Did Celebrity get it right - Captain's Club

You're confusing your posters I never said I was 4 cruises away. You may want to read my post more carefully.

My calculator says 25 x 30 is 750 (Elite +) I think you're confused, my assumption along with the majority was right on. Most people figured it would likely have been similar to the old Diamond + number and it was. I guessed correctly.

I dont dislike CC, but an inexpensive bottle of sparkling wine and a fruitbasket have limited value to us.

Sorry didn't mean to say it was you, it was the other posters who now instead of 4 points away is 8.

I don't particularly care for the wine, I don't drink it, but I like the fruit (keeps me from eating junk). I like concierge class because of the location.

Well they're NOT doing it right today.

I have had 2 emails from them today:

Now I wish I could believe everything I read.

1) your cruise vacation is nearly here. Book a Beverage Package.

2) your cruise on Siihouette is almost here. Book speciality dining on the first night with 20% reduction.

I did have a future cruise costed for Silhouette, when we were on Infinity, but that's as far as it went, no deposit was paid.

I have replied to the first email, asking where my cruise is taking me!

I am just about ready for another cruise, so am awaiting their reply!!!!!

If you have 10 cruises on NCL, you might want to check your Latitudes account. You should be Platinum, which means:

Free laundry

Free dinner for 2 in a specialty restaurant (2 dinners if you and your cabin mate are both platinum) with a bottle of wine at each dinner

Sparkling wine in the stateroom

Behind the scenes tour (which on Dawn last month was the best we'd ever seen--better than what Princess charges $150 pp for)

Chocolate covered strawberries

We are Elite+ on X and Platinum on NCL and both of the programs are pretty darn good, but I don't feel that these are a "gift" from the cruise lines. They were earned by putting lots of money in their pockets. It is a win-win for both the company and us, which is the way American business used to be structured.

Well, thanks for that. Our last cruise was the 10th so I asume these benefits would kick in on our next cruise. (sorry for highjacking the thread).

Why not find a deal on a 14 night cruise in a suite and use the 25 pt bonus with 1-2-3....and you'll be zenith and get a free cruise. I'd do that in a second if I was that close to zenith. It's far easier to work with the system than to fume about how close you were. Just get it over with and continue to enjoy celebrity with more perks than you had in the old system where 100 points got you a bottle of cheap sparkling wine....

Great advice and an easy fix. Quesion, what is the 25 bonus points with 1-2-3? I haven't seen this before, but could have missed it.

Sort of.....

I do think they got the new levels right...the break points and the conversion, even the bonuses for those close to elite. It gives them flexibility to give points as incentives, no one lost any perks, those with 25 or more old points got some additional recognition (perks) and the top cruisers got a formal level. Very well done IMHO

I agree. But there is a missing perk from the Elite benefit list & I'd like to find out if anyone knows if this was an oversight or if Elite will no longer have Priority Tender Tickets. Anyone know what happened to this perk? Thanks

We just returned from the Reflection transatlantic last weekend. We had $600 OBC to start with. Our bill at the end of the cruise was $38. My point is with all the Elite perks, free drinks in the casino and a Rumrunner or two...or three:D, we did just fine. I bought a soda package for my wife, I had two bags of laundry done for free, two items pressed for free and we used our free coffee drink coupons at the Lawn Club. We even bought 180 additional internet minutes on top of our free 180 minutes. The program is good, period. Have you ever received a bonus at work? It's just that, a bonus. Not a requirement.

I just checked & yes, we still get them:). Thanks, never thought to check on Facebook.

Thank goodness we still get Priority Tender.

As mentioned previously, we waited 3 hrs to get off in Split & I said I would never wait like that again.

If my place of employment gave me the Elite Plus bonus I would start looking for a new job. They're pretty much telling me I'm not a valued employee.

The other thing missing is pressing of garments. I am really hoping I have just missed this - it is one coupon we always use.

Check the levels lower for that perk, it's likely listed there and carries forward....all the writeups basically say you get most of the perks of the level below you, plus xyz..

How do the other five lines you have cruised on compare as far as awarding points to their customers?

It varies. And as I implied it hasn't been a factor at all for us yet and likely won't be a big deal going forward: free internet doesn't make up for bad food.

The one that had an immediate "loyalty" impact was AMA - we got 5% off our second cruise (on top of any other discounts, like 5% early booking and 5% pay in full). Perks are fine, but money is even better! There was no downside, because we loved everything about our AMA cruise - especially the food - but this insured that we didn't even cross-shop other lines.

That's my point - if Celebrity is using this program to ensure loyalty, they are shooting themselves in the foot by decreasing its appeal to the majority of their customers. This may help sell a few more suites, but how many suites does each ship hold? Wouldn't it be better to sell dozens more OV cabins?

We agree, and we are now starting to look for a new cruise line.

Ditto!

I also have a sneaky suspicion that they are going to shove more cabins on Celebrity ships to overlook the foyer. Otherwise, why have shows there now with no seating. Dear lawd, can you imagine trying to get seat in the sun if thiis happens?

Have you ever heard of Perfect Cruise Lines? Their ships are based in Utopia. All the free cabins are Presidential Suites. It's an all free cruise. Even the casino! Everyone is a BIG winner! They ask each passenger what their specific likes and desires are prior to sailing....... Get a grip folks! Yes, you can "vote" with your wallet and go elsewhere. I won't mind!:D

What is the difference between a cruise and airline ticket. You pay for the airline ticket in full when you book it, but don't get the points until after you fly.

Airlines don't give you more QUALIFYING miles for travel in the front.

Tommy, I'm a gambler and a member of Celebrity's Blue Chip Club (free drinks in the casino and free cruises twice a year) and I'd bet anything Zenith members will not be receiving free premium alcohol packages. Feel free to email me after your first sailing as a Zenith member and let me know how you liked you alcohol package.:D

My TA just took care of the beverage packages for my cruises in December and Feb/March. Apparently they need to be "purchased" in advance even though the cost is $0.00. This is what my confirmation looks like:

Complimentary Premium Beverage Package for Zenith Members

Total Packages Purchased: 2

Total Cost *: 0.00 USD

I have never had a beverage package before (the Elite cocktails were enough) but look forward to being able to get the free wine with lunch & dinner, the free cocktails on embarkation day, and ANY drink I want:)

Anyone else get the feeling some have a horse in this race?

No, I don't have any stock in RCCL. I have very little tolerance for people that complain about things that are offered as gratitude. It's kinda like complaining I gave you a $100 bill and not five $20's.

You may be right... they should have named it a Gratitude Program and NOT a Loyalty Program.
