Can we get more chairs?

We have one of the aft facing larger balcony cabins on the Regal for our upcoming cruise. Another couple is sailing with us. If we ask our room steward for two extra chairs on the balcony will Princess allow this?

Usually not. They say its a safety issue. You can try and ask Stewart but he will have to clear it with his HK supervisor. If he does it on his own he can get in a bind.

Gone are the days of midnight lounger runs to the pool deck. :(

Changes after the Star fire. :(

On the Island earlier this year, we had our adult son with us, and were able to get another balcony chair. We just asked the steward, he said he would check, and it was there when we came back from dinner. We didn't slip him money, just used a smile at the time.

Exactly. Just imagine what a tip would do. :D

We had the OS suite on the Royal - with the huge wrap balcony. There have always been four chairs at the table but there were only two. Our son was with us in the cabin and I asked our steward. He came back and said his supervisor said no. That it was a safety issue. I was not a happy camper. But in the end, we were not able to use the balcony because of all the soot.

Since your friends are not staying in your cabin, I doubt they will bring you any extra chairs, even with a $20 bribe. Like Colo Cruiser said - your steward may feel he needs to get you one since you gave him money but do you want to be responsible for him being sent home and they have sent crew home.

Love that answer. Apparently Princess has determined that sitting on a lounge chair can be hazardous to your health. However breathing in noxious fumes and soot is a day at the health spa.

OP worst case just bring out the two chairs that they have in the room.

There should be ample seating on larger balconies...take the vanity chair outside, if you need it!

Your steward will love that one since he'll have to drag the chair in every time he finds it out there. Those wooden chairs have a covered cushion & are not water resistant but that's what I would do if he couldn't accommodate my request.

And apparently those chairs aren't a safety issue unless you develop a hernia lifting them.:)

When sailing with three paying passengers in a Grand Class Mini-Suite, we have always asked for a third chair. We are always told that we cannot have one and I always persist and I have always gotten one. The "safety issue" is a joke as Mini-Suites used to come with four chairs. I tell them that they can remove the ottomans if they think that space is an issue. Three chairs without ottomans take up about the same space than two chairs with ottomans. Also, three chairs on a Mini-Suite balcony is a lot less cramped than two chairs on a Royal Class balcony. If "safety" were indeed an issue, there would be no chairs on those balconies.

They'll come up with just about any excuse not to provide more chairs. ;)

God forbid they just come out and say I'm sorry but we don't have any extra balcony chairs. No instead they treat you like you're stupid. Smoking in the casino isn't a safety hazard but an extra chair breaks some kind of safety code. I bet if they charged to rent them they would let you stack them one on top of the other.
