luvtosail61 Posted September 10, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 10, 2014 Just returned from the Norwegian Fjords on the Eclipse. We were in Aqua Class. Loved being able to have Breakfast and Dinner in BLU. The service and staff were were amazing. If they have "The Tenors of Rock" group (do not miss them). They are wonderful. We went to the 8:30PM show and came back for the 10:30PM. Flew into Heathrow, took Woodford Chauffeurs round-trip, as we always do with any cruise boarding in England. They are very reliable. We cannot say enough on how great the Crew and Staff were on the ship. So far, after four Celebrity sailings, Eclipse is our favorite!

Jenna109 Posted September 11, 2014 #9 Share Posted September 11, 2014 So glad you enjoyed the Eclipse and the Tenors of Rock. They were one of the highlights for us on our Iceland cruise in July. Fingers crossed that they will be on when we cruise in October. We also met the lads putting on the lawn one afternoon and they were extremely nice and down to earth. We really enjoyed their performance. Luggage tags have arrived so getting excited
upwarduk Posted September 11, 2014 #10 Share Posted September 11, 2014 Were you able to embark when you wanted to, or were you given a set time, allocated by deck number.. I read that this was the case earlier in the season, due to extensive road works in Southampton.

Our time was supposed to be 1.45 but we arrived at 11.20 and were onboard 10 mins later. We are back on in three weeks and will just get then where suits. Iamthesea Posted September 11, 2014 #12 Share Posted September 11, 2014 (edited) Glad you enjoyed the cruise. We were suppose to be on that cruise in an AQ, but cancelled in favor of going to Israel and Jordan this past winter, along with our Baltic's cruise in May. We have sailed on the Eclipse before. The Solstice class is a favorite. ;) Are you going to post any photos of your trip? :) Edited September 11, 2014 by Iamthesea

maggie.1008 Posted September 12, 2014 #18 Share Posted September 12, 2014 We did the TA in April on the Eclipse. One of our best cruises ever. From the Captain down everyone did a super job. I think Darren Tiller the Hotel Director has a lot to do with this. Our Butler told us the officers dine with the rest of the crew on the Eclipse. We had the pleasure of dining at the Captains table with Darren. I told him how happy we were with our Butler. The next day our Butler told me that Darren sat with him at breakfast and told him about our comments. Now that is good management !
wattsey Posted September 12, 2014 #19 Share Posted September 12, 2014 We love the Eclipse, have sailed on her many times. We have friends just returned from your cruise and they had an issue with the cabin steward saying that celebrity are not paying the crew there tips and asking for them to go to guest relations to have the pre paid tips removed and to pay him personally. They say that they were not to only ones as they met someone from a suite and the butler had told them the same story! Is this a crew scam to increase earnings ? We have never come across anything like this when we have sailed with Celebrity.

Hi upwarduk We were on the norway cruise and our docs said we should board at 2.15pm :( we arrived at 9.30am and checked in the cases (no queries as nothing else barely dropping off at that time) then went off to park and walked back to port we arrived at Port about 10.15 straight through check in no queue no questions about our assigned time. We then sat in the boarding area for about 15 mins before being called to board we were on board by 10.45am enjoying our drinks package :) no queues anywhere. So just turn up when you want :) fastest boarding and getting off we've ever known :) Sent from my GT-I9505 using Forums mobile app

We were on the Eclipse sailing before the yours, and we found Mr. Tiller to be outstanding. Like Sue Denning, he was very friendly, approachable, and often seen around the ship. It's very clear that he cares about the guests having a great experience. It's funny... after first boarding the ship, I was a tiny bit disappointed when I learned that the prior HD Raffaelle - who is also outstanding, had moved to Summit. However, after sailing with Darren, my concerns were unwarranted. Darren now has new fans :). Edited September 12, 2014 by Host Andy

They say that they were not to only ones as they met someone from a suite and the butler had told them the same story! Is this a crew scam to increase earnings ? We have never come across anything like this when we have sailed with Celebrity. The first few times we sailed we asked the same standard questions that I am sure many ask because they are interested, but that doesn't make it right. I than realized that the crew doesn't ask us how much we make or how we are paid. Is there any where else that you feel comfortable or would even ask how much someone is paid or how much they make? I no longer ask or really care. They have agreed to a contract and what it is is their business. I pay the gratuities as required and if I feel that more is earned than I will compensate as I feel. How it is distributed doesn't matter. I worked as a dealer in a casino. The majority of our earnings were from tips. All of the tips for the dealers were pooled and then evenly divided per 24 hour period/total manhours worked x hours worked. It was what we agreed to and the way that it was. Just go on the cruise and don't worry about or be concerned about their tips. You will get a lot of answers and most won't be the truth as it is their way of being polite instead of saying that it is none of your business. Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅

jsea Posted September 13, 2014 #24 Share Posted September 13, 2014 We were also on this cruise and had an excellent time. staff and service excellent food very good; especially Blu (stellar waitstaff -- kudos to them) ship in tip-top shape embarkation painless and rapid (<10 minutes curb-to-ship) baggage delivered shortly after sail away The itinerary remains one of our favorites. This was our second time to the Norwegian fjords and we highly recommend it. More scenic and relaxing than Alaska (in our very humble opinion) which we have also done twice.
