readytolose Posted April 23, 2014 #1 Share Posted April 23, 2014 I'm sorry if this is a silly question but looking at all the review pictures from Allure and Oasis I notice it is relatively dark at night in Central Park. It got me wondering about how safe it is. I realize it is nothing like the real central park in NY but has anyone ever not felt safe walking through at night? Our cabin is on deck 8 so if for some reason my husband wants to stay somewhere and I want to head back to our room, will it be safe?
Darkwolfe Posted April 23, 2014 #2 Share Posted April 23, 2014 There are cameras covering the space. Probably safer than the corridor and no real danger in either I would think.

You shouldn't have to actually walk THROUGH Central Park to get to your cabin. Personally, I wouldn't think anything of it, but you aren't comfortable, just go the long way around so that you can stay in the inside corridors which always well lit at night.:)
fluffysue Posted April 23, 2014 #4 Share Posted April 23, 2014 It is kind of quiet late at night, aside from the one little outside bar that stays open, but it doesn't feel any less safe than any other part of the ship. It's not as dark as it looks in pictures. Sent from my SPH-D710VMUB using Forums mobile app
Gayle V Posted April 23, 2014 #5 Share Posted April 23, 2014 I felt totally safe in Central Park at night. As a matter of fact I made an extra effort to walk through the park at night, several times. Usually on my way back to the cabin, after leaving hubby to play in the casino late in the evening. CP at night was really beautiful and peaceful. You can even hear the crickets. (Recorded sounds, I'm sure, but very real sounding.) It would be a shame to miss that experience when you're on the ship. (By the way, the park really isn't so large that you could ever be more that steps away from an exit. )
Merion_Mom Posted April 23, 2014 #6 Share Posted April 23, 2014 Except for the homeless people on the bench and the muggers, it is perfectly safe.

Rare markeb Posted April 23, 2014 #8 Share Posted April 23, 2014 Except for the homeless people on the bench and the muggers, it is perfectly safe. And don't forget all the dead bodies and Law and Order cops! (Inside joke between my wife and I as we spend a fair amount of time in the REAL Central Park.) It's fine. Wouldn't worry about it at all. The ship is lit more than you realize. And it's probably only 20-30 meters from end to end.
Rare thrifty99 Posted April 23, 2014 #9 Share Posted April 23, 2014 Except for the homeless people on the bench and the muggers, it is perfectly safe. Ever since the mounted police started doing security sweeps in Central Park the homeless and muggers have decreased dramatically. Unfortunately this required converting the Aqua Theater into stables for the horses. Seriously, I always felt safe in CP no matter how late I was walking thru it. There are not really any hidden areas off the pathways to worry about.

SpencerNY1 Posted April 23, 2014 #11 Share Posted April 23, 2014 I have fallen asleep in the hallway because I locked myself out with jewelry on and was woken four hours later by the breakfast room service guy. I have never felt in danger on a boat Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

OMG Mike! The absolute very best CD ever, there's never been anyone match him. I really hope he's doing great in Manitoba! :)

chloe kitty Posted April 23, 2014 #18 Share Posted April 23, 2014 I thought all the bad neighborhoods were on the lower decks, not Central Park!
beachgoerzz Posted April 23, 2014 #19 Share Posted April 23, 2014 Except for the homeless people on the bench and the muggers, it is perfectly safe. This post made me LOL! Sorry but Central Park is IMO the most beautiful place on the ship day OR night. Safety is a non issue. My suggestion is walk through every time you go to your room. We were on deck 8 on Oasis and for me, that was one of the perks to being on that deck! Enjoy!!! Sent from my iPhone using Forums

1992cruiser Posted April 23, 2014 #23 Share Posted April 23, 2014 I have never really thought about it because it feels peaceful while walking through it, but with 6000 people on every sailing, I guess you will get a few bad people who might be looking for an oppurunity. While I don't feel the need to walk my wife to her cabin if I'm staying in the casino, I usually do just to be nice (not for safety). I would say, just be aware of your surroundings.
