My DH and I have a cruise scheduled for March 23. Any comments?

Andy Posted February 6, 2014 #6 Share Posted February 6, 2014 (edited) Hello Andy,While this is (I think) good news, I am concerned about service on Celebrity at the spa prior to the Canyon Ranch start up. My DH and I have a cruise scheduled for March 23. Any comments? Hi Cruise a holic, I'd say this is very good news, as the consensus is that Canyon Ranch has a huge following, and is very well liked. I'm not a spa person, so I'm probably not the best person to ask on this topic :) Regarding the transition, I'd fully expect Celebrity to continue to offer an enjoyable Spa experience during the transition period, as it's in the best interests for both Celebrity and their Guests. I'm sailing on Eclipse on April 5th. I'm unsure if the transition will be made by then, but if it is - I will be sure to report from the ship. Hope this is helpful ! kelmac Posted February 6, 2014 #7 Share Posted February 6, 2014 I know Canyon Ranch is the Spa operator on the Queen Mary 2 and Oceania/Regent cruise lines. My wife and I aren't "spa" people, so no first hand experience with them. http://www.canyonranch.com/sea/oceania-cruises Enjoy! Kel:)
chamima Posted February 6, 2014 #8 Share Posted February 6, 2014 We'll be on the Eclipse on Saturday. I don't know that I'll use any services since I've found them mediocre and overpriced lately but if I see anything to report back (about staff attitudes) I will. Orator Posted February 6, 2014 #10 Share Posted February 6, 2014 Let's see: 1. A new Loyalty program that gives "points" based on cabin category; 2. A progam that makes it easier to reach a higher level if you are in a top suite, but more difficult to reach if you are in a Sky Suite or less; 3. A survey asking about a dedicated dining venue for Suite passengers 4. A new lounge in Michael's Club for Zenth and top suite passengers 5. A new partnership with Canyon Ranch Does this indicate a new demographic emphasis for Celebrity? Does this indicate a new approach to building the bottom line? You can connect the dots as you like and draw whatever conclusion you wish.

rebeccalouiseagain Posted February 6, 2014 #13 Share Posted February 6, 2014 (edited) They are probably just trying to get more interest in the Spas. What is the most overpriced services on board? The spa. So it better be awesome at the inflated prices. I have had a couple massages on Celebrity that were very good and one that was horrible. I wish they would offer the pay- by- the- minute pool side chair massages more often- love them! Cunard had Canyon Ranch and it is really nice. I think it will make a nice addition and I'll definitely try it if they run a special. The hair cut I got on Cunard's QM2/ Canyon Ranch Spa was fantastic! I went back a month later on another 4-night cruise and got another haircut with the same stylist. I laughed that this was a really expensive way to get a haircut. h20cruzer Posted February 6, 2014 #14 Share Posted February 6, 2014 Does that mean I wont be able to afford a Celebrity cruise any longer??? Ha Ha Never really heard any positive comments from people who used Steiner, all I really heard was they want to push their products and give you a sales speech. phoenix_dream Posted February 6, 2014 #15 Share Posted February 6, 2014 Love the Canyon Ranch at the Venetian in Las Vegas, although I definitely don't love the prices - they make the current Celebrity spa prices look like a bargain:rolleyes:. Hopefully they won't completely price out everyone, but at least you get a quality experience for the money.

I find that interesting as they have several megaships now and there are only so many people at that income level to attract. It is a very fine line they are walking IMHO to try to attract the big spenders without making their current base of middle to upper middle class folks feel slighted, so that they can keep their ships filled. Right now I am not sure they are succeeding with the latter.

Laurab23 Posted February 6, 2014 #18 Share Posted February 6, 2014 I would like to see them update the Summit spa and get in some real heated loungers instead of the "seats"that they have now. Those seats are too uncomfortable for me because I have short legs.I love the heated ceramic loungers on Princess and Carnival.I know the newer Celebrity ships have them but I sail out of Bayonne and Summit is the only Celebrity that departs from there. The 1% that don't have their own yachts are far more likely to be on Seabourn, SilverSea, Crystal or Seadream.
