What's your per night cost target for a JS?

Just curious what everyone's different personal targets are for the cost of a JS per night to where they will either upgrade or jump on a JS. Figure 5 day or longer cruise. Is 125 pp pd an unrealistic target?

That would be a very good price for a 7 day Radiance, Voyager, or Freedom class Caribbean cruise. My limit would be in the $150 pp pd range for a 7 day cruise.

Is the $150 pp based on the base rate or total price including port fees and less C and A balcony discount?

Base rate, including any residence or senior discount, but not including port fees, taxes, gratuities, or balcony discount.

We just purchased a JS today, 7 nights, Serenade, NOLA, $2873 ($1349 p/p)in December. It came with $1000 OBC, and pre-paid gratuities. We actually used a TA, which we never do....but figured it was that close to the cruise. Why Not?

It is an average price, and after final payment. We just decided over the weekend that we would like to go, if the price came down. And it did, considerably.

It will probably be on GGG sale this weekend, but we would lose the OBC by waiting until Monday. So we booked. :D Oh yes. And we still have to get airfare. UGH.

I paid $1350 Canadian per person ($1180 US PP) Including all taxes, fee's, etc.

This is for a Junior Suite on Oasis Eastern Caribbean cruise.

For me, I thought this was a good deal so I booked... It works out to $168US/night per person inclusive of fees.

My goal is normally to spend $2500-$3000 on a cruise, I get the highest stateroom I can for that price. If $2500 only got me a window room, then so be it, if it gets me a Junior Suite, then so be it. My budget is my budget, regardless of room category.

6 nights in JS on Indy - New Years Eve Cruise $2278.85p/p. $4557.70 total. I hate doing the math that way when it comes out to almost 760 bucks a nite.. Oh well, if I didn't think it was worth it:eek:

On the bright side, I believe most of the above are referring to per person. Which brings it down to a much more reasonable $380/day.

OTOH, I think $125 is very ambitious. Great if you can get it of course, but I think it's pretty rare.

I did find a handful in the 110-125 range for 5 nighters on Explorer. After those though the prices ramp up significantly. Shorter than 5 nights and the space isn't really necessary. Not chasing points (I may regret saying that in a few years).

We don't spend a lot of time in our room...but maybe that is because we get small rooms / insides where there is no reason to stay in the room. Maybe with a JS I'd have a new found appreciation for the room and balcony?

We have one of those on the Explorer booked. Right now the JS is not that much more than a balcony. That said if the prices go down a lot on a balcony we might downgrade ourselves.

If you can get away on short notice, Explorer has a Nov. 29 5-nt sailing out of PC where a JS is about $195 pp/pn before any discounts after fees and taxes. Or if you go down to a D1-D3 Superior Balcony, you can get your price down to only $65 pp/pn. That's an incredible deal imo.

I saw those as well. Crazy!!!! The prices on those 5 nights on the EX have been all over the place.

A good target rate would be dependent upon class of ship, time of year and length of cruise since these all affect pricing.

My JS on my upcoming LOTS Thanksgiving cruise was $799 pp but it is only 4 nights = $200 per night pp. However my cost was only $299pp, pennies under $75 per night, because I redeemed 50k Royal points for free 4-night cruise. :)

My JS on my upcoming FOTS 1/4/15 cruise originally was only $249 pp but it is only 2 nights = $124.50 pp per night. Before final payment, I was able to swap out my BOGOHO rate for the current OBC promo. Yes, on a 2-night cruise. BUT this is a strange cruise - RCCL didn't add sailing until August, it's immediately pre dry dock, and it is not selling well for obvious reasons. (D1s are actually higher than a JS and then get only half the OBC!) Anyway, my rate increased to $332 but with a $200 OBC pp. While I'll probably just spend it, theoretically I could take $200 cash from casino, and with 5% fee, receive $190. So the cost of my JS would only be $71 pp per night!!! ($332-$190=$142, $142/2=$71). If you book a suite guarantee rate of $299, that math would bring it down to $54.50!!! That's a sweet deal for a junior suite! :D

We sailed Vision in September (5 nights) and paid $1326, which included tax, fees, and port charges. This was for an aft corner JS (8088), so I thought that was a good price considering the oversized wrap-around balcony.

Our EOS sailing for Jan 4, 2015 is currently offering a military rate for a JS for a total of $134/pp/pd, which includes all taxes, fees and the military discount. I may upgrade, but right now I am only paying $80 pp/pd for an E1 balcony cabin and it connects to my grandkids cabin, so we'll have to see.
