Puerto vallarta

I heard on the news that other cruise lines have decided to skip that port due to security concerns. I wish they would cancel all Mexican ports until they clean up their gang and cartel issues.

I assume this is for a Panama Canal cruise. Other ports are nearby, such as Mazatlan, so they may try to go there instead, but they may also simply make it another sea day-- more time for everybody to stay on the ship, buy drinks and lose money in the casino:eek:;):D.

It can be problematic to switch ports of call with little notice, but if it's an ongoing problem and your cruise isn't for a while, there's more time to make alternate arrangements. But they need to find a port that isn't already booked full with other cruise ships, for example.

Hopefully this clears up before next February-- that's our next cruise, Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan and Cabo San Lucas:eek:. Maybe we'll just stay on the ship.

What a shame..but safety comes first.

Puerta Vallarta was a wonderful port when we did the Mex Riv some years ago...Mazatlan not so great...even then! And Acapulco was lovely but we traveled to a dbl gated, armed guard resort...beautiful but unnervingl Gladwe got the chance to see it...

Hope itins are revised... is Cabo still OK?

Yesterday RCCL announced the cancellation of port calls in Puerto Vallerta for the the Jewel and the Infinity. Disney also announced they were canceling stops in PV so this isn't "old" news.

Carnival Miracle docked in Puerto Vallarta May 12 as planned.

Those unrests were in the morning of May 1, after that all was normal and quiet again.

The airport is and was operating all the time. Many tourists didnot even notice it but heard about it later that day.

Great to hear. Will they just go back on our credit card?

My experience has been the refunded port charges are credited to your on board seapass account. If you don't spend all the refundable OBC, it will be refunded on your credit card at the end of the cruise.

We live on the West Coast and spend time in Cabo almost every year. It is very safe. Cabo is a long way from the Mexican mainland. It is isolated by water and a 1100 mile drive from the US border. Cabo has done an outstanding job at keeping the gang and cartel violence out of Baja. This really is a tragedy for the Mexican economy. It seemed like they had this cleaned up enough to make PV and Mazatlan safe but apparently not. We were just in PV in March on a cruise and it was fine. There was police and military visually on the streets but no sense of danger. I hope this is temporary and they get PV back on itineraries soon. As stated before, safety should be our and the cruise companies first concern. For the person who asked the question about Cabo, my opinion is it is very safe and our entire family will be there again soon.
