Was on Eclipse Dec. 28/13 and the Hot Glass Show was still going strong; they were expecting a huge shipment of glass pellets to last for the rest of 2014.

Enjoy your cruise & the shows which are even more enjoyable at night when you can see the glow of the hot glass.

We too were aboard the Eclipse for the New Year's cruise and enjoyed the Hot Glass Show every time we went. On our cruise they had either two or three shows per day depending on whether it was a sea day or not. They did a night show almost every day in which they did the hot glass show. This show is impressive during the day. It is more so at night.

Hope this helps and that you enjoy the show as much as we did.

:D:):D

Curious how often they do the show?

We were up on deck one night very late, maybe 1 am.

Crew was having a crew party there, and roasting marshmallows in the ovens and making Smore's. :D

this was on my April Eclipse Transatlantic.

That is awesome! :) made my heart glad.

We're doing our first X cruise in April, on the Solstice.

Love the hot glass shows as well. There is always seating available, although they are very well attended. A bonus is that they will almost always have a free drawing for a piece that was made. We were lucky enough to win a beautiful vase on our Eclipse cruise last March!

Does it get really busy for the glass-blowing shows? Do you need to be really early to get a seat or do they give out tickets or anything? This show is one of the reasons we booked the Eclipse...not sure how I'm gonna wait another year:D

We were on Eclipse last July to Iceland and Norway. There were always seats available and we went 4 times. You can sit through a whole show (2-3 hours) or dip in and out. Each show is a bit different. On quieter days they gave those who attended raffle tickets and picked three at the end of that show and the winners could pick a pick of glass to take home. We won a lovely dish.

It was great sitting out there watching the show on a cold and misty sea day wrapped up in a lawn club blanket.

Thanks Kevin for the info...think I'll enjoy it more tho watching in the hot and sunny Caribbean, but that's just me:D Did you win anything?

We have enjoyed the show on Solstice. One trip was in the Med, and it was a great comparison with the artisans in Murano. The Corning specialists are very skilled, and we went several times. It was the favorite nighttime activity for our two teenage sons (believe it or not!)

Very much looking forward to more Glass Shows on Equinox.

In addition to the raffles, there was an auction at the last show. Three pieces, I believe were auctioned off, with two in support of the Corning Works and the third toward Breast Cancer research. I overbid on the third piece, and am happy I did! Our bowl is a beautiful reminder of a fantastic cruise!

In a separate thread, ~Cruisenut~ is posting the daily schedule of events from on board the Eclipse during her current 14 day cruise. They are up to day 6 today, and the only mention of glass blowing so far is in today's posting, with a "Meet the glassblowers" scheduled for this afternoon. Not a single show so far that I can determine.

Is this normal? Do they wait until half way through the cruise before giving this show?

It was awesome.

We also had a full moon while crossing and Leonid Meteor showers too. Incredible way to view - in the middle of the Atlantic.

I also noticed that today was the first day that I saw anything scheduled for the Hot Glass Show. On my past three cruises there were shows almost every day and often more than one show a day. The shows definitely began before day 6.

The lack of scheduled shows on Eclipse this week is the reason I started this thread. I really hope X has not cut back on their marvelous glass shows.

We'll be on the February 22 departure and can't wait to be someplace warm!

I see you've now posted something on ~Cruisenut's~ thread, so maybe we'll get some further information there.

Hopefully we'll see you at a show in a few weeks! :)

We loved the glass show on the Eclipse last summer :), going to miss it on the Reflection in July :(

I suppose one way of weaning passengers off the glass show prior to refits that replace it with the Lawn Club would be to reduce the shows.

On the Dec. 28/13 cruise the artists did say that they were going to have to re-line the main kiln that heats and holds the clear glass that is the basis for every piece. They said it would take at least 5 days so they were glad that the work was scheduled on a 14 day cruise as if it had been a 7 day cruise, there may have been a chance of no shows at all if things took longer than expected. I'm assuming that the work is being done on this cruise and that's why no shows have been listed.

Hi everyone,

Going on a 12 nighter at the end of October out of Sydney. Does anyone know if they have the glassblowing shows on the Century? Hubby and I would love to see them........

I have a lovely green glass collection so I have a vested interest. :D

Thanks
