxi headed to the airport.

Our flight was at 11:10am and got to the airport by 9:00am so it can be done even if you don't carry off your own bags, just be sure to get one of the early departure luggage tag #'s and hope you don't have any long customs delays or any missing luggage. Obviously, if you can carry your own luggage off the ship then you will be that much more ahead of the game as you were allowed to leave between 6:00am and 7:30am

Just one tip, if for some reason don't carry of your own luggage and on Friday you get luggage tags that are not in the first few groups scheduled to be called off, ask your stateroom attendant for help. Ours was not able to help us but the other couple we were with had one that was willing to go the extra mile and get us all appropriate luggage tags. Otherwise, we were scheduled to get off at 10:00am and we definately would not have made the 11:10am flight.

I don't know where the discrepancy in times came from. Opus dining room was one of the two places passengers were asked to wait, and they held everyone until at least. 8:15. Said Customs was late which held everyone up. Our 9:15 time was 10:00 by the time they called us. I'm glad to know people did manage to get off earlier.

We filled out the form left in our stateroom requesting our departure time and there were many choices. Just be sure to fill yours out and leave it for your steward by 6 pm Tuesday. Following those instructions have us the exact time we wanted. On paper , at least.

Have breakfast on the ship and carry your luggage off and you will make your flight easily.

We were on the Oct.5-12th sailing. Several Park n go shuttles were lined up waiting for passengers. We were off the ship and through customs and in the shuttle van by 7:30. We carried our own luggage off and left our deck 8 cabin around 6:50.

Express walk off on Oasis 6:30am-7:45am.

No confusion (as mentioned above) with the Opus Dining room..Breakfast is served there on the deck #3 level...exiting passengers that use the Opus are on level #5.
