Royal caribbean, i love you !!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

To all ......

It's the new "PC" term for a formal night.

These are on Anthem of the seas (where the don't have formal nights).

The first happened a couple of days ago and the other tonight.

And nearly everyone made the effort and joined in. :)

Where exactly in that post did I mention the "F" word ?

and stop being such a cry baby .......... !

I see no tears. Unlike others, I researched this before I booked. I knew what I was booking and was happy with it.

Not trying to be negative here, but what exactly are you still excited about? The Royal Night is NOT a formal night, it's just a menu change that combines different food from all the restaurants, and it isn't going over very well!

I think people are very confused on here (Except Stitchman and I who understand what is going on, must be a British Intelligence thing)

Let me explain. I'll try and keep it in plain English for you all:

1) The taste of Anthem, is a sample menu of all 4 restaurants designed to give a taster of the best dishes to please everyone on the short cruises (3 days or less) so they can sample more food choices when they don't have enough days on board to visit them all. That is the food part and only to do with food. NOT ROYAL NIGHT!!!

2) Royal Night is on the longer voyages (more than 4 days) normal cruising and will feature the dress code of "Wear your best", this is as close to a "Formal" gala night experience we are getting on Anthem, as this is what the BRITISH market wants, before the Americans get it after the summer and it all changes and gets ruined again and spoilt like Quantum did. (See above dining experience and because of greedy Americans wasting loads of food and changing Jamies Italian into ala carte)

These TWO "experiences" are not linked or related and should have their own independant threads to discuss, but as always, someone has steeped in, misread something and taken the Original OP post and making it out to be something else.

The OP should be happy because they wanted a formal night, told only a formal dinner, now a Royal Night is in place, they are happy again.

Now we just wait for Stitchman to enjoy his cruise and explain what really happens in his review on his return. I don't expect a live review as he should be too busy celebrating his Birthday and enjoying himself than post in here to be told how he should be feeling about his cruise and his experience.

First off, stop with the comments about Americans.

I'm sorry for not realizing there are two different things happening. Not my fault that nothing has been explained very well on this thread.

Due to the posts on this thread, I thought that Royal Night only consisted of a menu change. If it has nothing to do with the menu, and really is similar to a formal night, that's great! And that's great for Stitchman! No one is trying to tell him how to like his cruise, it just seemed that this Royal Night wasn't really a formal night, but only a menu change.

:eek::rolleyes:

So where are you two getting all this information? BTW, where is "Dress in Your Best" defined? Best What? How is it enforced?

Stitch, are u sure you want formal nights, a lot of your cruising history has been on casual ships, Eg Ocean village, ncl, ventura etc?

I started off on OV ....... but when I started doing formal cruises I preferred it.

Ventura isn't casual ..... It never has been.

However, I always took my dinner suit after my first formal cruise as I love it so much, and there was always an occasion, Christmas, new year etc.

OV has been gone a long time now.

According to people who just got off the 8 day inaugural they served the taste of Anthem twice on that 8 day cruise. On days 2 and 7. Those nights were also wear your best on which many still depressed as usual.

I am hoping that these menu changes are short lived or at least tell us in advance so that we can dine elsewhere on those nights.

One year when we sailed on Adventure we were docked across from OV in St. Maarten. Those folks had one of the most enjoyable sail-a-way parties out on deck that I have ever seen. The two ships became one big party. And the two captains got into a huge horn battle.:):) That is one sail-a-way that I will never forget.:D

Sorry, reading the name of the ship brought back memories.

and it was always such a fantastic time on OV.

It was always endearing to us as it was our first cruise.

It actually got very expensive on there in the end.

And because we liked getting served for dinner, we used to eat in James Martins bistro every night :)

The ship was great!

Dynamic Reservations were smooth, even arrived an hour early to silk and was taken straight to a table!

There were no major complaints on board except personally (off topic) I hated the taste of anthem menu! I picked a restaurant to get that menu not a mini selection of bits and pieces!

Oh and the other thing -service in Chic was by far the worst of all complimentary restaurants! Our starters were taken away with forks in our hand and food on our plate! There was definitely something 'Fawlty Towers' about it! I thought it was funny my partner did not!
