Slow Sea Princess

Recommended Posts

Looks like the SP bridge cam is stuck on an image from yesterday...must've stopped transmitting?

http://www.princess.com/bridgecams/cp/sea_bridgecam.html

Looks like it has left Fremantle. It was listed yesterday for leaving at 6.00 pm Monday night, and it's not showing on the Fremantle Ports listing today. I noticed the bridgecam seemed to be "stuck" but the Port Camera's didn't show it in the passenger terminal yesterday - but it was listed as being there.

Now it's gone

My wife was on the ship several months ago and they were fiddling with departure and port times to keep the old girl going.

Then there was the patch up in Singapore.

As the old saying goes:- 'There is always sufficient time and money to do the job properly the second time!'

Love this old saying (from Princess cruises thread).

Guess many of us have learnt that lesson!

You would think Princess should have learnt it a long time ago.:D

We may have learnt , but unfortunately a new batch of bean counters comes out every year , and they strive to impress . They make the profits look good on paper by cutbacks and cutting corners.

As said above , they ened up paying double in the end.

Perth would have to be the furtherest away port to fly people home from.

With the most expensive flights in Australia and the next cruise November, according to a local! :)

In some ways, I think it is poetic justice for the way they treated cruisers on previous cruises, on the slow Sea Princess, with disrespect.

Yes, you are most likely right, They will lose more than money with this stuff up.

I have been told that passengers had to pay $100 gratuities. Curious why?

I thought gratuities weren't payable on Australian based ships, like the Sea Princess.

It is possible that people who booked from overseas would have had to pay gratuities - when we book in Aus - it's "all in" but overseas bookings through overseas TA's usually have to pay gratuities. They aren't as lucky as we are - we know what we are getting. It's all academic now though. They'll get their money back. The only tip that passengers would have had to give would be "fix yer ships mate" :D

Is that what were saying ?

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Yes .Dry Dock Sydney at Garden Island to repair ,or complete the repair that was carried out in Singapore , and hopefully have it all done in time to head up to Brisbane for the next cruise to NZ on 29/09/14

These are Australian passengers who paid the $100 gratuities and have now returned home from their ill-fated cruise.
